So Christ's immediate purpose in giving pastors and teachers to his church is through their ministry of the word to equip all people for their varied ministries. And the ultimate purpose of this is to build up his body, the church. In other words, the church's goal is not Christ but its own maturity in unity which comes from knowing, trusting and growing up into Christ.Home Church Questions• Read Ephesians 4:11-16.• What is your favorite part of church activities? Contrary to popular belief, work is not a curse. It is a gift from God that creates opportunities for worship and ministry.

What underlying principles should guide us as we engage in public worship? This is a satement of my personal philosophy that guides me as I construct an order of service. In other words shapes the structure of the liturgy. It is based on the whole of the Bible primarily guide by the New Testament especially the book of Acts and the apostolic epistles which fleshed out how the early disciples of Christ Jesus followed Jesus instruction in his commission. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:42; John 4:23-24; Philippians 3:3,;Ephesians 2:18;Hebrews 10:19-25Matthew 28:18-2018 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Acts 2:4242 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. John 4:23-2423 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” Philippians 3:33 For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— Ephesians 2:1818 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.Hebrews 10:19-2519 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.English Standard Version (ESV)The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. Since 2016, over 30,000 homicides have occurred in Canada, at the hands of another MAID. Given secular trends, MAID (or something like it) may be coming to America as well. It stands for Medical Assistance in Dying and it allows physicians to euthanize people, thousands of people made in the image of God. This is a Canadian medical protocol, which went into effect in June of 2016 when the Parliament of Canada passed federal legislation allowing eligible Canadian adults to request medical assistance in dying. Moreover, these deaths are procured legally and by physicians. Historically, physicians have considered their calling to “do no harm” and to assist their patients in correcting illness and in being healthy. This is part of the ancient Hippocratic tradition. When physicians administer lethal doses of poison to their “patients,” something has radically gone wrong. The reasons for MAID have expanded far beyond “death with dignity” for those terminally ill. But even in these cases, it is morally wrong for someone to induce the death of another person, since that violates God's command not to murder (Exodus 20:13).This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with JOURNAL author Doug Groothuis about his online article, “‘Murder by Medicine in Canada and the Threat to America“.When you support the Journal, you join the team of to help provide the resources at equip.org that minister to people worldwide. How could a popular podcaster and author produce a feature film and write a book with the title “What is a Woman?” Does not everyone know the answer to that? After all, humanity is a dimorphic species, consisting of males and females, each with its own distinctive DNA (XY or XX) and gametes (sperm or egg). .... When Walsh asks Dr. Michelle Focier, Associate Professor of Pediatrics and an Assistant Dean of Admissions at the Brown University Alpert Medical School, what a women is “in reality, truth,” she responds: “Whose truth are we talking about?” she retorted. “The same truth that says we're sitting in this room right now, you and I. We're not on a plane in the sky. We're not in Victorian England.” “My patients' truth isn't determined by you,” Dr. Forcier said, matter of factly. This muck about truth is postmodernism applied to gender. There is no fixed and objective truth, especially related to human existence. Our identities are constructed, deconstructed, and may be reconstructed—all without appeal to any objective and normative standard outside of ourselves. Even more, the hard and unambiguous physical reality of biology is ignored or discounted. The body is mere stuff to be manipulated as one pleases; it not taken to be “fearfully and wonderfully made,” as Scripture teaches (Psalm 139:14). on . Does the phenomenon of intersex justify “gender fluidity,” the rejection of fixed and God-given categories of gender identity and the decoupling of gender from biological sex? Supposedly, sex is “assigned” at birth based on sexual organs and chromosomes but need not define one's gender identity. This episode touches on the topic of spiritual abuse. As ministers of the gospel, we are tasked with making disciples and then teaching disciples to make more disciples. Unfortunately, there are missionaries and pastors who sometimes abuse their position of leadership and stewardship as platforms to build their own egos and kingdoms. We must be reminded that our job as ministers is to constantly point others to Jesus and teach them to learn to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit in their life. Training disciples is accomplished through life-on-life discipleship. There is a danger in making those to whom we are ministering co-dependent upon us where they look to us for their spiritual answers instead of going to the Word and discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit. Listen as Gary and Jason tackle this delicate subject and give practical advice on forming a solid Biblical philosophy of ministry!

