We need to talk about those Mother's Day expectations. Did you get to relax? If you've got young ones, the answer is most likely no. Once again, for Mother's Day Kelly just wants to be dad for a day. But not all was lost, she did get some new Crocs. Unfortunately, Tyler got her two pairs with the instructions to return the ones she didn't want. So her present just made more work.  But speaking of Crocs, talk about a brand that has been able to adapt with changing trends. There are so many brands that haven't been able to do the same. Where are Juicy Couture and Tom's shoes? Speaking of trends, Kelly is predicting that the next big food trend is pistachios.  Lizz needs to talk about the new version of Rodney Atkin's song "Watching You" with his now 23 year old son. Is this what she has to look forward to? It's making her dread the day her sons grow up and start to sing in cursive (which is a thing).  Moving on to some more enjoyable moments in music, Kelly and Lizz are presenting the Model Line-up of kids songs that go hard! These are the ones that you don't turn off when it starts to play and the kids aren't around. Yes, there are a lot of Disney tunes on this list. Who had the better picks - Kelly or Lizz?  George's birthday is quickly approaching and Kelly is giving up her "no birthday parties every year" rule and planning a big bash. Will there be a reptile guy? Yes! But please no gifts... Will anyone actually abide by that rule? Maybe it's time to give up that rule too because not everything is worth having a take on.  In Industry News, the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is on the way and there is a lot to talk about. Plus, why not to freak out about the new car seat standards are nothing to freak out over.  Finally, in Ditch the Drive-Thru a listener sent in a pineapple pork chops recipe that is perfect for summer. And stick around through the end for the Chat GPT hack you're going to want to use tonight!  Today's episode is brought to you by Clean Simple Eats. From multi million dollar divorces to why marriages fail, Sexton gives his perspective as someone who's seen relationships at their worst. He discusses expensive settlements, entrepreneur marriages and reveals the real cause of divorce. James Sexton REVEALS: The real cause of divorce How he manipulates emotions for a living His thoughts on prenups Dealing with narcissistic clients How he manipulates emotions for a living The most expensive divorce he handled Whether entrepreneurs make good spouses BEST MOMENTS "I'm a good ex-husband. I don't think I was a great husband, I'm impatient, I love my work. I don't think I love anything as much as I love my work so I don't know what that says." "56% of marriages end in divorce and yet it's assumed that it's something you should do and to add to that, 86% of people who get divorced are remarried within five years of their divorce." "The people I represent you've never heard of and they could buy those celebrities 10 times over. They drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee, they wear a Timex watch. They're not posh. They're just people who look like they're no one." "I divorce the person we marry, and I think that there's a lid for every pot. I think that it's really less about the individual character... it's also about finding someone that's complimentary to you." Shoot us a Text.Today we're talking about the legendary stunts of the Detroit Auto Show, the stabilization of used car prices after pandemic volatility, and Starbucks shutting down stores for a barista reboot under its new CEO.The Detroit Auto Show has long been a stage for iconic moments, from smashing Jeeps through glass to launching entire luxury brands. Once the epicenter of automotive innovation, the event has struggled in recent years to maintain relevance amid rising costs, digital marketing trends, and competing global expos.During the '90s and early 2000s, the show was the must-attend event for automakers and media, with 4,000 journalists. Some theatrical reveals included Bob Lutz driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee through a plate glass window in 1992, a Dodge Ram crashing through cardboard in 1993, Kermit the Frog driving a minivan in 1995, and a cattle drive introducing the 2009 Dodge Ram.Automakers invested millions in jaw-dropping spectacles, like Cirque du Soleil performances and celebrity appearances, making it a race to outdo each other every year. The rise of CES and specialty expos, coupled with automakers shifting to digital-first marketing strategies, diluted the Detroit show's dominance. The Detroit Auto Show has since returned to its January roots, focusing on engaging consumers rather than relying on the media spectacle it once was."The world has changed. That is reflected in the auto show," said David Cole, chairman emeritus of the Center for Automotive Research. This year's show will be January 10 to January 20, 2025, at Huntington Place in DetroitUsed vehicle prices are expected to stabilize further in 2025, bringing relief to buyers after years of pandemic-induced volatility. While still higher than pre-pandemic levels, prices are trending toward normalization.Cox Automotive predicts wholesale prices will end 2025 up 1.4% compared to December 2024.Prices surged 46.6% in 2021 and 14.2% in 2020 but dropped sharply in 2022 and 2023.Retail prices remain slow to decline, with December's average listing at $25,565, down 3% year over year.Used vehicle sales are forecast to rise 1% in 2025, with 20.1 million retail sales.Starbucks is hosting a mandatory three-hour training session later this month as part of CEO Brian Niccol's effort to revitalize the brand. Niccol's said in a session description,“We will refocus on what has always set Starbucks apart — a welcoming coffeehouse,” The training, titled "Welcome Back to Starbucks," will run from January 21-26, with employees attending at staggered