Kelli is a lifelong equestrian. She grew up in 4-H and showing Appaloosas and then Quarter Horses. She is a graduate from Westfield State University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, she has been a Massachusetts State Police Dispatcher and First Responder since 2005. Currently, she is a 4-H leader and volunteer, the head western coach at Mount Holyoke College, Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Director At Large, AQHA and APHA Professional Horseman, Carded Judge with several associations, and in her spare time, an Animal Control Officer for three towns.   Kelli has been enjoying competing in Ranch events with her sons AQHA gelding, Socorro Mercedes.

If you a “friend” following you around all day blaming, complaining, and constantly criticizing you how long would you keep that person around. If you did keep them around what kind of mental state do you think you would be in. If your “friend” was constantly supported you, helped you get out of a negative state, and helped you take control of only the things you can control, how long would you keep this person around. What would your mental state look like with this person. Obviously the friend is YOU. Be your coach. Be your support system. Remove blaming and complaining about things you don't control that puts you in a negative state. Instead of “this driving sucks”, “I should catch up on that podcast”. Instead of “I can't do wall balls”, “I'm going to try that new technique Coach Kelli gave me the other day”. Be a support system for yourself. Be somebody you would want to be around. Why not make this universe the one where you're the best version of you? Last week we were driving back from the beach, and we listened to a podcast featuring the physicist Michio Kaku. Stay with me on this because it gets kind of deep and trippy. The idea of a multi-verse is that there are infinite universes, with infinite versions of infinite possibilities. At least that's my understanding of it. As MISSIO was explaining this, I had a thought and said to my husband, if there are infinite universes of infinite ‘Coach Kelli's;, why not make this one the best one? I question this one be the one where I connect best with my kids? Why should this one be the one where my teams give me energy and excitement every single day? Why should this one be the one where I get the best out of them, and help them become the best versions of themselves day in and day out? Why shouldn't this be the one with my staff are the best people I know? I couldn't come up with a good reason why not. So now I am in pursuit of making this universe the best one I can imagine. What challenge for you is if the possibilities were infinite and limitless, what would your goals and aspirations for your team be?

This time of year, as my sometimes over-scheduled Holiday plans ramp up, the weather cools, sunlight hours decrease, and I’m in-between my favorite sports (too much snow and cold for mountain biking but not yet enough for AT skiing – it’s a hard-knock life, I know), sometimes I need a little homemade pick-me-up. As in chocolate…yes, some delicious chocolate recipes. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not promoting emotional eating or trying to solve problems (besides hunger and fueling needs) with food.
