All four friends learn a lesson that one must reconfirm the facts told by anyone before acting upon them and one should not become too excited in any situation. A Small Note: The last year or more has been a tough one for all of us. As we approach the great Kieslowski's birthday on June 27th- we are fortunate to have Prof. Annette Insdorf sharing about the work, life and making of Kieslowski's masterpieces - Blue, White, and Red and The Double Life of Veronique. She also shares similarities between the two masters- Truffaut and Kieslowski- who she had closely worked with and authored books on them- Double Lives, Second Chances: The Cinema of Krzystzof Kieslowski . We ask: 1) Knowing the Master- Kieslowski- what was he like as a person? - dry sense of humor/ skeptical/ non didactic. 2) Metaphysical/ spiritual/ rich in tonality - style. 3) Shooting his 3 masterpieces- BLUE/ WHITE/ RED- SIMULTANEOUSLY 4) Making the masterpiece- THE DOUBLE LIFE OF VERONIQUE 5) Writing the intangible structure 6) Composing Music- PRETEXT and the importance of it in his process 7) Directing his actors. 8) Similarities between Truffaut and Kieslowski 9) Kieslowski saw Citizen Kane 100 times-but the real masters for him were- Shakespeare/ Camus/ Tolstoy. His grandfather is very knowledgeable and thus he learns how birds are much more intuitive and aware about the climate and nature and how the tribals learn the bird's language. Aman also learns about a new kind of whistling language. A Small Note: The last year or more has been a tough one for all of us. On 28 June 1914 the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the heir apparent to the Austrian Empire, at Sarajevo in Bosnia was the main cause of World War-1 (1914-18). Tension between the major European power had, however, been growing for some time, fuelled mainly by Germany's ambition to be the major power in Europe and as a competitor to Britain in Commerce and trade. This had led to the formation of two power blocks in Europe, the Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria and Hungary; and the Triple Entente of England, French and Russia. Few would have imagined that the pistol shots in Sarajevo would lead to a brutal four year war and would draw in most of the world. Last of all did the Indian Army expect to be pulled out of fighting Pathans to fighting Germans and the Turks. The Indian Army, at the start of World War-II (1939-45), had a strength of 1,94,373 personnel; just a little more than at the start of World War-I. In the Western Desert, in Eritrea and Italy, Indian Divisions engaged the Germans and Italians. The 4th, 5th and 8th Indian Divisions distinguished themselves in a series of hard-fought campaigns. A time came when the British 8th Army depended on the 4th Division to crack up Axis formations in their long and final retreat. “There are no winners in an war and it only brings destruction .” Tune in to know bravery of Indian Army in World wars in this episode Jai Hind Comment what you thought about the episode. The distinguished history of Indian Army dates back more than ten thousand years. The two grand epics of ‘Ramayana' and ‘Mahabharata' constitute the fundamental framework around which the edifice of Indian Army is built. Though innumerable wars have been fought thereafter, most were in quest of universal peace and ‘dharma'. Recourse to arms was only taken when peace was threatened. In fact the word 'peace' forms the very core of Indian philosophy, which can most aptly be traced to one of India's ancient scriptures known as the ‘Yajurveda'. It is stated in verse, the English translation of which reads - “May the sky be peaceful; may the atmosphere be peaceful; may the earth be peaceful; may eternal peace cometh upon us”.
