You don't need to do the rehearsal at the same time (or right before) the rehearsal. They work together seamlessly like a well oiled machine. If you're hiring 2 separate companies, find a photographer and videographer who have a mutual respect for each other and understand the value they both add to the client's wedding day.You may not want a video of you for YOU to watch, but we promise that one day in the future, you'll wish you could see someone's raw emotions - parents, grandparents, friends or another loved one. That's what a wedding video gives you.At the end of the day, the only takeaways you'll have from your wedding are: your photos, your videos, your podcast BFFs, and the lifetime friendship you have with your wedding planner! :) Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseSupport the showFind Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesserTessa @fredandkateeventsEmail us unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comWeb unveilingparadise.com

Caterers partner with staffing and bar companies, photographers will refer videographers that they work collaboratively with, and venues will often require you to work with specific tried and true vendors that have been thoroughly vetted through them. Is this a good thing, or not? We personally think having a select list of vendors to choose from who have worked together, understand the rules, and play nicely together is 100% a good thing. Understand your environment when choosing your hairstyle. PRO TIP: The person who cuts your hair may not be the best person to do your wedding day hair if they're not familiar with weddings - timing of the day, keeping a hold on hairstyle all day. WATERPROOF MAKEUP? Always yes. PRO TIP: Tap, don't wipe. Even if you use waterproof makeup, if you're wiping your face all the time, it will come off. Tap, don't wipe. SUNSCREEN? No, because of the flashback that zinc and other mineral sunscreens can cause. If you really want to apply it, put it on 2 hours before TESSA'S TIP: Always, always use sunscreen!! AIRBRUSH OR LIQUID? There are so many good foundations out there - long wear is key, and the type of foundation will depend on your skin type. Trust your makeup artist to pick the best one for your skin.PRO TIP: Dewy doesn't always work in Hawaii weather. Highlighting is a great option to create a dewy effect. NUDE OR RED? The Perfect Order to Book Your Wedding Vendors

We're playing the hardest game of “Would You Rather…” ever. Would you rather spend your wedding budget on a wedding cake or a photo booth? Good food or gorgeous decor? And the hardest questions of all… would you rather indulge in a wedding planner (Team Tessa) or a photographer (Team Joe)! Why do you even have to make these tough decisions? Honestly, it all depends on your budget. This is why creating a list of priorities is crucial before you start booking your wedding vendors. In this episode, we'll share our professional opinions on which vendors you should immediately book, and which ones are less important at the start of your wedding planning process. If your goal is to keep your wedding planning as stress-free and fun as possible, this episode is a must listen.Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseThe Perfect Order to Book Your Wedding VendorsIs there a right or wrong order to book vendors? Sort of. Depending on your wedding, there's a better order to book them. Before managing the vendor order, we need to talk about budget and vision Your budget may dictate what you are able to book - can you afford both cake and a photo booth, or will you need to prioritize one over the other? How do you manage your budget and try to get everything you want?Top priority: venue or wedding planner. The venue will determine your date which is important when booking other vendors. Wedding planners would be equally as important if you need guidance when choosing your venue. It's ok to book your wedding planner without having a date.Depending on the venue, rentals, food and beverage might be next.  Hotels are more inclusive so a lot of rentals and F+B needs are included. Other venues don't include anything other than the space. These are foundational pieces for your wedding. (Must haves)The “fun” vendors come next, like decor, florals, photography, etc. This is the part of the wedding planning that people enjoy - cake tasting, food tasting, floral design, checking out live bands. Whatever your priority is, book those vendors first to make sure you have the budget for them.Joe's note: Within the category of “fun” vendors, some of them are one-of-a-kind, so book those first. For example, a bakery might be able to make multiple cakes, but a photographer might be able to only take one wedding a day. If you really want that specific person (photographer, musician, florist, etc), book that vendor first.OUR TIP: Find the vendors you connect with, and curate the talent and team for your wedding day.Tessa's recommended order: Wedding planner, venue, rentals, catering, bar, photo/video, DJ/band, flowers, cake, hair and makeup, officiant, transportation, stationary, photo booth.Joe's recommended order: Venue/wedding planner (TIE), photographer, bar, caterer, rentals, officiant, hair and makeup, florist, transportation, stationary, photo booth, specialty rentals, cake.Find Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesserTessa @fredandkateeventsEmail unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comWeb unveilingparadise.comSupport the show

