Anna Kessel has been writing about women in sports for nearly two decades. Her work — especially when it comes to women's football — has been so impactful, she was awarded a Most Excellent Order of the British Empire as part of the 90th birthday honors of Queen Elizabeth II. Many consider her book, Eat Sweat Play, to be a must-read at the nexus of feminism and fitness. On this episode, Kessel breaks down the history of women's athletics, tells us why societal views are largely to blame for barriers to entry, and shares how we can all play a role in evolving the narrative of women's place in sports. Phil Kessel set the NHL Ironman record by playing in his 890th consecutive game. He also potted the first goal of the game as VGK continued its domination over the San Jose Sharks with a 4-2 road victory. VGK continued to have a second period lapse, they haven't scored a goal in 100:17 in period two. But they rallied for three goals in the third period with Shea Theodore, William Karlsson and Mark Stone delivering goals. Adin Hill started in net for VGK and had 29 saves. VGK's defense has been helping its goalies a lot this season. Tony and Chris discussed whether Phil Kessel is a Hall of Famer also. Learn more about your ad choices.
If you want your business to last for 40 or 50 years, think about doing everything long-term – whether in your relationships, partnerships, and investments. And a mindful approach to real estate investing plays an essential part. Ask Kirk Kessel. Kirk has been in the real estate investing business for over 40 years. It is almost the weekend, so on today's episode of Locked On Predators Nick and Ann celebrate another Fun Friday. Before the fun of Fun Friday can begin though, Nick and Ann have a brief discussion about the death of the "Kessel to Nashville" dream and talk about what the Preds may have lost as Phil the Thrill packs his bags for Vegas. Moving past that recent NHL news, Nick and Ann dive into a heated game of "Takes From a Hat". We each put Nashville Predators and NHL related questions in a hat and draw a few out leading to quite the lively discussion and debate. In today's game we tackle some lighthearted questions like "If you weren't following the Nashville Predators, which team would you be rooting for and why?", "What is a good nickname for Head Coach John Hynes?", and "Which Predators wedding do you wish you'd been invited to this summer?" Never afraid of the spicy hot takes, Nick and Ann also deliberate on a few big questions about the Predators. We break down the often murmured hot take that the 2017 Predators Stanley Cup run was just a fluke, disagree on whether Eeli Tolvanen or new San Jose Shark Luke Kunin will have a rebound season, and imagine what a Preds "super soldier" on ice would be like. (Hint: we think there may be one player in gold who is already close to "super soldier" status.) BetOnline Today's Episode is brought to you by BetOnline. With Nazem Kadri finally off the free agent market, the number of "big name" players available is dwindling this off season. But are there still good pieces - and deals - to be had before training camp? On today's Locked On Predators, Nick and Ann take a look at a handful of free agents who have yet to sign with a team since July 13 but could still potentially move the needle for a team looking for a little extra punch going into 2022-2023. First up, we take a look at the veteran Nick and Ann have longed for David Poile to call since last season - Phil Kessel. Kessel has still not signed with a team, and we talk about what the hold up might be. What is Kessel looking for and is there any chance the Nashville Predators could still snag Kessel? Another former Predator on the free agency market is defenseman P.K. Subban. Nick and Ann discuss where Subban's game is now compared to his time in Nashville, and how we each feel about a Preds defensive pairing involving P.K. that is never going to happen. We'll also tell you what we really want to see P.K. doing in the future. Paul Stasney's 20+ goal performance makes him an appealing veteran for a few potential NHL teams, but where could the 36 year old potentially land? We tell you how we think these free agents will fare before the season begins. BetOnline Today's Episode is brought to you by BetOnline.
