Welcome to ‘The Full Go'! Jason opens the show by chronicling the latest developments in the Justin Fields saga. Bears head coach Matt Nagy has yet to make a decision about who will be under center this Sunday against the Browns as Andy Dalton deals with a knee injury. Plus, the White Sox are crawling to the finish line, and Jason is a bit anxious (00:30). Ozzie Guillen is an analyst for NBC Sports Chicago and was the White Sox manager the last time the team won an AL Central title in 2008. Ozzie also managed the team in 2005 through struggles down the stretch, so he knows what the 2021 Sox team could be going through (15:00). Adam Amin has done play-by-play for nearly every team in town and is Jason's teammate at NBC Sports Chicago. Adam talks about finding his style as a play-by-play announcer, the worst day of his career, and how he thinks this new Bulls core will mesh (59:00). In Outside the Chi, Jason explains why he may be the final remaining Ben Simmons fan on Earth. Plus, JJ Reddick announces his retirement from the NBA, so naturally we discuss the most hated Duke players of all time (1:28:00). The 2020-2021 NBA Season tips off TONIGHT AT 7 PM EST, starting with the Golden State Warriors visiting the Brooklyn Nets, and followed by the Los Angeles Clippers battling the defending 2020 NBA Champions, the Lakers. 1:33 - James Harden and the Houston Rockets enter the 2020-2021 NBA Season with their revamped roster. Out with Russell Westbrook, and in with John Wall. Harden seems to be struggling with the current situation in the Houston Rockets organization. Special Guest Tony Tucker from Project Drivel makes a SUPER BOLD prediction to tip the show off. 5:32 - Giannis Antetokounmpo agreed to a $228.2 million, five-year supermax extension with the Milwaukee Bucks on December 15th. This was the largest deal ever inked in NBA history. After back to back years of owning the best record in the NBA, and winning the NBA MVP award, the money was well deserved for Giannis. But with great pay comes great responsibility. Adam starts the show off with a BLAZING HOT BOLD PREDICTION and shares what could happen in the 2020-2021 NBA Season. 13:17 - Zion Williamson and The New Orleans Pelicans have plenty to look forward to stepping into the 2020-2021 NBA Season. Could new head coach Stan Van Gundy put the league on notice come time for the playoffs? 16:50 - Steve Nash. Former NBA superstar point guard turned Brooklyn Nets head coach. His hands are full as he steps into a franchise that has not been to the NBA Finals since 2003. Max went 3-1 and Arch went 3-0 in the NFL this weekend.  All the Degens make their NBA picks and Max gives us his NHL picks.    Excerpts from Max's Notes:    NBA Bulls at Celtics Both teams coming off wins on Saturday that broke losing streaks. For Boston, it was a big blowout win home against a Pelicans team that had been surging prior to that. Jason Tatum continues to show progress as an all around offensive weapon and Boston improved to 15-3 at home. The Bulls beat up the Pistons on Saturday and didn’t need the points they were getting. The Bulls can’t win on the road very well but their ATS is 10-8-1. Pelicans at Pistons The Pelicans ran into a Boston buzzsaw OBS Saturday but head to Detroit to play a Pistons team who are losers of 2 in a row. The Pelicans are dealing with a ton of injuries at the moment. Derrick Favor, Drew Holiday and JJ Reddick all missed Saturday’s game and are listed as questionable today. For Detroit, they limited Andre Drummond’s minutes to 19 in their loss to the Bulls and that’s a sign he’s probably going to be traded soon. Can’t believe the Pelicans are favored here but Detroit is an absolute mess right now. 76ers at Pacers Philly lost again on the road on Saturday and it’s becoming a serious concern for a team that has title aspirations. I get they are playing without Embiid but these road woes predated his injury. They head to Indiana where they lost on the road on New Year’s Eve. The Pacers are 2-3 in that span and managed a win on Friday without Brogdon and Sabonis. Miles Turner and T.J. Warren led the way on Friday and might need to tonight with Brogdon and Sabonis listed as questionable. Hard not to like Indiana getting points at home but you have to expect Philly to win some games on the road. Thunder at