Don't Make These Common Wedding Day Mistakes

80s style puffy sleeves, mason jars, and overly filtered photos... what do these thing all have in common? They're all wedding trends that came (and went). Being overly trendy is one of our common wedding faux pas to look out for. Want to learn the rest? Stay tuned. It doesn't matter how much you plan… things can always go wrong. We're here today to help you work through some common wedding day mistakes, and how you can best avoid them. Are you planning your wedding? Trust us, you're going to want to listen to this episode to avoid both minor mishaps and epic blunders!Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseDon't Make These Common Wedding Day MistakesYou buy your wedding dress before choosing your venue (and date). Your venue can affect what you can/cannot wear for your wedding day. The date/time of the year can influence your decision as well. There's a large time gap between the ceremony and reception. What will your guests do with 2-3 hours between ceremony and reception? A lot of venues don't allow guests to come early, so they're forced to akwardly hang out and wait. You have too many DIY tasks on your plate. Just don't do it.You go too trendy with anything. Puffy sleeves, mason jars and even dark rimmed glasses - be aware of trends and having them be the focal point of your wedding day.Saying hello to everyone - is this a good or bad thing? If it's a large wedding, Tessa thinks it's OK to skip this. If it's a smaller wedding (under 50), you can make time to greet everyone throughout the event.Your photo list is packed too tight, making your photo taking a stressful experience. Give yourself space to breathe, and move from one thing to another. If things happen to run behind, it's a lot harder to catch up when the photos are tight. You don't give enough time on your wedding day - just like with photos, it's a lot harder to catch up or troubleshoot when your timing is tight all day long. Give yourself space to breathe and enjoy your day! PRO TIP: Work with vendors who understand and respect your wedding day timeline - this will make things run so much smoother. You don't account for hidden costs such as the bar tab, vendor meals, gratuities, adding extra plates, paying for an uber for your drunk uncle etc. These come up at the last minute and you should have a small budget for it. (AKA, the “drunk uncle” fund) You invite non-wedding guests to your pre-wedding parties - don't do it! It's bad etiquette. Even though you want to, it's just not cool. You chose not to invite them to your wedding, so don't invite them to your pre-wedding celebrations. You ignore your families - If you're having a wedding bigger than just the 2 of you, your families matter to you so keep them in mind during the planning process. On the wedding day, make sure they're acknowledged and feel special. You don't put yourself first. This wedding is for the two of you so while you're trying to make it perfect for everyone else, don't forget about you. Give yourselves some private time alone to soak it all in. Find Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesserTessa @fredandkateeventsEmail unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comWeb unveilingparadise.comSupport the show

What does inclusivity at a wedding mean to  you? Does it mean accepting a couple as they are - LGBTQ+ or otherwise? Does it mean not just working with vendors who are affirming of an LGBTQ+ relationship, but they're actually a good, quality vendor? Does it mean regardless of the couple, allowing your wedding party to wear what they feel most comfortable in, even if that means the maid of honor wears a suit? No surprise here, but it's all of the above! In this episode, we have Zabrina Zablan-Duvauchelle, sharing her personal experience getting married, and taking that experience to create The Gay Agenda, an event planning company focusing on creating space for the LGBTQ+ community. Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseHow to create a thoughtful and inclusive wedding experience for you and your guestsSet the tone - be open to breaking old traditions, take on new traditions, and come up with less conventional ideas to include everyone, regardless of background.Create your chosen family - biological family and/or friends who are like family. These people will be the ones supporting you and your partner throughout the planning process or as Joe likes to say - your “ride or die”. What do these people mean to your partner? This chosen family needs to be supportive of both of you. Create your vendor team based on vendors who are both allies and also great at their jobs. Hire a wedding planner that can help you find vendors who can support both, or rely on your chosen family to help you - this should not have to be the responsibility of the couple getting married. Take the labor off the couple of having to come out to their vendors.Breaking down gender barriersMixed gender parties are great - give your wedding party ownership of how they can dress - let them wear a jumper or pants instead of a dress if they want toEliminate the bouquet tossCreate new bouquet toss tradition - toss to all single people, not just women, or give them a key to unlock the bouquet (and some money)Review with your officiant and MC their programs, to confirm their language is inclusive of your relationshipInstead or Mr and Mrs (or Mrs and Mrs), how about “the newlyweds” - it keeps everyone equal. The number one tip/takeaway from this episode - never assume anything. Always ask your clients what they prefer and this will be a game changer for your business.Breaking a gendered dress code → let's do a vibe or aesthetic vs a dress codeBody positivity is a thing, what looks good on one person won't look good for everyone.Allow guests to feel liberated, loved and remembered by making them feel included. What do we do with family stuck in tradition? Find a way to look past it, and let them do them. Protect yourself and your investment - rescind their invite if you need to. From tying a tie, to finding the perfect outfit to match your partner, to (BARF) talking about nose hairs… we've got you covered.Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseLet's Hear it for the Boys (aka, the Grooms)ATTIRE: to match or not to match? It's important to match your partner's level of formality. If they are formal, dress formally. If they're in aloha attire, it's ok to be more casual. The goal is to look like a matching couple on your wedding day. Groom + Groom? Complement your outfits, Joe says don't go fully matchy-matchy, Tessa is 100% into matching outfits!!TIES AND BOW TIES: Do you know how to tie a tie? How about a bow tie? Your wedding day shouldn't be the first attempt. Practice, practice, practice. Also, make them all look consistent with your wedding party - everyone's knots should look the same. SUITS AND TUXES: If you're renting your attire, pick it up with enough time to try it on and make sure you have the right size AND nothing is missing. Try everything on!DAY OF PREP: Is your shirt wrinkled? Iron it before the wedding day. Do you have a bow tie? Practice or rent a clip on. Be prepared for your wedding day. Create a custom look with jacket liners - printed photos or custom embroidered jackets are a fun trend right now. PERSONAL GROOMING: Get a fresh haircut, and trim your facial hair - nose hair, ear hair and eyebrows need to be groomed! VOWS: Don't wait to write these on your wedding day. Start at least a week ahead to give yourself time to write it. Don't do this on your phone - write them out on paper or in adorable vow books. GIVING EACH OTHER GIFTS? Plan ahead. Write a letter, get a gift, make it special, meaningful and don't be afraid to surprise your partner with that card or letter. YOUR WEDDING IS NOT YOUR FRAT PARTY - have fun, but not too much fun. You want to remember your wedding, so drink responsibly. BE INVOLVED - The best weddings happen when both partners are involved in the process, but don't wait until the last minute to get involved. If you weren't involved from the beginning, don't try to change things at the last minute. Find Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesserTessa @fredandkateeventsEmail unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comWeb unveilingparadise.comParadise Monarchs AdSupport the show

Serious question: Do you know exactly what your venue provides for your wedding? Do they provide tables and chairs? Forks and knives? What about trash cans? In this episode, we talk about the rental items you might need for your wedding, what in the world is a rain hold, and what rental items are the most forgotten. Gabrielle Richter, President of Accel Events and Tents, joins us and shares her advice on how to best utilize a full-service rental company like Accel. If you're planning an indoor wedding, and outdoor wedding, or even a rehearsal get together, you don't want to miss this week's episode.Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseWhy should I rent vs buy items for my wedding? Can you ensure it's appropriate quality, size, etc? What is your utilization after the wedding? Buying and throwing away leads to a lot of environmental waste. Renting items like linens, candles, and other small items is more sustainable for the environment.Where do we start when creating our rental list? First, think about your venue and what you NEED to rent - if you're indoors you'll need more decor vs hardware like tents and lighting. If you're outdoors, you'll likely need a lot more: tables, chairs, plates, napkins, linens, forks, glassware, etc. If you need a tent, rent it ASAP, and go bigger than you think. You can always downsize as you finalize your layout and guest count. What's a rain hold? If you're wanting a wedding under the stars, but are worried about the weather (rain and heat are a thing!!), you can hold a tent on your rental order, and cancel it as it gets closer to your wedding day. You'll pay a percentage of the total cost of the tent, vs paying 100%, but you'll have the confidence of knowing that if the weather goes sideways, you have the tent you need. What are the most common items that are forgotten when working on a rental order? Accessory tables like a check in table, bar back, memorial table, lighting in all areas - catering tents, over the bar, cocktail tables, etc, extra table wear (plates, forks, etc) and  trash cans are often forgotten. What are some cool accent pieces? Chandeliers and other fun lighting options, lounge furniture, bar fronts, and tablescape - colored goblets, gold or black flatware, personalized napkins, chargers. These items create a huge impact.Find Accel Events and Tents Instagram: @accelrentalsaccelrentals.comFind Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesser Tessa @fredandkateeventsEmail us unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comWeb unveilingparadise.comParadise Monarchs AdSupport the show

As a professional wedding planner and photographer, we're excited to share our insights, tips and advice with you so listen in to this episode!Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadise5 Common Wedding Floral Misconceptions… BUSTEDMYTH #1: Flowers grow in nature, so they can't be that expensive A lot of time and hard work goes into producing a single flower - from land, people, water, boxes, fuel, labor and more. This is why flowers are often more expensive than you expect. You can get off season flowers but you will be importing them at a much higher price. If specific flowers are very important to you, plan your wedding around your floral seasons. MYTH #2: Flowers are a good way to cut cost/save moneyFlowers are an investment to create your vision, and shouldn't be thought of as a way to cut money; however you can be strategic and maximize your florals. For example, repurpose arbor pieces and spend your money on the heavily photographed, high impact pieces - bouquet, arbor, head table.MYTH #3: I can get a flower in a specific color/shade at any time of the yearEvery flower has a different bloom season, and even if we import from around the world, it's not a 100% guarantee. Try to focus on a color and vibe, not a specific flower. There are also colors that are harder to perfectly match, like coral… No two people think of coral as the same (pink to orange to red). It's really hard to guarantee that exact shade of corals, so use napkins, linens or signage if you what that specific color and let your flowers complement it.MYTH #4: I'll save money if I DIY my flowersIn Hawaii, it's often not true due to the price of shipping, coolers/reefers to keep them fresh. It's not practical to DIY everything. There's also a lot of stress the day before for your family/friends that are making the flowers since you need to work on them as close to the wedding as possible.PRO TIP: Clear top tents are a flower nightmare.MYTH #5: I'll save money by using bud vases. At outdoor venues, bud vases often blow over due to wind which creates a watery mess on the linens. They're often more expensive than a standard low centerpiece because of the labor of setting up, cleaning, and returning to pick up vases.WHY SHOULD YOU WORK WITH A PROFESSIONAL FLORAL DESIGNER? They can help you work on your budget and make it beautiful by approaching it from a completely different angle. They will be coming from practicality and what you can realistically do with flowers and your budget, and are looking at ways to work within your budget and creative ways we never thought of.Find Creative Concepts by JeffInstagram: @jeffalencastre Jeffalencastre.com Find Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesser Tessa @fredandkateeventsEmail us unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comWeb unveilingparadise.comSupport the show

Avoid These 5 Wedding Day Emergencies

