Hair up in Hawaii makes more sense - it's hot, it's humid. Understand your environment when choosing your hairstyle. PRO TIP: The person who cuts your hair may not be the best person to do your wedding day hair if they're not familiar with weddings - timing of the day, keeping a hold on hairstyle all day. WATERPROOF MAKEUP? Always yes. PRO TIP: Tap, don't wipe. Even if you use waterproof makeup, if you're wiping your face all the time, it will come off. Tap, don't wipe. SUNSCREEN? No, because of the flashback that zinc and other mineral sunscreens can cause. If you really want to apply it, put it on 2 hours before TESSA'S TIP: Always, always use sunscreen!! AIRBRUSH OR LIQUID? There are so many good foundations out there - long wear is key, and the type of foundation will depend on your skin type. Trust your makeup artist to pick the best one for your skin.PRO TIP: Dewy doesn't always work in Hawaii weather. Highlighting is a great option to create a dewy effect. NUDE OR RED? Why is using cheap shampoo better than a nice, fancy shampoo before your wedding day? When is it better to forgo sunscreen rather than slathering it on? Do you want to learn some tips to manage baked-in-the-sun-for-way-too-long sunburns? Professional hair and makeup artist, CJ Siepka, is here to answer all of these questions and more!In this episode, CJ shares her industry secrets on ways to stay snatched and look cool all day long. Together with Joe and Tessa, a professional wedding photographer and wedding planner, they share their points of views on ways to maximize your wedding day hair and makeup.Support us: patreon.com/unveilingparadisePRE-WEDDING DAY HAIR AND MAKEUP PREPFirst things first - with the advancement of cameras (digital, HD), your pores are much more visible than before. Makeup is a natural photoshop, making it easier for photographers to edit any imperfections post-wedding. Blemishes? No thanks! Pro tip before your wedding day: DON'T do anything different (facials, waxing, brow tattoos… don't try it for the first time right before your wedding)DO: stay healthy, drink lots of water, get exerciseDO: Shampoo your hair the night before, and arrive with dry, clean hair.DO: Use cheap hotel shampoo to open your hair cuticles (it makes your hair frizzier and easier to style… who knew?)DON'T: Use conditioner the night before your weddingHOW TO: Troubleshoot sunburns - Avoid going into the sun before the wedding, practice wearing sunscreen beforehand so your skin knows how to react to makeup over sunscreen - let it soak in and then put on your makeup. Green primer can sometimes help balance the red sunburn.JOE'S TIP: If you have major tan lines (sports bra, tank top, etc) wear a lei over the sunburn to help hide it!Speaking of cover ups, a good hair and makeup artist can also cover tattoos, if needed.HOW TO: Troubleshoot pimples - Don't pop your pimples, and try not to touch them! Makeup will cover the color, but not the texture. You can ask your photographer to help clean up any pimples that arise.HOW TO: Troubleshoot hangovers - Put wet hand towels in the freezer - use these as cold compresses (and lots of concealer, color corrector)Why hire a professional hair and makeup artist? In addition to making everyone look photo and 360 ready, they keep everyone on schedule which is so important for your wedding day.WEDDING DAY HAIR AND MAKEUP TIPSWedding day makeup - keep it fresh with waterproof makeup (mascara and liners), good quality makeup, use primers to fill imperfections. Thin layers will help with the sweating and crying. Wedding day hair - lots and lots of hairsprayWedding day sweat - avoid wiping or rubbing your face with a tissue. Instead, dab with a handkerchief or a face towel from the hotel. The hair stylist you select for your bridal party is one of your most important hires. There is so much to understand and to consider when planning your wedding hair looks. Listen to this episode to hear co-hosts Kristina, Mike and Sharon talk with hairdresser, Stacie Hutchinson about considering the aesthetic of your stylist, scheduling trial runs, gathering inspiration photos and when a 2nd stylist is needed. Stay tuned because this episode contains ALL THE THINGS a bride should consider when hiring a stylist for herself and the bridal party! Stacie's career in the hair industry started in 2005 and although her first love was bridal make-up, she found bridal hair to be her lasting passion and creative outlet. She has pursued additional education, so she remains current on trends and all the tips and tricks. After over 17 years in the industry, Stacie still gets excited about getting to be part of each bride's special day! Stacie also has worked for the Kentucky Opera placing wigs and doing makeup.Timestamps:• [02:41] Sharon “one of the first things I want to point out is, don't assume that the person who does your hair normally regularly wants to do your wedding hair” • [03:26] Stacie “I think then the top thing to consider is the style of your stylist. Not every stylist has the same style. Some of them are better at boho, some of them are better at sleek looks. And some just aren't versed in using added additives to the hair, like extensions or buns that make the hair make you look like you have more hair than what you have. • [18:38] Kristina “When you're going to book your stylist for that day. How many can you have but then also do they? Do they find someone else to help them or work with them?” • [31:19] Michael “what's one tip that you would give up or tell a bride before she started looking or even thinking about hair?” For more information on The Ring The Bling And All The Things Podcast, visit: https://www.ringblingallthethingspodcast.com/Kristina StubblefieldCoaching & consulting: https://kristinastubblefield.com/Website: https://www.ringblingallthethingspodcast.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theringtheblingandallthethingsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/theringtheblingandallthethings/The Ring The Bling And All The Things Community Platform: https://www.ringblingallthethings.com/Michael GaddieWebsite: https://www.lloydsflorist.net/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lloydsflorist/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lloydsflorist/ Sharon RumseyWebsite: https://aperfectplanevents.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/APerfectPlanKentuckiana/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aperfectplaneventskentuckiana/Guest InformationStacie HutchisonInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bombshellred

Today we are welcoming my friend Candice. She owns Bliss Formal Hair and also works for Bridal Beauty Authority out of Atlanta. Candice has been a Hair and Makeup Artist for weddings for the past eight years. Candice takes us through what her typical process looks like in working with clients. She doesn't always meet her brides before the wedding unless they request a trial. She is always sure to ask questions of the bride beforehand to make sure she can meet their expectations on their big day. We hear about what she feels the value of her service is on the client's wedding day. Above all else, trust and understanding are so important to cultivate between a stylist and the client. It's about collaborating and working together to come up with a vision and execute a look the client will be happy with. When you hire a stylist or makeup artist, you should expect a professional and comfortable experience. Candice also shares her advice for planning a wedding, and how you can make the engagement and planning process more enjoyable. Interestingly enough, on Candice's own wedding day, she did her own hair as well as her bridesmaids' hair. For her, staying busy helped her manage the stress of the morning. If Candice could make anything disappear from the wedding industry, she would give the answers most vendors do: the pandemic. Of course, this has had a major influence on weddings over the past year. So many brides are on their third wedding date and finally getting married. When she's not hard at work, Candice co-hosts a storytelling True Crime podcast called “No F*cking Way”. As well as answering your wedding planning questions, my guest on today's show is Emily from the Wedding Hair Company! The Wedding Hair Company is a hand-picked collection of the UK’s top hair and makeup artists from the fashion industry and she reveals lots of tips and some very sensible (and fun) advice about wedding hair. Also on the show, I explain how easy it is to set up your own personalized wedding email account to keep track of all of your wedding quotes, subscriptions (have you subscribed to my newsletter yet?) and contacts, all in one place. This is a great idea to separate your wedding life from your real-life and to collate all the important info that you need to keep track of to reduce stress and mental-ness.