Timberwolves OKC ran into the B squad of the Lakers and didn’t take them seriously. And Rondo turned into playoff Rondo before our eyes as he and Kyle Kuzma destroyed the Thunder on Saturday night. Now OKC heads to Minnesota to play a Timberwolves team that lost by 30 on the road in Houston. Minnesota is actually a better team on the road than at home this season and with KAT still questionable it’s hard not to like OKC in this one. Magic at Kings Both teams have had a few days off after suffering losses on Friday. For Orlando, it was a close loss in Phoenix to the Suns that dropped them to 5-13 on the road. The Kings got blown out at home by a far superior Bucks team. The Magic played without Aaron Gordon on Friday and he’s questionable today. The Kings continue to play without Bagley and Bogdanovich which is putting more pressure on De’Aaron Fox. The Magic do better ATS on the road than the Kings do at home ATS and this is a spot where I like them getting the points. Hornets at Blazers Charlotte lost their fourth in a row yesterday and now fly from Phoenix to Portland to play a Blazers team that has looked terrible in two straight losses. I don’t think I’ve officially buried the Blazers on this show but my patience with them to turn things around has grown thin. They are 8-10 at home straight up and 6-11-1 ATS. The played without Whiteside on Saturday and their big 3 all played well but they still lost by 20 to the Bucks. Whiteside is probable for tonight and the Blazers should get the win. Cavs at Lakers The Lakers are still dealing with some injuries but looks like Avery Bradley and LeBron James should play tonight. Anthony Davis is still questionable and now Rajon Rondo is too. Not sure if that matters with LeBron’s former team coming to town sporting their 6-13 road record. But Cleveland has won 2 in a row including a big win in Denver on Saturday. The Lakers are 8-2 in their last 10 games but only 5-4-1 ATS. I do think they could cover this one but a few points to chalky for me. NHL Flames at Canadians The Flames are, pun intended, hot right now. They head to Montreal to face a Canadians team that finally got a win on Saturday. It was a close win over a lowly Ottawa team but a win nonetheless. All good things must come to an end and the Flames will lose one soon. Just not sure it’s tonight. Islanders at Rangers The Islanders have been a mediocre team lately but that could be because of their schedule. Other than a pair of games against the Devils, the Islanders have had to play some of the league’s better teams. The Rangers are not one of the league’s better teams but they are pretty good at home. The money is coming in on the Rangers and I’ve done well fading the money in the NHL recently. Bruins at Flyers The Flyers lost a 1-0 game to a great Lightning team on Saturday and now welcome a surging Bruins team. Boston has won 3 in a row and look to sneak out a win in Philly today. The Flyers are 14-3-4 at home this season and the thought of them losing two in a row at home is tough but I think it happens. Hurricanes at Capitals Great matchup here. Carolina was slumping a bit but have won 3 in a row now while the Capitals have dropped two straight after an embarrassing 5-1 loss to the Devils on Saturday. Everyone is on Washington here to bounce back. They are 13-5-4 at home but Carolina can win on the road. Wish the payout was higher here so it’s only a little reward for a slight risk. Ducks at Blues Anaheim has lost 3 in a row after their 4-2 loss to the Blackhawks on Saturday. The Blues have won 3 in a row and are 16-4-3 at home this year. Money and public are on St. Louis and can’t say I disagree.   The site:  https://absolutedegeneracy.com/ The NFL show, NHL projections, NBA projections, our "Degen Score" that we use in the Mutual Fund betting, Max's write-ups and more over on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/absolutedegeneracy The Discord Chat: https://discord.gg/rFC3vEa Follow us on Twitter: twitter.com/bettingabsolute Facebookers: https://www.facebook.com/sportsbettingdegeneracy/

