Today I'm revisiting the common idea that hormone pellets are somehow worse or more dangerous than other options for testosterone delivery. Derogatory language like “pellet pushers” is divisive and unhelpful, and suggests that all providers who prescribe pellets are practicing irresponsibly. While irresponsible providers exist in all fields, well educated menopause experts find that pellets are a viable option for patients who choose them, after being given the pros and cons of all available hormone delivery methods. Remember that we do not have an FDA approved testosterone product available for women, so all testosterone for women comes from a compounding pharmacy- and whether it is a cream, a pellet or a sublingual troche, it's exactly the same product, and the delivery method should be the patient's choice.

An employment expert says there's a balance between free speech and unprofessionalism when dismissing staff for making inappropriate comments. 16 Immigration NZ staff have been disciplined for derogatory messages about visa applicants on Teams. 10 workers have been either dismissed or issued a formal warning already. Max Whitehead told Andrew Dickens employers need to be careful of free speech. He says people are entitled to say what they want to some extent, but an employer is likely to be reactive to comments. Tinetti claims Education Minister Erica Stanford called her a 'stupid b....' after a fiery exchange during Question Time. Stanford withdrew and apologised. Last week, Labour's Willie Jackson was forced to leave the House when he wouldn't apologise for calling David Seymour a liar. Tinetti says it's fair to also call out Stanford. "Willie got thrown out of the House by the Speaker for that. So, you know, there is a consequence to that, that's why we have the rules and that's why we have consequences." Could the statement, "A member will not make any derogatory or insulting remark against the Association" be perceived as a restriction to your free speech as a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)? What if the ACA didn't provide you with a definition of what a derogatory or insulting remark was? And what if the Code of Ethics and Practice requires you as a member, to take your concern only to the Secretary and then to abide by their direction to you, yet the information on who the Secretary is, is not readily accessible (ie, they are not included on the website with the rest of the Employees), nor is their contact information readily accessible and nor is any information provided about the Directions that the Secretary can provide to you? The latest version of the Code of Ethics and Practice V16 seems to be largely consistent with its previous V15 except for the introduction of 16.5: Responsibility to Colleagues and Others, subsection iv. My guidance to members of the ACA is to reflect on the newest clause and consider requesting definitions of 'criticism', 'derogatory remark', and 'insulting remark' are included in the Definitions section of the Code; that the details and contact information for the Secretary be included in 16.5 (iv) for ease of reference and that a list of Directions that can be made by the Secretary are also included for transparency. This aside, other suggestions would be for the ACA to incorporate inclusive language in the Code and to include definitions of Counsellors v Registered Counsellors. This is important as the two terms are used at different times throughout the document without explanation. It is difficult for members to know what applies to them (or not) without such definitions. I am not a member of the ACA and have attempted to be impartial with respect to the critique / overview of the Code. Crusader chief executive Colin Mansbridge has offered a defence after their coach was scrutinised after their ten-loss Super Rugby season. Coach Rob Penney is in hot water after getting caught referring to a journalist in a derogatory manner after facing questions over his future in the role. Penney's apologised to Mansbridge - who in turn apologised to the reporter. Mansbridge says Penney's apology for his actions was satisfactory. EA communities tend to be a professional space and a social space, all at once. This reality can often involve complex power dynamics that require careful attention. To maintain safe spaces, it is crucial to establish guiding rules for our communities. In this post, I would like to share EA Israel's concise code of conduct for preventing sexual harassment, which is based on Israeli law. Before diving into that, we suggest some practical steps you can take to promote the safety of your community. What can you do to prevent sexual harassment in your EA community? As a community manager Designate a responsible person, either a team member or volunteer, dedicated to sexual harassment prevention and community health in your community. This person should be committed to this subject, ideally with some professional experience in dealing with emotionally challenging situation. Nominate another person, preferably from a different gender, as a contact person when the main representative is unavailable / connected to the harassment case / just in case someone prefers to speak with someone else. Ensure they receive professional training, including emotional and legal aspects, that they are able to commit to this role for a long-enough duration, and that they establish a code of conduct against sexual harassment. As a community health and preventing sexual harassment representative Set a code of conduct to prevent sexual harassment and publish it widely, so that every old and new community member encounters it at some point. Clearly identify yourself as the primary point of contact for addressing harassment issues, and make it super-easy to contact you. As a community member Ask your community manager to nominate a responsible person for sexual harassment prevention and community health. Ask for the adoption of a code of conduct, such as the one shared in this post, or encourage the development of a customized code of conduct that suits your community's needs and fits the local law. You, as an EA worker or a community member, can help to create an environment where everyone feels respected and protected. EA Israel's Code of Conduct for preventing sexual harassment The rest of this section is EA Israel's short version code of conduct, based on the Israeli law. Effective Altruism Israel strives to create a sense of safety and comfort among its staff and community. Sexual harassment is strictly against the organization's policy. Prohibited acts according to the law Threatening or coercing a person to engage in acts of a sexual nature. Indecent acts / lascivious behaviour. Repeated proposals of a sexually oriented nature, even if the person to whom the proposals are directed has shown a lack of interest in them. However, there is no need to demonstrate a "lack of interest" in a relationship of authority with an inherent power imbalance, or in a dependent, educational or therapeutic relationship with a minor, a patient, or someone defenseless in other ways. Persistent references focused on a person's sex or sexuality, even if the person to whom the behavior is directed has shown disinterest. There is no need to demonstrate "lack of interest" in cases mentioned in paragraph (3) above. Derogatory or demeaning treatment towards a person regarding their sex or sexuality, including their sexual orientation, whether or not they have expressed that it bothers them. Publishing a photograph, film, or recording that focuses on a person's sexuality, in circumstances where the publication may degrade or demean the person, and consent for publication has not been given.
