Was sind Kohlenhydrate eigentlich? Was sollten wir Frauen beachten? Eure Anastasia
Is everything we've been told about fat… wrong? In this episode, I sit down with Reproductive Endocrinologist & Fertility Specialist, Dr. Robert Kiltz, founder of CNY Fertility, to talk about infertility, gestational diabetes, insulin resistance, and the controversial idea that eating more fat — not less — may be the key to healing.Dr. Kiltz shares his personal health journey, how he began questioning conventional nutrition advice, and what he started noticing in his fertility practice when patients shifted toward paleo, keto, and even carnivore-style eating. We discuss rising infertility rates, pregnancy nutrition myths, blood sugar balance, liver health, inflammation, and why so many women today are being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. This episode will absolutely challenge the standard pregnancy nutrition narrative you've been receiving — and invite you to think more critically about what truly supports fertility and metabolic health. Here are some highlights from the episode: • Dr. Kiltz's unexpected journey from troubled teen to fertility specialist • Why infertility rates continue to rise — and what might actually be driving it • The connection between insulin, liver health, and gestational diabetes • How quickly hormones and blood sugar can begin to shift with dietary changes • Protein vs. fat — are we emphasizing the wrong one? • Whether you can really “eat too much” fat • The role inflammation may play in reproductive struggles • Why reproductive health reflects overall metabolic health • How mindset, faith, and stress impact healing and fertilityWhether you agree with everything shared or not, this conversation will help you ask better questions about what you're eating before and during pregnancy — and what truly nourishes your body while growing a baby.If you're trying to conceive, navigating gestational diabetes, or simply wanting to optimize your health for pregnancy, this is an episode you won't want to miss. Start of episode recap is at 13.41 In today's Friday solocast, Vanessa Spina breaks down the biggest takeaways from her interview with Dr. Paul Moughan—one of the world's leading experts on protein quality, amino acid digestibility, and how much of the protein you eat actually becomes usable by the body. If you've ever wondered why fat loss stalls in a deficit, why muscle can drop even when you "hit your protein," or why metabolic rate seems to slow during dieting—this episode explores a rarely discussed variable: utilizable protein and amino acid delivery to tissues.
In honor of Valentine's Day, I wanted to make a meal for my favorite Valentine — my Aussie. I made a three-course, all plant-based, high-protein, high-fiber, all-Vegemite meal while wearing Sea Eagles shorts as an ode to how much I love my Aussie. The mac and cheese has:half the calories, and twice the protein as traditional. The plant-based Vegemite Caesar has: half the calories, and three times the protein. And the plant-based Vegemite ice cream has: twice the protein and even some fiber! This was my favorite episode ever to film, and the recipes are some of my best work. I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Is low-carb better than low-fat? Should you be eating 120 grams of protein a day? The internet says yes, but the science says it's not that simple. In this episode, Dr. Lisa Oldson digs into Dr. Kevin Hall's groundbreaking NIH research to explain why your macro ratio matters far less than you think. The real key to weight loss? The quality of the food on your plate; not the ratio of macros in it. Plus, Dr. Lisa shares why she's never counted her own macros, what to know if you're on a GLP-1 medication, and how to find your NBA, your next best action, without overhauling your entire life. Thanks for listening! High Protein. Eure Anastasia

The US has released new dietary guidelines, and they’ve already caused a nutrition firestorm. Higher protein targets. More dairy. Fewer carbs. A tougher stance on ultra-processed foods. But do these changes actually matter, especially if you live in Australia? In this episode of The Nutrition Couch, Leanne Ward and Susie Burrell break down what’s changed, why it’s controversial, and what’s genuinely useful versus what can be ignored. Then we get practical, because real nutrition decisions happen in lunchboxes and supermarket aisles, not food pyramids. In this episode: The new US dietary guidelines and why they’ve divided dietitians Higher protein targets, dairy’s comeback, and the carb rethink What this could signal for future Australian guidelines Why ultra-processed foods are finally being called out Plus: A simple lunchbox formula that actually works Why kids’ lunches are often low in protein, and easy fixes The truth about protein meat snacks and “no nitrate” options A high-protein milk worth considering Are fermented veggies really worth it for gut health? Es gibt unzählige Ernährungsformen. Low Carb, Keto, vegan, High Protein, mediterran. Genau hier setzen Ernährungsinterventionen an. HEALTH NERDS. Mensch, einfach erklärt. Ein ALL EARS ON YOU Original Podcast
Jahresstart. Doch was steckt wirklich dahinter? Hilft High Protein wirklich beim Abnehmen? HEALTH NERDS. Mensch, einfach erklärt. Ein ALL EARS ON YOU Original Podcast.

