The NFL sent a letter to gambling quarterback Brendan Sorsby letting him know there would be no NFL Supplemental Draft this year and they wished him the best for his future.  It may be the first time anybody has stood up to the talented player and it's likely the best thing for him.  There was no way the NFL wanted this off season saga.  Good for them.    Meanwhile, the NCAA votes to change the rules of eligility and it's exactly the model President Trump put in an Executive Order on April 7.    A star tight end not named Kelce is all up the kitchen of NFL owners who seem to have enough money for grass fields for FIFA but not for NFL players.  We'll tell you who he is.    Is it the first policy difference between VP Vance and Secretary Rubio as they are likely to both want to be America's next president?  JD is handling the Iran negotiation and according to a report, that's how Marco wants it.  You want to hear this.    US manufacturing is at a five year high, the DOJ charges 455 scammers that have been stealing healthcare money from the government.  And in our Final Final, Space X has fallen back to earth.

The Dow rose 148 points while the S&P fell 0.37% and the Nasdaq dropped 1.33% amid weakness in communication services and mega-cap names. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a deal Wednesday meant to end the Middle East war, causing it to go into effect two days earlier than originally envisioned, with Tehran agreeing to dilute its enriched uranium in return for large-scale economic relief. Magid takes us through the points of primary concern for Israel, including its right of self-defense against Hezbollah attacks. In a lengthy press conference at the G7 summit in France yesterday, Trump claimed Iran should be allowed to keep some of its ballistic missiles. He also repeatedly castigated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, including stating he is less justified in criticizing the memorandum of understanding that Trump signed with Iran because the Israeli premier purportedly pulled out of a joint operation to kill top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in 2020. We hear other sharp criticisms of Netanyahu, including accusations of disproportionate force. In the second half of the program, Magid brings his exclusive scoop that the US is in talks with the Palestinian Authority about boosting what has been a strained bilateral relationship, as Washington seeks Ramallah’s cooperation to advance its landmark policy initiatives in the region. And who is chaperoning the reforms DC is seeking? Enter Saudi Arabia. And finally, Magid explains how former UK prime minister Tony Blair is taking on a larger role in the Board of Peace, where he will be tasked with managing the various mechanisms that are meant to oversee the postwar management of Gaza. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. **Surrender in France: A Deal that's Left Many Speechless** This episode of the podcast is a must-listen for anyone following the recent developments in the Iran-US conflict. Ross shares his thoughts on the Memorandum of Understanding between the two nations, which has left many scratching their heads. With a mix of frustration, humor, and insight, Ross breaks down the key points of the deal and what it means for the future of the region. The episode covers a range of topics, from personal reactions to the deal to a deeper dive into the implications of the agreement. Ross shares his thoughts on President Trump's recent press conference, where he seemed to be more interested in talking about his favorite topics than the actual deal. He also discuss the potential consequences of the deal, including the lifting of sanctions and the potential for Iran to sell oil. One of the most striking aspects of the episode is the analysis of the deal's terms. They point out that Iran gets significant benefits, including access to cash and the ability to sell oil, in exchange for relatively little. Ross also raises questions about the US's commitment to the deal and whether it's a sign of a larger issue with the country's leadership. If you're interested in staying up-to-date on the latest developments in the Iran-US conflict, this episode is a must-listen. The unique perspective and humor make the complex topic more accessible and engaging. So, tune in to hear their thoughts on this surprising deal and what it means for the future of the region.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed Monday that the Israeli military will remain in southern Lebanon and warned that if Iran strikes, it will be hit “with full force,” promising that Israel will resist any pressure after the US and Iran agreed a deal to end the war that also reportedly includes a commitment to end hostilities in Lebanon. We hear about where the IDF is currently holding in southern Lebanon and the strike on Beirut that almost derailed the Iran-US memorandum of understanding last night. Late last week, senior Hezbollah commander Ali Mussa Daqduq, mastermind of a January 2007 attack that killed five US troops in Iraq, was killed in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced Sunday. This episode is a reality check on the recent Iran-US deal, where the speaker shares their skepticism about the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between the two nations. The agreement, which extends the cease-fire for sixty days, is not a peace treaty, but rather a handshake with a calendar attached to it. The speaker questions whether this deal is a genuine breakthrough or just a temporary reprieve. The conversation delves into the details of the MoU, highlighting the challenges of verifying Iran's nuclear program and the risks of appeasement. The speaker points out that the US has a history of ignoring or appeasing Iran, with both parties owning a piece of the current situation. The administration's theory of leverage, which incentivizes Iran to reach a final agreement, is also discussed. The speaker also touches on the TSA's new program, TSA Gold Plus, which aims to privatize airport security. Iran and the United States have reached a peace deal, with an official signing due to take place in Switzerland on Friday.   US President Donald Trump says it will "bring peace and security to the whole region" - while Tehran claims it "forced" the US to accept its terms.   The agreement was announced last night by Pakistan's prime minister, who has been acting as a mediator.  Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Helen McEntee has welcomed the announcement that an agreement has been reached.   She says she hopes there can now be full engagement from all parties to implement the terms, to "achieve a just and lasting peace across the region", including in Lebanon.  Minister McEntee says she'll discuss the latest developments with her EU counterparts when they meet in Luxembourg today.  To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Hassan Famaraz, an Iranian living in Ennis, and Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Limerick, Neil Robinson.   Image (c) Niphon subsri via Canva

In a special “mailbag” episode, Hoover senior fellows Sir Niall Ferguson, John Cochrane, and H.R. McMaster answer audience questions. Among the topics (after a brief opening segment devoted to the latest in the Iran-US impasse – aka, “Schrödinger's ceasefire”): who are today's great leaders; is “the American experiment” doomed, as some intellectuals posit; China's move to gold from dollar-denominated securities; the futures of the European Union and the UK's Reform movement; North Korea's relative silence; the cooled-down rhetoric of climate change; whether our PhD-wielding historians bother with televised historical dramas; thoughts on gentlemen-scholars' sartorial style (“buy [clothes] when you're a graduate student and wear them until they fall apart”); plus managerial lessons to be drawn from the recent successes of Sir Niall's beloved Arsenal football club.  Subscribe to GoodFellows for clarity on today's biggest social, economic, and geostrategic shifts — only on GoodFellows.