Dillon Sage, co-host of Holy Backboard podcast, joined Tara to talk about the New Orleans Pelicans.  00:30 How have expectations changed for the Pelicans? High expectations were quickly adjusted when Zion Williamson went down, but he’s not the only one who has been injured. Basically Pelicans fans have already had their hearts broke a number of ways this season. 2:45 What is the plan moving forward for this season? Will Zion play at all? The front office is adamant that he will play, although they are asking for patience.  4:00 Brandon Ingram has been fantastic. He has really blossomed since he got out from under LeBron James and shown that he can be the featured player. Its been a very long time since the Pelicans (or Hornets) have had a good small forward. Ingram has great chemistry with all the players on the team.  5:45 Lonzo Ball has been tough to watch. He’s not flourishing in a system that you would think would be good for point guards. He just keeps taking 3s, he is not penetrating. As a result he is coming off of the bench and Jrue Holiday continues to handle playmaking responsibilities.  7:00 What do the Pelicans look like when they are playing their best? When Derrick Favors plays they are a really good defense. They look good when they play the fast paced offense.  8:30 Is coach Alvin Gentry on the hot seat for losing 13 games in a row? Fans seem to be mad at him but it also seems like the front office likes him.  9:15 Six months ago, David Griffin was a genius. Do people still feel that way? No matter how things are going this season, they are set up well for the future.  10:30 Who is the leader in the locker room? Probably the three vets, Jrue Holiday, JJ Reddick, and Derrick Favors. They need to have veterans to help these very young players become professionals.  12:00 There are rumors that the Pelicans may trade Jrue Holiday. Why would they want to do that? Sage thinks they are most likely listening to offers and would be willing to agree to a deal that will make them better, but they are most likely not actively looking for someone to trade with.  14:00 JJ Reddick is playing well, continues to make difficult shots and he is one of their only shooters on the team, he provides spacing.  15:30 What do the Blazers need to do to lock in this win? They need to stop the pick-and-roll. It has always been effective, especially against the Blazers. Last time they met, Hassan Whiteside figured out in the second half how to stop them. In the first game, the Blazers didn’t have Damian Lillard, it was Carmelo Anthony’s first game. The Pelicans played CJ McCollum very tight.  17:45 How does Carmelo Anthony contribute to a Blazers win against the Pelicans? Anthony makes it a lot harder to double Lillard and McCollum, which has been the Pelicans plan against the Blazers for a long time.  18:45 Are there any other storylines or players Blazer fans should watch for? Jackson Hayes has gotten a lot better. He has stopped jumping and been much more effective contesting shots.  Find Sage at @dasage, follow the Holy Backboard podcast @holybackboard. Joined today by former NFL WR and current WR coach at The University of Virginia, Marques “Biscuit” Hagans. Marques and I talk about his recruiting process and how his Grandmother was the deciding factor in his choosing UVA over Indiana. We spend some time talking about his time at Virginia, his roommates and of course that historic win in 2005 over #4 ranked Florida State. “Biscuit” tells us how he met his basketball star wife, and who would win in a game of horse. Coach Hagans takes us back to the 2006 NFL Draft and where he was when he got the call that he made it to “The League”. We hear about rookie hazing, stepping on the field in his first game and seeing Ray Lewis, meeting Peyton Manning and the difficulties of moving from team to team. After his NFL career, Marques moved to the sidelines to become one of the best Wide Receiver coaches in the country. Coach tells us what that entails, what’s the most rewarding part of coaching, and why he loves teaching so much. We look ahead to the potential monster matchup with instate rival Virginia Tech, possible bowl games and what’s next in his coaching career. Coach Hagans and I talk about the heartbreaking demonstrations that took place down in Charlottesville and how the football team made a stand to promote love and peace. From his opinion on paying NCAA athletes, JJ Reddick crushing his NBA dreams and his friendship with Allen Iverson, “Biscuit” is one of the most entertaining guests I’ve had on the podcast.
