The World Cup is as high as it gets in competition hang gliding and paragliding. For many it is the ultimate goal in cross country flying. But getting an invitation to fly in the world cup isn't very straightforward. First there are the many organizations- the FAI, CIVL, PWCA, and a nations flying organization (USHPA, BHPA, etc.). What's the difference between Cat 1 and Cat 2? What is the WPRS and how does it play into selection? What are letters and why are they important? How do you make the World's team and how is that different from a world cup? The road to a world cup isn't very straight, but with a little clarification of the acronyms, and an understanding of how it all works together you can navigate the process quite easily.

A decision on whether a civil sexual assault lawsuit against Prince Andrew can continue is expected soon, after a hearing in New York. During a virtual hearing this morning, Judge Lewis A Kaplan heard arguments over whether a 2009 confidentiality agreement by Jeffrey Epstein, which promises 500-thousand US dollars to Virginia Giuffre, prevents her from suing Prince Andrew. Ms Giuffre says she was a teenager when she became a victim of sex trafficking at the hands of the disgraced billionaire, and she says Prince Andrew was one of those whom sexually assaulted her during that time. Prince Andrew denies the claims. US correspondent Simon Marks spoke to Sarah Robson.

Aaron Levy was driving to Chiliwack, B.C., on a Saturday night when it started raining. Hard. There was so much water coming down, in fact, that he lost control of his car and had to call to get it towed. Levy didn't realize at the time how the heavy rainfall he experienced was just a taste of the historic deluge that drowned out huge swaths of southern British Columbia, killing at least five people and forcing thousands to evacuate their homes. Although the situation has stabilized somewhat, the danger is not over. More heavy rain is forecast for B.C. later this week, and residents are still scrambling to recover their homes, stay safe and wrap their heads around the new normal climate. Levy is broadcasting as much critical information as he can from his radio station, CIVL, operating out of the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford.