times.Stores may close dining rooms but keep drive-thrus open to accommodate the sessions.Niccol, known for his turnaround at Chipotle, has already introduced changes like faster drink prep and self-service condiment bars.Employees hope for additional workflow adjustments to streamline operations and better balance quick Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Criminals keep coming up with new schemes to part car owners from their vehicles. In this video, you'll learn about yet another trick car thieves use to snatch your car from right under your nose. You'll also find out which cars are targeted the most frequently. SUMMARY: According to the FBI's statistics, 2 cars are stolen every minute in the US. This adds up to almost 3,000 cars a day! According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the most targeted cars are the Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Ford pickups, Chevrolet pickups, Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Dodge pickups, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Impala, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The largest number of car thefts occur on Halloween, followed by Labor Day. On New Year's Day, the chances of losing your car are also pretty high. As soon as you get out of your car to get a closer look at this mysterious banknote, criminals will jump into action. They will get into your car and drive off at record-breaking speed. Walk around your car to check if anything is amiss before you unlock it and start the engine. One sure sign that you're in danger is an almost empty parking lot and another car parked next to yours with somebody sitting inside. A car thief may bump against your car to check if you have an alarm. Many car alarms are so sensitive that a loud motorbike or a rumbling truck can set them off. Some criminals cause car accidents on purpose. For example, they hit another car at the traffic lights. Sometimes you make the life of car thieves much easier without realizing it. Lots of people keep their spare keys inside their car or in a special magnetic box attached to the underside of their vehicle. Don't leave your spare keys inside your car! Keep them at home, or ask your family members or friends to look after them. And make sure there isn't a set of spare keys in your car that you know nothing about. Shoot us a Text.Welcome to Tuesday! Paul's hanging out at Vincue Unleashed, Kyle's at his desk and we've got news to talk about, like how the US's new rule on Chinese software in cars could affect OEMs, how Stellantis is going about its CEO search, and how Google is making Gemini a part of all Workspace accounts.Show Notes with links:The U.S. Commerce Department is considering a new rule that could block automakers like General Motors and Ford from importing vehicles made in China. The move is part of a broader effort to curb the use of Chinese technology, particularly software and hardware, due to national security concerns.GM's Buick Envision and Ford's Lincoln Nautilus, both assembled in China, would be directly impacted and the rule could also affect other automakers, including Volvo and BYD.GM sold about 22,000 Envisions, and Ford sold 17,500 Nautilus crossovers in the U.S. during the first half of 2024.Automakers would need to move production outside of China or apply for specific authorizations to continue selling affected models.Liz Cannon from the Commerce Department said, "Any vehicle manufactured in China and sold in the U.S. would fall within the prohibitions."Stellantis announced it has begun the search for a successor to CEO Carlos Tavares, with his contract expiring in January 2026. While Tavares has led the company since 2021 and made it highly profitable, recent issues in North America are driving the company to refocus. The CEO search is routine, but the company faces pressure due to declining North American sales and profits. In response, Stellantis is slashing vehicle inventories by 100,000 units by early 2025 and has already reduced 40,000 vehicles.CFO Natalie Knight said inventory and pricing discipline are key strategies to weather the EV transition, with some models, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Compass, seeing price cuts.Tavares has implemented aggressive cost-cutting measures, including job cuts and a plan to source 80% of parts from low-cost countries by 2028.“We are living in very difficult times where there are going to be winners and losers, and a lot about being the winner is being the last man standing," Knight saidGoogle is making its Gemini AI a central part of its Workspace productivity suite, a move that could significantly boost the chatbot's user base across various industries.Gemini AI will now be included in Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans starting in Q4, eliminating the need for a separate Gemini add-on, streamlining AI use for Workspace customers.Google assures that Gemini won't use organizational data to train its AI model and complies with enterprise-grade privacy standards like SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27701.Workspace Administrators will manage data storage for generated responses and user prompts, adding control and security.Google is also introducing the "Security Advisor" tool to help IT administrators protect againstHosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

