THIS EPISODE NARRATES the unfortunate story of how Nawab Nehru and his henchmen in the Congress Party destroyed R.C. Majumdar's career as a towering historian. R.C. Majumdar remains one of the world-class scholars of history. The manner in which he was hounded out by a bunch of insecure Congress politicians is utterly disgraceful. Majumdar's crime was to declare that he would write the history of the Indian freedom struggle by critically examining the roles of Mohandas Gandhi, Nehru and other Congress leaders was his crime. This is the Catch Up on 3 Things for the Indian Express and I'm Flora Swain. It's the 19th of February and here are the headlines.Calling it an "abuse of power", the Bombay High Court said that the arrest of former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak by the Central Bureau of Investigation in December 2022 was done "without application of mind". The court made the observation in its order confirming the interim bail granted to the couple. The two were arrested on 23rd of December 2022 in connection with alleged irregularities in loans provided by the bank to the Venugopal Dhoot-led Videocon Group. The Supreme Court today stayed further proceedings on a notice issued by the Lok Sabha Privileges Committee to West Bengal officials, to appear on a complaint by BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar over alleged "misconduct, brutality and life-threatening injuries" to him. Majumdar had complained to the parliamentary committee about a breach of privilege as an MP after he was allegedly injured last week during protests in Sandeshkhali where leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress have been accused of sexually assaulting women villagers.Following a closed-door meeting between former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath and his supporters, his loyalists have claimed Nath would stay with the Congress. After emerging from the meeting today, former state home minister Bala Bachan said, quote, "There was no question of (Nath) joining the BJP. Kamal Nath is a national level politician of the Congress and has given his entire life to the party." Unquote. The Enforcement Directorate today said that it has filed a complaint against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for "intentionally disobeying the first three summons issued to him." Sources in the ED said, quote, "The court has taken cognisance of the same, thereby the court has prima facie accepted that Kejriwal has done an offence for which he is liable to be prosecuted. The question in front of the court is not about the validity of the summons rather the illegal act on part of Kejriwal of intentionally disobeying three summons." Unquote. In another setback to the Opposition INDIA alliance in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav is set to give a miss to Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amethi and Raebareli. Akhilesh today said that he will join Rahul's Yatra only after the finalisation of seat-sharing between the SP and the Congress for the UP seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This was the Catch-Up on the 3 Things by The Indian Express.

How can we live with integrity and pleasure in this world of police brutality and racism? In author, activist, and our own Brooklyn neighbor Ryan Lee Wong's extraordinary debut novel, an Asian American activist is challenged by his mother to face this question amidst generational change, a mother's secret, and an activist's coming-of-age. Welcome to Episode 57, in which KT and Laurel finish Women's History Month STRONG with two stories about amazing warrior women! First up, KT takes us to the Soviet Union during World War II and introduces us to Colonel Marina Raskova and the 588th Night Bomber Regiment also known as the Night Witches. Next, Laurel takes us back to British India during the mid-1800s to meet Lakshmi Bai, the Rani (or Queen) of Jhansi. Lakshmi Bai's biography takes place within the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 also known as the First War of Independence which made Lakshmi a folk hero for her country. **Correction!** Laurel also corrects this before starting her half of the episode but she messed up BAD on some pronunciation and is furious with herself about it. Throughout the story, you'll hear her pronounce Jhansi as "YAN-see" when it is actually "JHAN-see." Anish Majumdar - Despite being introverted, experiencing a tumultuous childhood, and navigating a schizophrenic mother, Anish eventually found his voice through acting and writing. In his late twenties, he relocated to New York and scraped through Craigslist ads to find jobs. That's when he had an a-ha moment! Through dedication and perseverance, he found a way to disrupt traditional norms of job searching so job seekers see immediate impacts and are on equal footing with employers. As an expert in the hidden job market, Anish empowers professionals to become experts in their field instead of job seekers, to stop "seeking permission" by applying for jobs, and to gain the power of choice. www.helloanish.comwww.livelifedriven.com

D.H. Lawrence (1885-1930) started a firestorm with his 1928 novel Lady Chatterley's Lover, which was quickly banned around the world. But the novel eventually found its way into print, after winning numerous obscenity trials in the 1950s and 60s, and today it's widely available (if not always widely read). In this episode, Jacke talks to Indian novelist Saikat Majumdar (The Middle Finger, Silverfish) about Saikat's childhood, his journey to becoming a writer, and his admiration for Lawrence's classic novel.