From weather disasters to wedding dress debacles, we're talking about 5 of the most common wedding day emergencies. As a professional photographer and wedding planner, we've been through more wedding day emergencies than you can imagine. Hurricanes? YES! Food poisoning? YES! False Missile Alerts? ALSO YES! Tune in to this episode to hear our pro tips and advice to plan and prepare for these wedding day emergencies and so much more. Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseAvoid these common wedding day emergencies and have a plan for themAs Tessa always says, “hope for the best, plan for the worst” - chaos mayhem managerFACT: 911 is not the emergency number is every country - be aware if you're getting married in another country#1: WEATHERCommon weather emergencies: rain and heat → tents are a great option for rain or heat, indoor venues are a great backup, also consider fans and umbrellas (need shade), and water = HYDRATE.Less common weather emergencies: hurricanes, snowstorms, tornadoes → get creative: move the dates, move your venue, shift your wedding as needed. It's rare, but it can happen.#2: SICKNESS OR INJURYIf a guest is sick, hopefully if there's enough time to update your caterer, seating chart, etc. If it's too close to the date, you won't be able to adjust anything. If a guest gets sick at your wedding, designate someone to take care of that person. What if guests are too drunk? Have a designated driver, who's in charge of managing this? Plan in advance if you know people are drinking.#3: VENDORS What if your vendors get sick/injured? Most professionals will have a backup plan but check your contract. Some contracts will say they will cancel and refund so finding a new vendor is on the client. Read and understand what to expect. #4: WEDDING DRESS IS STAINED OR DAMAGED Where is the stain and how important is it to clean it up?NOTE: Colored flowers (red roses, dyed orchids) can stain a dress if pressed up against the dress so be careful!Assess where it is, and how to clean the fabric - Tide pens, Shout wipes and hand towels are key.Grooms will often step on their bride's dress and rip the bustle or a hook - safety pins are so important, even better than a sewing kit.#5: UNINVITED GUESTSWedding crashers vs invited guests who forgot to RSVPTalk about it in advance - what do you want to do if people show up with their kids, a plus one, or someone uninvited.TIP: Increase your rental counts to give a buffer Find Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesserTessa @fredandkateeventsEmail unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comWeb unveilingparadise.comSupport the show

In this episode, Joe and I talk about what happens 1 month before your wedding, 1 week before your wedding, and 1 day before your wedding. Sit back, relax and get ready for… the final countdown!Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseONE MONTH TO GO:Collect your RSVPs: You should ideally have your final guest count 1 month out. Share this number with your rental company, caterer and anyone else who needs to know.Get your marriage license: This timing will differ in different states, so check with the state/country that you're getting married.Final dress fitting: Get fitted, and do the alterations as needed. If you're planning to write your own vows, give yourself the time and space to do it before the wedding day!Thank you speech: Just like your vows, don't wait until the last minute to write your thank you speech. Spend time thinking about everyone who has helped you during your engagement. PRO TIP: Don't forget to thank your parents!Create a wedding timeline (if you don't have a wedding planner) that lists the following information: when is everyone arriving - vendors and guests, what is the flow of the day, when does the venue need to be fully cleaned up and empty? Put as much info as possible into this timeline so everyone knows where to be.Start working on your photo list - who do you want pictures with, what family combinations?Start working on your song list, too. What song do you want when you walk into the ceremony? What about the first dance? Think about these songs now because there are A LOT of great songs.ONE WEEK TO GO:Pack your overnight bag (make sure you include your invitation suite for photos)Do a wardrobe check - do you have the right undergarments? Do your rental tuxes fit? Do you have socks?Break in your shoes so your feet don't hurt! Joe's counterpoint - don't break in your shoes - they'll look dirty for your photos. Plan ahead and wrap all gifts for your wedding party and family.Pack your welcome bags now - don't wait until the last minute.Hand off your ceremony and reception items to someone in charge - a wedding planner or someone else in charge.ONE DAY TO GO:Do your wedding rehearsal. PRO TIP: Do it 2 days before so you have the day before your wedding to relax. Don't forget to practice your kisses!!REST! Don't drink too much, stay out of the sun, and try to stay rested and calmWrite your vendor thank yous and pack their tips to hand off to your wedding planner or someone else in charge.Double check your attire - is everything ironed or steamed? Do you have access to a steamer if not? Don't forget to think about bridesmaid dresses, too!Chill your champagne, and make sure you have glasses to toast. HOT DAMN… We did it! We made it through season 2. Quick update: Tessa and Joe didn't kill each other, and are STILL BFFs. #winningHere's the deal - In the middle of season 1, we stopped answering our listener questions. Why? Because we realized that we talk way too much, and the episodes were getting soooo long! We had to make the tough decision to cut them (OK, Joe made that decision so blame him). The good news is that we've gathered all of those questions to answer today, on the last episode of season 2. Sit back, tune in, and enjoy our season 2 wrap.Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseWe got a TON of great questions, so we picked our faves to answer in this episode. Listen in hear what Tessa and Joe have to say… as usual, they're not on the same page for most. What do we need to consider when we're looking for flowers? Where do we start? What's a nice budget and what should we consider? What are your thoughts on book rooms? Do we think we need a travel agent? Should we meet them in advance to make sure they're a good fit for our wedding? When you're choosing your wedding party, how do you choose? Do you pick your best friend or sister? Or someone who would do the best job? Do you think we should spend so much money on your wedding - a one night party, or spend it on something more long term, like a house? How do we prioritize? How do we navigate the outside voices that are “helping” us with our wedding planning, and how do we keep the peace? “I want to invite 100 of my friends to your wedding”, “I'm paying so I should be able to pick your photographer”... What do we do??When should we send save the dates and let people know about our wedding? Is there such a thing as too soon?Ahhhh, we miss you all already, but we will see you soon in SEASON 3!! "Follow My Lead" - Wedding Ceremonies with Kelehua Kawai

If you strip away all the bells and whistles of a wedding - the extravagant decor, lush flowers, even (gasp!) professional wedding planning and photography - at the end of the day all you need to get married is you, your significant other, and an officiant. Your officiant is the person who will make your marriage legal, so this is the only “must have” on your wedding day.Our guest today, Kelehua Kawai, is a professional officiant, specializing in personalized ceremonies. She likes to add her own Hawaiian culture to each of her ceremonies, creating something unique for her couples. Whether or not you're planning to get married in Hawaii, everyone needs an officiant, so this episode is for you.Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseCREATING THE PERFECT WEDDING CEREMONYYour ceremony is the main part of your day - it makes the marriage legal, so spend time finding someone that is a good fit for your wedding. Some couples want to get very involved in the ceremony process, others just want to follow along - either way is OK.“Follow my lead” - Kelehua explains that if people are nervous, or don't want to or don't have time to get involved with the ceremony details, it's OK. They can follow her lead (writing their own personal vows or not) and still create something very special and personal to each couple. It's OK not to write your own vows - you want them to be perfect, and sometimes there's a lot of pressure to make it exactly perfect.Wanted vows to be perfect - but understand the pressure to make it perfectWhen you're writing your own vows, make sure they are what you truly want to say, not what you think people want to hear. People often express what they're thankful for in their partner, and then share what they vow to do. Personal vows are on average 1-2 minutes long. Be you, and say the things you want to say. What about a family member or friend officiate the wedding? It can be beautiful! Just make sure you communicate what you want so they can be fully prepared. Another option is to dual officiate - having a professional guide your family member or friend. What makes a professional officiant great, is they work with your other vendors to make sure things are aligned with their vision, and yours. Where is the best placement for the officiant to stand but not be in the way? Why do we move the veil after the lei exchange? What's the best way to speak into a mic so everyone can hear, and the video can capture clear audio? All of these things matter, and a professional officiant manages all of this during your ceremony. There are many different types of officiants - religious, non-denominational, a judge, someone who ties in cultural elements. The first step is to figure out what you need/want.Responsible tourism is a relatively new concept - it's creating an environment for people to start being more aware of their actions and footprint when going to a foreign destination.Find Kelehua KawaiInstagram: @marry_me_hawaii kelehuak@gmail.comFind Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesser Tessa mosaic: Exploring Jewish Issuesmosaic is Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County's news podcastListen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the show