High-protein diets and Mediterranean-style eating are often positioned as competing approaches, but the reality is more nuanced. Using a randomized controlled trial as the foundation, I walk through how these two diets compare for fat loss, body composition, and metabolic outcomes. Rather than framing this as an either–or debate, the focus is on extracting the best elements of both approaches and applying them in a way that actually fits real people and real coaching scenarios. Eve gives an overview of current and future consumer trends where dairy can play a role. Functional foods, health and wellness, high protein foods, fermented and cultured foods, women's health, brain health, and aging are all part of the mix. (7:26)The panelists discuss the healthfulness of saturated fats, the resurgence of butter, milk's bioactive compounds, and how best to reach the public about the health benefits of dairy. (10:41)Eve talks about marketing to Gen Z consumers, who are motivated by novelty. How do we reimagine a food that's been here for thousands of years? What new ways can we talk about it? What ways can we optimize dairy science and research to show up in generative systems like ChatGPT? (20:34)The group then tackles the topic of lactose. Lactose and honey are the only two sugars not made by plants. Why is it lactose that is in the milk of mammals? Dr. Jiminez-Flores thinks lactose is a dark horse in dairy and we have much yet to discover about it. He notes that some milk oligosaccharides are not digested by babies, but are used by bacteria in the development of a healthy microbiome. Dr. Lucy notes that dairy also contains peptides that have been found to reduce hypertension. The group also delves into how dairy products can be part of preventative health care. (23:53)Do consumers perceive dairy products to be minimally processed? Eve explains that dairy is perceived as a clean, fresh food. Given the current trend to reduce additives and food dyes, she sees potential for dairy food science innovation in this area. Dr. Aldrich talks about the glycemic index of lactose-free milk. (38:13)The panelists agree that dairy has a great upcycling story to tell. Converting fiber into milk and meat and feeding non-human grade byproducts are just two examples. Eve notes that younger consumers care about sustainability, but there's a huge “say-do” gap: 76% of North American consumers identify as caring about conscious and sustainable practices, but less than 40% actually act on those values when making purchases. The panel also notes that whey is another great upcycling story. Dr. Jiminez-Flores emphasizes how important consumer trust in science and research is, and how we are currently experiencing a loss of that trust. (45:48)Panelists share their take-home thoughts. This episode of The Better Life with Dr Pinkston features Dr Pinkston and Ray Solano from PD Labs, focusing on how to navigate and survive the holidays—dubbed the "Super Bowl of Sugar" (Halloween to Valentine's Day)—without derailing your health goals. The discussion centers on research challenging restrictive dieting, suggesting that unrestricted eating of nutritious food, layered with non-digestible fiber (nuts, seeds, berries) to slow sugar absorption, can offer similar benefits to fasting without the negative effects. Key Takeaways: Mindful Holiday Strategy: The holidays are a time for balance and not gaining weight, rather than focusing intensely on losing it. The Problem with Restriction: Restrictive diets (like extreme keto or carnivore) can backfire psychologically and physically. Research suggests high protein without proper carbohydrates can negatively affect longevity. The "Eat Human" Approach: Focus on a common-sense approach: avoid processed foods, know your intolerances, and aim for a balance of protein, fat, and carbs (suggested ratio: 40% protein, 30% fat, 30% carb) in every meal. Breakfast is Key: Start the day with high protein (40 grams) to stabilize blood sugars, reducing cravings later. Avoid traditional high-carb breakfasts like instant oatmeal. Stay Hydrated & Stress-Free: Managing stress with simple supplements like Magnesium Glycinate and Theanine (or cortisol managers like Triquillata) is crucial, as stress often leads to poor eating choices. Next-Generation Health: Ray Solano introduces PD Labs' work on peptides (like the GLP-1 incretins) and their innovative two-year project to make these high-molecular-weight molecules available transdermally (non-injectable) by Christmas, transforming chronic disease prevention. The conversation emphasizes starting your health recovery journey now, not waiting for a "magical time" in January.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, David joins for his third appearance on The Drive to bring clarity to one of the most contentious topics in modern nutrition—protein. He explores the historical pattern of demonizing macronutrients, the origins and limitations of the RDA for protein, and what the evidence really says about higher protein intake, muscle protein synthesis, and whether concerns about harm are supported by actual data. He also discusses the challenges of conducting rigorous nutrition studies, including the limits of epidemiology and crossover designs, as well as conflicts of interest in nutrition science and why transparency around data, methods, and logic matter more than funding sources. The episode closes with a discussion on processed and ultra-processed foods, the public health challenges of tackling obesity, and whether future solutions may depend more on drugs like GLP-1 agonists or broader societal changes. This is part one of a two-part deep dive on protein, setting the stage for next week's conversation with Rhonda Patrick. We discuss: The cyclical pattern of demonizing different macronutrients in nutrition and why protein has recently become the latest target of controversy [3:15]; The origin and limits of the protein RDA: from survival thresholds to modern optimization [6:30]; Trust vs. trustworthiness: why data, methods, and logic matter more than motives in science [13:30]; The challenges of nutrition science: methodological limits, emotional bias, and the path to honest progress [17:15]; Why the protein RDA is largely inadequate for most people, and the lack of human evidence that high protein intake is harmful [30:30]; Understanding the dose-response curve for muscle protein synthesis as protein intake increases [45:15]; Why nutrition trials are chronically underpowered due to weak economic incentives, and how this skews evidence quality and perceptions of conflict [48:15]; The limitations and biases of nutrition epidemiology, and the potential role of AI-assisted review to improve it [56:15]; The lack of compelling evidence of harm with higher protein intake, and why we should shift away from assuming danger [1:04:15]; Pragmatic targets for protein intake [1:09:30]; Defining processed and ultra-processed foods and whether they are inherently harmful [1:16:15]; The search for a guiding principle of what's healthy to eat: simple heuristics vs. judging foods by their molecular composition [1:25:00]; Why conventional public health interventions for obesity have largely failed [1:38:15]; Two ideas from David for addressing the metabolic health problem in society [1:42:30]; The potential of GLP-1 agonists to play a large role in public health [1:46:30]; and More. For years, many believed that eating more protein would block the body's cellular clean-up process, and that only low-protein fasting diets could deliver longevity benefits.