Today, one in five children has mental health problems. Within the last 15 years, there has been a 43% increase in ADHD in kids. Within the last 15 years, there has been a 37% increase in teen depression. Within the last 15 years, there has been a 100% increase in the suicide rate in kids 10-14 years old. This is the world we live in. Today in Episode 69 of the Jesus Society Podcast, I want to follow-up on our Men of God series and talk about parenting in general, not just as it pertains to men and boys, but parenting in general. I want to start by talking about the biblical philosophy of parenting, and then with that in front of us, I want to give some specific, and I think timely, and hopefully helpful advice for parents. Join me today as we discuss: I. A Biblical Philosophy of Parenting, based on Deut. 6:4-7; Prov. 22:6; and Eph. 6:4. The bottom line? You're much more than a life support system for your children. So, following Steven Covey's first two habits in The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, you need to “Be Proactive,” and “Begin with the End in Mind.” II. Specific Advice for Parenting: Realize that love covers a multitude of sins. Find some people who have successfully raised good, godly kids, who have done it well, and look to them as your mentors and examples. Cultivate an atmosphere of vulnerability with your kids. Cultivate an atmosphere of truth and trust. Be present with your kids and make your kids be present with you. Be engaged with your kids. Make sure your kids have lots of good (emphasis on good) adults in their lives; don't let them spend all their time being influenced by their peers. Don't be afraid to discipline. Discipline is not cruel. Done right, it is a blessing. Don't shelter your kids from the world they'll have to live in. Instead, teach them healthy ways to process and relate to the world as it exists. And finally, once again, realize that love covers a multitude of sins. God has entrusted you with the nurturing and care of another life. That should humble you, but it should also inspire you. God thinks you're up to the challenge. If you have children, the most important kingdom activity you have is to raise them well, to extend the blessing and love and care and instruction of God to them. Help them become adults who can bear the image of God to their world with wisdom and love. You can do that. And the proof you can do that is that God has given you children. __________________________________ As always, we'd appreciate it if you'd tell others about the podcast. There's a distinction often made between two common approaches to the human longing for wisdom. The first approach, philosophy, is considered the unassisted search for wisdom and truth, one that requires boldness, curiosity, and perhaps even impiety; it requires the philosopher to ask questions that can unsettle the customs and social habits on which any decent society depends. The second approach, biblical religion, is the product of revelation, of God's disclosure to Moses and mankind the ways of creation and righteous living. The biblical desire to know requires submission and deference to an authority beyond all human pretensions, an authority that knows the human heart better than humans themselves do. Philosophy appeals to human reason; scripture appeals to divine revelation. They're two fundamentally different modes of understanding, learning, and living. This week's podcast guest argues that this oft-drawn distinction between reason and revelation is all wrong. Dru Johnson is a professor at The Kings's College in New York City, director of the Center for Hebraic Thought, and the author of a new book, Biblical Philosophy: A Hebraic Approach to the Old and New Testaments. In the book, Johnson argues that, beginning in the Hebrew Bible and extending even through the Christian New Testament, the Bible has a coherent manner of seeking out wisdom that bears all the distinguishing characteristics of a text with philosophical depth. Just like the Greek tradition, biblical philosophy is a distinct intellectual tradition that has its own answers to a great many of the pressing questions of mankind. Curious? Join him and Mosaic's editor Jonathan Silver to learn more.

Voting simply based on abstract principles divorced from the dynamics of the historical process and from the specific challenges of our times – God's purpose to our generation – won't be really Biblical voting.
