Jill and Tom are both in studio this week. Jill talked a little about why she's been away from the show, including a quick summary of the vehicles she's recently seen and her time preparing for this year's Rebelle Rally. Jill talked about her test drive of the 2024 GMC Denali 2500 Ultimate, a super-premium trim-level addition to the maker's pickup-truck lineup. Tom talked briefly about the Fisker Alaska, an electric midsize pickup due for the 2025 model year. In the second segment the crew is joined by Sam Fiorani of AutoForecast Solutions. Sam walked Jill and Tom through a number of topics, including the UAW/Detroit 3 labor-contract negotiations, Chinese cars being exported to the West, and the  Radnor Hunt Concours  auto show running from September 8-10 in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Jill is subjected to Tom's “Chevrolet or Oldsmobile” quiz in segment three.

Benjamin spends a significant amount of time talking about the new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate, a truck that has luxury ambitions and a high-end price. While Sami balks at its MSRP, Ben goes through all the reasons this truck is worth it, the details of its emergency redesign, and why it needed to impress to help us forget all about the disappointing outgoing model. Then Sami chimes in to talk about his recent expereince in the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, and his journey to 10 different DC Fast Charging stations in his area. He barely made it out of his experience alive, witnessing plugs wrapped in duct Tape, plenty of exposed wires, chargers with big, intimidating red levers, and of course funky apps. No doubt about it, the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 1500 is the boss’s pickup. It even has the trick MultiPro tailgate that has more positions than a politician. But there are a lot of luxury trucks to choose from these days. Tom Voelk looks at loaded model with the big 6.2-liter V8 to find out if it’s worth the retail price of $67,000. See? It is the boss’s truck.

The 2020 Toyota Supra isn't quite here yet, but Sami spends a day on the racetrack behind the wheel of a Gazoo Racing prototype Supra at Jarama, Spain, while also piloting it through the streets of Madrid. Driven back to back against the Toyota GT86, it raises almost as many questions as it answers, and the pair go deep on what it means for a car with a history as long as the Supra to ride entirely on BMW mechanicals. Benjamin is back from the Arctic Ocean after driving the region's only permanent road to the northern shore in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, a truck that shakes out much better than its luxury-focused GMC Sierra Denali platform-twin.

Is the 2018 Acura NSX the ultimate example of soulless supercar perfection? Sami discovers that an amazing powetrain and incredible performance statistics don't make for a mesmerizing drive experience - but that the 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder that he drove the next day - also at Monterey Car Week - more than made up for it. Benjamin, on the other hand, is less impressed by the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali, a full-size pickup that comes across more like a missed opportunity than anything else after his time behind the wheel on the coastal roads of Newfoundland. Finally, the two investigate claims that Volkswagen has been controlling the weather, James Bond-style, at one of their Mexican factories.

Do you need a 475 horsepower, track-ready SUV? Does anyone? The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT gets road-tested by both Benjamin and Sami this week, who are both in love with its exhaust note and appalled by its fuel economy. Sami also ponders the missed opportunity that is the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST, the 'performance' edition of the Durango's direct competitor that leaves a lot on the table. The pair also provide final thoughts on the departing 2018 GMC Sierra Denali, what it's like to attend the Bob Bondurant driving school with Bill Goldberg, and why a robot like the Honda Asimo gets to retire at the age of 18.

Is the 2018 GMC Sierra Denali falling behind the pack just prior to its complete redesign this fall? After towing with it this past week, Sami certainly thinks so - especially compared to the 2018 Ford F-150 that Benjamin was driving. The pair also discuss their shared time in the 2018 Volvo S90 T8, debate the merits of its battery power, and try to figure out why Sami is so in love with the red convertible top on the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata.