In this episode, The Gritty Nurses and Nurse Matthew discuss two juxtaposing cases: first of a nurse who uploaded a video showing her at a strip club before her shift and a horrifying case of a nurse who fell asleep in her car and then accidentally drove off the top floor of a parking garage. We discuss both cases, the circumstances around each, the "upload/pick me" culture and how common falling asleep while driving among shift workers are. Details of Case 2: "I was so exhausted..." A Boston nurse was injured after driving off the top floor of a parking garage. Authorities responded to the incident at Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, according to a police report from the Boston Police Department. Responding officers found a “heavily damaged” 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee next to the garage, as well as a piece of railing that appeared to match the railing on the garage's roof. Boston fire officials reportedly informed police that a vehicle had plunged off the top of the parking garage, though it was unclear how. The case, primarily focused on the rights of Black voters, questioned the protection of "coalition" districts where Black, Hispanic, and Asian voters collectively influence outcomes. Despite concerns about changes, Judge Jones noted the absence of evidence regarding Asian and Hispanic voting behavior in the trial. The judge hinted at a forthcoming decision to meet a mid-January deadline for the 2024 elections, emphasizing the need to avoid addressing new alleged violations within a constrained timeframe. STORY 2: Kansas City Woman Dead After Crash in Northeast Cobb A fatal crash near Lake Allatoona in northeast Cobb resulted in the death of Angela Smith from Kansas City, Kansas, and left three others seriously injured. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Monday when a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Curtis Johnson collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Samaria Nelson. The Hyundai, turning onto Black Acre Trail from Cobb Parkway, entered the path of the oncoming Jeep, leading to a collision that caused the Hyundai to overturn. Angela Smith, along with Jimmy Smith, Monique Smith, and Nelson, sustained serious injuries and were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where Angela Smith succumbed to her injuries. Johnson reported an injury but did not require hospitalization. STORY 3: No. 9: Congressional and General Assembly Maps Shake Up Cobb In response to a federal judge's ruling that Georgia's GOP-drawn congressional maps violated the Voting Rights Act, proposed new maps aim to create majority-Black districts, reshaping the 6th and 7th Congressional Districts. The 6th, currently represented by Republican Rich McCormick, would become majority-Black, while the 7th would shift to majority-white and Republican-leaning. Republicans seek compliance with the judge's order while maintaining a 9-5 Republican-Democrat split in the delegation. U.S. District Judge Steve Jones, focused on Black voters' rights, may not consider other minorities' impacts before a mid-January decision. The proposed state legislative maps increase Cobb County's representation, potentially leading to primary battles. Cobb's Senate delegation would see changes, maintaining a majority-Democratic composition.   We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. The statue, expected to be completed by March, was designed by a North Carolina-based team led by David Wilson. The $125,000 memorial, to be located in front of Smyrna's history museum, features a life-size statue of Williams holding a shovel against a perforated metal backdrop depicting nurses from Georgia's first Black hospital, which Williams helped open in the 1940s. The design underwent changes to accurately reflect Williams' image and historical significance. The restaurant, known for exploiting Williams' legacy, closed in 1992 and was demolished in 2022, sparking community debates about preserving history. The approved statue design is hailed for its improved representation and connection with the community. STORY 5: Cobb Approves Guthrie's Drive-Thru in East Cobb The Cobb Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Guthrie's request to open a drive-thru-only restaurant at the Johnson Ferry and Lower Roswell roads intersection in east Cobb. Despite concerns from the East Cobb Civic Association regarding traffic and operating hours, the commission approved the restaurant based on completed traffic studies indicating acceptable driveway performance. The civic association sought clarity on operating hours, expressing concerns about late-night operation. Guthrie's attorney assured commissioners that hours would align with typical lunch and dinner times, extending from around 6 a.m. to 10 or 11 p.m., covering the necessary prep and closing times. The decision faced debate over singling out Guthrie's for specific hours compared to other nearby fast-food establishments. We'll be back in a moment  Break: INGLES 10 STORY 6: Bus Vouchers and Rides to MUST Warming Shelter Now Available Cobb County has unveiled details regarding bus vouchers and pickup locations for individuals in need of transportation to the MUST Ministries homeless shelter during the winter. The announcement follows the Cobb Board of Commissioners' approval of a $108,000 agreement with MUST Ministries to support Cobb residents at the new Hope House shelter on 1297 Bells Ferry Road. The pickup location is Reflections of Trinity at 4037 Austell-Powder Springs Road, with pickups scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Bus vouchers can be obtained from three locations: HOPE Family Resource Center, Family Life Restoration Center, and Bethany United Methodist Church. The program may expand pickup locations and voucher distribution as it progresses. STORY 7: East Cobb Quilters' Guild Provided Special Holiday Gifts for Veterans The East Cobb Quilters' Guild, known for its extensive community service, has contributed to various charities by creating quilts, placemats, Beads of Courage bags, and pillowcases. In a special initiative this year, patriotic-themed placemats were crafted and donated to Cobb County Senior Services for their annual Veteran's Christmas Luncheon. The heartfelt gesture left veterans deeply touched. In 2023, the Guild donated a remarkable total of 2,430 items to local organizations, a nearly 100% increase from the previous