This is something I write about in a mini-chapter of my book entitled: "A Blessing: Delight." Rachel and I discuss how the formula that promises happiness can sometimes distract us from noticing the simple blessings that exist all around us. On Tuesday's Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Rachel Marie Kang, writer, author and Founder of The Fallow House, shares with us that our art is not peripheral to life--it is at the very heart of why we exist. Our art and creativity are like light that pushes back the darkness in our lives, and there is beauty, healing, and hope that shines through when we finally take hold of what's in front of us.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to the second week in our Wholehearted Rhythm Pillar series.  Every year I love coming back to exploring why the 3 Wholehearted Rhythm Pillars are so crucial - Word, Worship, and Write. This series is created to help you discover with God the new habits that will work for any new season you may find yourself in this New Year or in the middle of a year.  Last week, we had an inspiring conversation about why getting in the Word is so crucial. If you haven't checked that out, it's episode 227 and I highly recommend it! In today's episode, we are chatting about all things worship! My guest today is Rachel Marie Kang and wow, what pure joy to spend a half-hour with. As an Enneagram 4, she is a role model at appreciating the beauty around her, including the beauty in worship. She also will help you re-define what can “count” as worship in your life. Rachel Marie Kang is a New York native, born and raised just outside of New York City. Have you ever been so focused on the future you “think” is meant for you that you miss all the signs the universe is sending you? I am going to be completely honest with you, Go-Getter fam, that is exactly where I was almost three years ago. Before I became an entrepreneur before I became a life coach before I became a full-time online business owner before I became this version of myself that believes 100% that I am doing what I am meant to be, I played it safe. I ignored many signs that I now see clearly looking back, and I just want to get real with you all, because life is not all sunshine and rainbows. This journey to becoming a CEO has been challenging, but I would not trade it for anything else in the world. So, if you are thinking about leaving your job, if you are thinking about your side hustle all day long if YOU are unsure of yourself, this episode is for you, my queen. I believe in you, and I am truly obsessed with supporting others in the pursuit of what sets their heart on fire. Your dreams are yours for a reason and I am here to help you take the leap, to help you manifest your goals, and take action! You are the only one who gets to choose where you are going and what your life is made up of. Hello Go-Getters! I wanted to take a moment and send my love to everyone and just say from GGG company from me Rachel Marie, Black lives matter. I need to get this message out because it does align with me and what I stand for. Between everything that's happened in this whirlwind of a year, Corona, quarantine, and now the protests to bring justice to George Floyd, it was brought to my attention by some of the women I admire and care about that GGG did not take a big enough stance. I recognize that and I am going to do better. I want to let you all know black lives have always mattered, but I fully understand that they have not always mattered to other people. That being said we at GGG want to do whatever we can to support you and use our voice as an ally. If there is anything you want us to know or have suggestions on how we can do better please DM me! In today's BONUS episode of Go-Getter Girl Podcast we talk about things we can and can't control, and tactics you can use to look at things a little differently. You are in control of literally everything you perceive, everything you think. That's all you. We make ourselves feel and respond the way we do from our inner selves. Nobody else can make us feel a certain way unless we allow that to happen. When something happens we react and we are constantly in control of those things but… it doesn't always feel like that does it? Your mind is so powerful, and so if we can get in touch with that and ask ourselves why we are feeling the way we are feeling. It is a very powerful move, and by doing this we are not only aware of our thoughts, we are raising ourselves to a higher frequency. By asking yourself what's going on, what do I need how can I be different or better in this situation. You are constantly trying to be a work in progress. What are some of the things we can control? How we react to certain situations. What we respond/decide to give energy to. You need to pay attention to what is draining you and taking up your time and change anything that might need to change. My 5 tips to stay in your zone of genius and focus on your control so that you can keep worries at bay: 1. Write a letter to let go and release what you need too. 2. Record a voice note to get your thoughts out fully. 3. Meditate for 5 minutes a day. 4. Get outside and focus your energy outside of the situation. 5. Focus on your self-care. You've got this girl! You decide what actions you take control of and change. You have the power to manifest the outcome you desire. If you are feeling like you are needing support with being overwhelmed or taking control I am here to help you DM me or check my website to work closer with me. I know that if you practice these tips you will be able to change your energy into something that makes a difference in your life and the lives of others. Katey joins author Rachel Marie Stone to discuss her latest book Birthing Hope: Giving Fear to the Light. We examine the simultaneous discomfort  and the awe we feel about how in the act of giving birth, we touch death as we bring new life into the world. We discuss the ways that the medicalization of birth has changed the ways that we think about birth, the importance of affirming women's self-knowledge of their own bodies, and the ways that birth can teach us about the nature of God. Rachel is the author of Eat With Joy: Redeeming God’s Gift of Food, which won won Christianity Today book award in the category of Christian Living, and was named one of Religion News Service’s “Top Ten Intriguing Books of 2013.” Her latest book Birthing Hope: Giving Fear to the Light will be available on May 1. Publisher's Weekly said "Stone’s style is reflective, making the book more of a meditation than a traditional memoir, and the prose is evocative throughout." You can pre-order Birthing Hope on Intervarsity Press.