When we ask couples what their priorities are for their wedding, the #1 answer is “good food, good drinks!” We 100% agree that good food and drinks are WEDDING MUSTS, but what exactly does that mean? In this week's episode, we get a little tipsy with Chad McDonald, owner of Stir Beverage. He goes into detail about how to elevate your wedding day bar, from the actual cocktails to the staffing to the tiny little details. Your wedding day drinks will be one of the most memorable parts of your day, so why not make them AMAZING?Whether you're getting married at a venue that includes a full bar, or if you're completely building a bar from bottom up for your wedding, this episode has tips and advice for you. In addition to being a professional wedding planner and photographer, we both consider ourselves professional drinkers, so raise your glasses and let's CHEERS to another fun episode.Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadiseCURATING THE PERFECT BAR FOR YOUR WEDDINGSignature cocktails - the statement drinks that will be featured at your wedding - often one for each partner highlighting their specific preferences. It's so important to start with a client's personal preference and preferred flavor palettes to create their signature drink. They should hit all your senses - it should look amazing, smell amazing, taste amazing!Large, important details: the aesthetics are so important - using a real bar front vs a table with linens, using beautiful glassware, having a custom bar menu for guests - all of these attention to detail items make your guests enjoy this experience.FACT: Guests hang out at the bar, so why wouldn't you create a hospitable place to hang out? According to Chad, the bar is a focal point, a gathering place, and often the centerpiece to your reception!HOT TREND: Custom ice cubes - they're clear, branded and GORGEOUS.We've been craving local ingredients in our food and cuisines for years - why wouldn't we demand the same for our drinks? Customize your cocktails by using local flavors from the location you're getting married at. We eat local - we should drink local, too!CHAD GETS HEATED! Having a real bartender is critical - they can be shaking 2 drinks at the same time, double pouring, while talking to your guests at the same time. They can also freestyle if your guests want something off menu, and stay cool under pressure. Having real bartenders vs banquet bartenders makes a huge difference in your service.Champagne Towers, LOVESpraying champagne, HATEChampagne toasts, 100% LOVEBeer kegs… LOVE!While Chad says rum and gin are the least popular drinks, Tessa believes that Joe paid him to say that! (And say that bourbon, vodka and tequila are the most popular). BARF.Final note - Chad is a ROCK STAR and Joe and I were  100% fangirling over him. Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadise5 Tips to SLAY Your Engagement Shoot First, why should you do an engagement shoot? To get comfortable as a couple in front of a professional photographer (selfies don't count!) and also to get to know your wedding photographer. This is an added level of comfort to meet your photographer beforehand, putting some wedding day anxiety as ease.Tip #1: Location, location, location. Find somewhere meaningful to you - a park, coffee shop, beach, mountains, food truck… make it personal to you as a couple. Plan in advance if you're going somewhere that requires a permit, permission or a fee.Think about the timing and the weather - if you're at an outdoor location, do you want to be out at the brightest time of the day? Or when the light is a little softer? Always involve your photographer in this decision. They know best!Tip #2: Get your hair and makeup professionally done. If you want to do a hair and makeup trial for your wedding, this is a great time to do it.Guys - shave your face, get a haircut, and look good, too!Tip #3: Put thought into your outfits. Your outfits should look good, complement each other, and also complement your location. Check out Pinterest (Tessa's OK with this for now...) for style inspiration and color pallets that work in your setting. DON'T: Don't match the background, don't add too much pattern or mismatched prints.Pro tip: Bring more than one outfit (a casual and formal outfit) to do different looks.Pro tip: Iron/steam/press your outfits beforehand! It makes a difference.Tip #4: Bring props if you want (like your BFF… best furry friend!!) but don't overdo it. Keep this engagement shoot about the two of you.Tip #5: You're all dressed up and looking good… do a date night after the engagement shoot!  Find Us on Instagram:Unveiling Paradise @unveilingparadiseJoe @josephesserTessa @fredandkateeventsEmail us your burning questions about this episode, weddings, or the latest Taylor Swift album (soooo obsessed) and we'll answer them on an upcoming episode.   unveilingparadisepodcast@gmail.comCheck out our BRAND NEW WEBSITE:  unveilingparadise.commosaic: Exploring Jewish Issuesmosaic is Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County's news podcastListen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the show
