These two unique examples of thinking outside the box may not represent the Lord's calling for everyone, but David and Greg encourage deacons to look for ways in their lives to follow where the Lord is leading as they think outside the box.Referenced in this episode:Hearts of HopeSweetwater ResearchJames 1:27John 14:18Practicing the King's Economy by Michael J. From the mid-70's until the 2000's, mask maker Greg Harrison produced more custom-fabricated masks for NHL goaltenders than anyone on the planet. A one-man band, Greg hand laid fiberglass, sanded, painted, and crafted wire cages for his one-of-a-kind creations. Truly a renaissance man, Greg has countless stories about the goaltenders and their masks. Some of his clients include Potvin, Belfour, Gratton, Rutherford, Giacomin, Meloche, Hayward, Casey, Hextall, Fuhr, Dave & Ken Dryden, Rhodes, Weekes, Wamsley, Tugnutt, Essensa, Hanlon, Beaupre, Fitzpatrick and many, many more. At one point Greg was making masks for an estimated 80% of NHL goaltenders.

To say Episode 91 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, is packed would be like saying Dominik Hasek was decent at stopping pucks. This thing is LOADED with goalie greatness: From industry standard-setting mask makers and painters Greg Harrison and David Gunnarsson discussing the ties between Halloween, horror movies, goalie masks and Jacques Plante; to the inventor of Sense Arena, a ground-breaking new virtual reality goalie training program already being adopted by NHL teams and their tendys, to an informative, insightful, and at-times emotional interview with new Carolina Hurricanes free agent addition Antoine Bibeau. In our feature interview presented by Sense Arena, Bibeau, who was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, talks about falling for the position cheering Patrick Roy in Colorado and, after getting a call from none other than Roy's former teammate, Joe Sakic, this season to tell him the Avalanche had traded for him, what it was like to get to put on the same uniform. He shares numerous insights on his path to pro, invaluable lessons on the mental and physical game along the way, his own thoughts on Sense Arena, and the emotion of winning his first start with the Avs only to need season-ending hip surgery a short while later — and what the comeback since has been like. All that, plus another trip to The Hockey Shop for a fresh gear segment that looks at the new Bauer UltraSonic chest protector, which brings their innovative approach from the game-changing pads to goalie arms.

This week I had the pleasure of talking to pdp guitarist... wait this is metal... let me try that again! This week I have a brutal interview with the lead guitarist of metal band pdp, Greg Gregzilla Harrison! Greg has been featured in magazines including Guitar World, Premier Guitar, Revolver, and Guitar (Germany). Greg also teaches you how to shred, wether it is video lessons from Guitar World, or one of his classes at the Muscians Institute. Greg has even more credentials. When he was a member of Hed PE, he played the Rockstar Mayhem Tour 4 years in a row along side some of the biggest metal bands in the world: Slayer, Korn, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, and Canabal Corpse. With all of those credentials we had a LOT to talk about; from his band PDP and their upcoming album Arcane Ascent to touring with Hed PE and the sweet gear he plays. I learn about gypsy jazz and his other band, The Hot Club of North Hollywood. And of course with Greg being a teacher he had some great advice for aspiring musicians. Dont miss this one! Where Hollywood Hides: Television | Movies | Music | Show Business | Writing | Producing | Directing | Acting

Gregory Harrison’s commitment to his acting craft runs strong and deep. In this insightful interview, Greg tells a story that takes us from his life as a dinner theatre bar bouncer-actor to acting classes at the Stella Adler Academy, to early roles that took him to the pinnacle of TV, film, and stage stardom. You’ll hear how Greg went from working as an “extra” on The Harrad Experiment—where he and Suzanne first met—and how dedication to learning his craft eventually led to guest starring roles on TV shows like Barnaby Jones, Wonder Woman, and M*A*S*H.   Greg’s lifelong love of surfing was used to great advantage when he played “Chandler” in the iconic North Shore...a role that established him as both an actor and as a true “water man.” But it was his starring role in Universal’s Logan’s Run alongside actress Heather Menzies that truly propelled Greg into the pantheon of leading men. Greg’s enthusiasm for acting is obvious as he recalls his role in Centennial and the experience of co-starring in the landmark series Trapper John, M.D. It’s a wide-ranging conversation as Greg and Bob share “notes” about Greg’s role of “Michael Sharpe” on the last season of Falcon Crest, which leads to Greg’s thoughts about the state of film and television acting today. With hundreds of television, movie, and legitimate theatre performances to his credit (The Gathering, The Women’s Room, Dark Skies, Au Pair, CSI, Rizzoli & Isles, Fair Haven), Greg Harrison’s career is the reflection of a man who is far more than just an actor or a “Hollywood celebrity.” He’s also an award-winning theatrical producer (more than 60 plays) and as the driving force behind his Catalina Productions. A devoted family man—he’s married to Chips star Randi Oakes—Greg Harrison has achieved unparalleled success on every level. In this interview, you’ll learn that it’s all come as the product of intelligence, discipline, creative instincts, and hard work. Greg share’s his insights about the craft, career, and business of acting, revealing a man of many dimensions continuing to carry his talent and celebrity with exceptional grace.

The Birthday Song, sung every day of the year at birthday parties across the land, is sweet, simple, and 120 years old this year. But it's also a highly contested piece of intellectual property, pulling in millions of dollars for a large music conglomerate, Warner/Chappell, which charges films and TV shows who want to include the song, and pull the films from the shelves and file lawsuits if they don't comply. Andrea Silenzi looks at the strange and somewhat tortured history of the song's ownership, and offers a novel form of resistance to Warner's hegemony. This episode was produced by Andrea Silenzi. You can find more information on the Happy Birthday contest at freemusicarchive.org, and listen to free birthday song entries.     Banner image: Greg Harrison
