And we started putting together pieces of how are the coaches going to plan training based off of the training loads that we’re getting from the heart rate and different drills and things like that.” 25:00 “When we’re able to show them, I think, that we’re individualizing as much as we can, then they understand, OK, like, they’re doing it for my best interest.” 31:55 “They may be running GPS with a few teams, but not necessarily have the time to really sift through the data and make use of it and make it actionable. So is that something that you can craft out for yourself? If that’s something you’re interested in, can you say, hey, you know, like let me figure this out. Let me do this for you. Because you can create an opportunity for yourself to not only learn the tech and learn the procedures and kind of the best practices, but then also become a valuable part of what they’re doing. And you never know what that’s going to turn into, right? It could turn into an employment opportunity or a recommendation or referral to somewhere else when someone asks.” 35:05 “I think the other thing is just being adaptable, you know, like, willing to flex and adapt, not only to jobs and things like that as far as what you’re doing day to day, but situations, circumstances. If you’re very rigid in what you do in your approach, you’re probably not going to succeed in this space.” 37:50

My guest for this episode, Adam Parr, shares the challenging part of being involved with starting a new sporting franchise. Everyone is new, from the kitchen staff to the best players. In the MLS, Charlotte FC faces teams that have decades of history behind them. Whereas Adam and the team at Charlotte are create their own history. But this is never easy and comes with plenty of responsibility and. Adam details the importance of building a good rapport with new playing group, building establish a healthy culture early on so that players want to come and play for this team in the future. Adam is very thankful for his support network, in particularly his fiancé, who has supported him in his role in the elite side of sport. Adam reflects on how often he and his fiancé have important conversations with each other, putting everything on the table, so nothing is hidden, and that they both understand each other's needs professionally. Being completely honest is key when dealing with relationships in the high-performance industry, so that the paths are aligned. Furthermore, Adam highlights the importance of building relationships for the long-term effects and how to provide value when trying to connect with someone. As a young kid, Adam experienced some traumatic things which triggered PTSD. At thirteen he began to take steps to change himself without yet understanding himself. He says prior to that he was all ego. He got interested in mental health but pursued a diverse selection of possible careers none of which fulfilled him. He'd always had a desire to work with and help people. He started an audio-only podcast while working through some of his own issues. His is a very interesting and compelling story. In addition, he is a member of the Expert Witness Institute, a certified competent Risk-Assessor, a registered and qualified Stress Consultant (Registered in 1994), a Licensed Cognitive Hypnotherapist, a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and the founder of Quantum Thinking. During his career he has undertaken audits, risk assessments, training needs analysis' and post-incident reports for his clients in relation to staff safety and the use of physical force.