year. Recipients included Cobb County DFCS, Ryan's Case for Smiles, Cobb County Meals on Wheels, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, which received 825 Beads of Courage bags for patients dealing with serious illnesses. Welcome to another amazing week in Retail Auto as we give a progress report on the strike as well as some uncomfortable moments for Mary Barra and Jim Farley. We also talk about Lithia's largest acquisition to date, as well as Tesla landing the first EV on the leasing Top 10 list. Show Notes with links:“Progress is slow,” and “I don't really want to say we're closer.” was the sentiment communicated by UAW President Shawn Fain on MSNBC's “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.”The UAW resumed talks with GM on Sunday, and will do so with Stellantis and Ford on Monday. In a Friday press conference, Fain said “it could be in a day, it could be in a week.”Also over the weekend both GM CEO Mary Barra on CNN and Ford CEO Jim Farley on ABC were asked how they justify their compensation in light of the UAW demands for a pay increase. Both redirected the question and pointed out that the offers that are on the table are historically generous. The largest auto group in the US, Lithia, continues its expansion with its largest acquisition to date. But it's not in the US and it's not just about dealerships, it's also about software. Lithia Motors Inc. intends to purchase Pendragon's dealership and fleet business, which includes 160 retail locations in the U.K., primarily under the Stratstone or Evans Halshaw branding. The deal also includes acquiring Pendragon Vehicle Management, a vehicle fleet management platform with 15,000 to 20,000 vehiclesPinewood Technologies, a cloud based DMS, aims to stand as an independent software entity. With around 30,000 global users, the focus is on leveraging its cloud-based, tech-savvy software. Lithia, holding a 16.7% stake, plans a joint venture to introduce a Dealership Management System (DMS) to North America within the next three to five years.Overall, the Pendragon acquisitions are anticipated to add $4.5 billion in annual revenue to Lithia, making it their most significant purchase to date and bringing annual revenue over $38B. Their goal is $50B by 2025The Tesla Model 3 has become the first electric vehicle ever to enter the top 10 leased models in the U.S. according to a new report by ExperianRanking seventh in Q2, the Model 3 accounted for 1.79% of leased new vehicles, with approximately 25% of the 42,000 new Model 3s retailed during that period being leased, marking a 14-point surge from the previous year.In the second quarter, the top 10 leased vehicles in the U.S. were the Ford F-150 (2.52%), Honda CR-V (2.48%), Nissan Rogue (2.26%), Chevy Silverado 1500 (2.18%), Jeep Grand Cherokee (1.97%), Chevy Equinox (1.82%), Tesla Model 3 (1.79%), Honda Civic (1.7%), Ram 1500 (1.66%), and Jeep Wrangler (1.64%).Recent months have seen a spike in EV leasing, partly due to an expanded array of models qualifying for federal tax incentives when leasedHosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email ASOTU Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/automotivestateoftheunion

The rest go to the kids. I mostly listen to new music and the Christian Station because let's face it, your girl needs Jesus. I need all the help I can get.   Recently there is a host on the Christian Station that I don't particularly care for. I feel like she talks a bit too much and the things she says are not usually positive and uplifting things, which is why I like that station in the first place.   One day as I was feeling snarky towards that lady, I thought, “What am I doing? Change the station!” I get to listen to whatever music I want.   This can obviously be metaphorical and can be applied to relationships, marriages, and jobs. Why are you staying somewhere you are miserable? Why?    Reach down and change the channel. Charging your electric vehicle (EV) shouldn't be a guessing game, should it? You're about to glean  insights from Sumit Chauhan of CerebrumX who helps us understand some of EV charging times. He explains why plugging your EV at your convenience might not be the most cost-effective strategy, and how peak load times factor into this equation. Plus, we touch on the $200 registration fee imposed on Texan EV owners to compensate for lost gas tax revenue. We also get a look into the world of CerebrumX's transformative technology designed to optimize EV charging costs. We discuss the potential repercussions of the looming reversal of electrification and EV subsidies, and how their app interacts with the grid to possibly reduce charging costs through tiered electricity plans. Could smart charging be the answer to easing pressure on our power grids? We also explore the benefits of this innovative app for both residential and enterprise customers. Ever wondered why electric company pricing structures seem so convoluted, especially when it comes to EV charging? Let's shed some light on how these models affect you, the consumer, and how CerebrumX is striving to enhance transparency, especially in the credit system for power returned to the grid. We also openly think about the prospect of circumventing the middleman entirely, enabling EV owners to use the power they generate for their own homes. In our Feature segment, we have a look at the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve 4X4 - a mid-size SUV that has grown into a 3-row vehicle.  It maintains the Jeep off-road chops with a new look that adds luxury styling that many people will find appealing. We invite you to join the In Wheel Time Car Talk crew every Saturday!Lupe Tortilla, sponsor Tailpipes & Tacos Lupe Tortilla in Katy, Texas, is host to the quarterly Saturday morning cruise-in!Sponsored by Gulf Coast Auto Shield Paint protection and more!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.
