When a car is reviewed so well that one of our hosts actually considers buying one, you know its going to be a good podcast discussion. This week starts off with such talk with Benjamin's review of the 2026 GMC Canyon AT4, which was so perfectly suited for his lifestyle that he seriously pulled up the spreadsheets and budgets to see if it could work for him. Hear what makes this truck so good, and maybe one of the best mid-size trucks on the market. Then Sami jumps in with a review of the only-for-Canada (so far) 2026 Kia EV4, something he said was revolting to look at when Benjamin reviewed it last month, but now has much more to talk about after testing it for a week. He dishes his pros and cons with this affordable EV and comes out feeling pretty good about the state of entry-level electric cars. Thanks for listening!

Many think that we in America should change the way we get around every day, increasing our use of public transportation, electric cars and commuting by bicycle much as they do in Europe. But is that a practical solution for the average American? To find out, Host Jack Nerad traveled to two major European capitals — London and Copenhagen — to find out how Europeans get to work, to the grocery store and to all the other places they need to go on a day-to-day basis. Over the course of a week in Europe, Nerad took about every kind of European transport imaginable, from planes to trains, subways, cabs, canal boats, and…well, even walking. After sampling them all he's come to some definite conclusions. In this episode of America on the Road, he will share what he discovered. In a discussion with Co-Host Chris Teague, he will offer his thoughts on how the typical American would react to the European style of transport. He'll point out the positives and negatives of how they travel “over there.” In the road test portion of this week's show, Teague will deliver his thoughts on his week-long evaluation of the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4 X AEV Edition. It's not only a mouthful, but it is also the most off-road-capable GMC Canyon ever. Also in the road test segment, Nerad will outline his findings after a week of driving the luxurious $99,000 Genesis G90 AWD 3.5T E-Supercharger. Can it compete with the op large luxury sedans from the vaunted German makes? Is the E-Supercharger really a thing? Leading the news this week, there is a lot going on at Tesla as the company tries to get Elon's Musk's multi-billion-dollar back pay reinstated at the same time that the company is laying off 10 percent of its workforce. We have more on that soap opera in this week's show. While Tesla is struggling, Ford and Honda have issues of their own. Ford is recalling nearly half a million vehicles over sudden loss of power, while Honda is dealing with an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over its automatic emergency braking system that sometimes hits the brakes when there is no emergency. We'll have details on both stories. And Ford Motor Company Chairman Bill Ford just told an industry gathering that politicians are a big problem for the auto industry. Hmm, this just in? We'll have more of his remarks and our comments as this week's AOTR rolls into your ear canals. Thank you for joining us. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com
Can you use compression fitting on Brake Lines? NO NO NO and here is why. After brake and wheel bearings my Jeep Wrangler drags when turning and pulling into lot. Is it possible? 2019 GMC Canyon falls on its face and has no power.

Luxury knows few bounds, and that lack of limits extends itself to the Unnamed Automotive Podcast this week. First up is the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali, a high-end version of a premium mid-sized pickup . As the Canyon is only available with a 2.7L turbo engine and with a specific cab and bed arrangement, it'll be interesting to hear how Benjamin feels about this so-called luxury truck—and of course, whether General Motors can get its build quality up to snuff. Then Sami talks about electrification in the luxury world, as he recently had a go in the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre. A large, two door EV with an asking price north of $400,000, the Spectre goes against recent trends in the luxury EV space, and has several reasons to be so counter-culture. Its luxury experience comes from feeling special, and the Spectre has high hopes to make our esteemed hosts feel anything at all. Then the guys talk about reader submitted safari cars before closing off the podcast. Thanks for listening!
The Nissan Frontier started what promises to be a parade of all-new midsize pickup trucks over the course of the next year. General Motors has already started to sell its brand-new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Soon Ford will follow suit with its completely new 2024 Ford Ranger that we detailed for you last week. And Toyota has revealed its 2024 Toyota Tacoma, the completely revamped version of the sales leader in the segment. So how does the 2023 Nissan Frontier stack up in this flurry of activity on the midsize truck front? To find out, Co-Host Chris Teague put the Frontier through a series of grueling and practical tests in his home base of Maine. And he discovered that the V6-powered Frontier is not only a good choice among the current competitors but will also hold its own against the newcomers as they arrive in showrooms over the next several months. He'll share the details in this episode. While Chris Teague was wringing out the Nissan pickup, Host Jack Nerad took on a different challenge. He and his family used the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid as their vehicle of choice to move his youngest daughter out of her college apartment. The trek involved about 500 miles of driving on freeways, rural roads, and city streets. Was the minivan able to swallow up all the accumulated possessions of a fourth-year college student? We'll have the answer for you coming up. Were you thinking of buying a low-priced Chevy Silverado battery-electric pickup when they come to market next year? Well, you might want to think again. There's a lot going on in EV Truckland these days, and we'll give you the details. Also in the news, two big names in performance cars are teaming up for what should a very exciting collaboration. We'll tell you what brands we're talking about and what their plans are coming up. And in the True Crime Files Automotive Edition, the highest German federal court has ruled that the companies responsible for Dieselgate owe their customers compensation. It could cost them tens of millions of dollars. We'll tell you more later in this episode. Our special guest this week is Brad Gieske, chief UX designer at Dodge. Infotainment is something we talk about a lot of the show because it is so important to so many of us. So we'll chat with Brad about the latest trends in vehicle entertainment and information. And we'll take a special look at the UX in the all-new 2023 Dodge Hornet. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, YourTestDriver.com, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the coolest truck in the Ford stable. This week AOTR Co-Host Chris Teague got the chance to match it up against the toughest tests Maine has to offer, including heavy-duty off-road driving and, toughest of all, a round trip to the home improvement store to get patio bricks and 50-pound bags of mulch. How did the truck do in those difficult circumstances? We'll tell you in this episode. While Chris Teague was hauling bricks, Host Jack Nerad was hauling ass in the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 luxury crossover SUV. An appealing vehicle with some serious performance chops, the battery-electric GV70 won his praise for its 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. With 54 more horsepower and 125 lb-ft more torque than the gasoline-powered GV70, the electric SUV was hard not to like. That brings us to our special guest this week, an expert on battery-electric SUVs. Jonathan Chen is a senior product expert at VinFast, a Vietnam-based automaker that is just entering the U.S. market. We recently got a chance to drive the VinFast VF8 battery-electric crossover SUV, and we'll discuss that and VinFast plans for its American launch. In the news, it is game-on in the midsize truck segment with an all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma getting ready to do battle with an all-new 2024 Ford Ranger, all-new 2024 Chevrolet Colorado, and all-new 2024 GMC Canyon. The confluence of all these new trucks is rarer than sobriety at a frat party. We'll tell you how they stack up. A new consumer survey shows that many American car buyers want electric vehicles. But there is one big hangup that prevents many of them from buying one. We'll tell you what that is and more on the survey in this episode. BMW might make a production vehicle out of a recent concept car that caused a lot of buzz. We'll give you details on that. And Stellantis is recalling a lot of vehicles because of a fire risk. More on that too.
