Send us a textThis week on Hallmark Mysteries and More, we're zooming in on the Signed, Sealed, Delivered franchise with an in-depth review of To the Moon and Back. Is it a heartwarming hit or a confusing miss? Eric and Andrea break it down, sharing their thoughts on the movie's gripping mystery, the emotional dynamics of the Postables, and Oliver's journey into fatherhood. We even dive into the letter mystery at the heart of the plot—does it deliver the usual SS&D magic, or does it leave us scratching our heads?Along the way, we discuss the highs (hello, Gregory Harrison!) and the lows (sorry, Rita, you got sidelined), and what the film does well in portraying complex family dynamics. Plus, we chat about some unexpected moments and how this installment stacks up to others in the franchise. But it's not all serious—there's also plenty of playful banter as we dissect Hallmark's mystery month antics, the lack of marketing, and what Hallmark could do to get their mystery game back on track. From a fun dive into Moonstone to a surprise cameo by Zach Santiago, it's a fun-packed episode that every Hallmark fan won't want to miss!Grab a cup of tea, sit back, and enjoy this Signed, Sealed, Delivered breakdown—only on Hallmark Mysteries and More!Follow us on social media: Instagram and TikTok: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Les, Kurt, and Jason fall into one of 3 distinct categories of people for this week's movie: podcasters, people in an open MRI, and people in assisted living, huzzah! But the guys would rather talk about other things like Tokyo Toni's 5 (or is it 6) marriages, and her ex John E. Depth. Mr. Depth may be poking at Les' opening at Circus of Books (but not in the same way Maya Angelou poked Jason on Facebook). The guys do eventually talk Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, and Delivered: To the Moon and Back which is apparently part of a series of movies that they have somehow never heard of (despite the series' existence since 2014)… and they were not impressed despite the presence of Gregory Harrison and Eric Mabius. But when you have a bunch of seemingly coked-up postal workers who are DRUNK with power and Yoo-hoo (but not mimosas), all you get is some genuine government corruption and waste and some misguided advice from Kurt about where to defecate. In the 1970s, Gregory Harrison went east to Hollywood. The son of Catalina Island's glass bottom boat captain, Gregory began dreaming of a career in acting when a Doris Day movie was filmed on and named after his father's Glass Bottom Boat. Now 120 IMDB credits into his career, Gregory joins us for a debriefing. After serving as an Army medic during the Viet Nam War, Gregory's guest star appearance on MASH in 1976 foreshadowed his earning the role of Gonzo Gates on Trapper John MD in 1979, which was around the time Trapper began to look more like Pernell Roberts than Wayne Rogers. Gregory starred in the TV version of Logan's Run, a role that required a lot of running, which trained him for an appearance on Battle of the Network Stars where he met his future wife, Randi Oaks (competing for a rival network.) He's most proud of his role in Centennial, the epic mini-series based on the James Michener novel. A TV event so beloved that fan gatherings are held today where enthusiasts can tour the original sets!Gregory just completed a three and a half year run on General Hospital, his first soap, on which he got to guest star with his daughter, Lily Anne Harrison. Hallmark fans know him as Joe O'Toole on the Signed, Sealed and Delivered movie series. And a fun fact is that the 8x10 glossy that Gregory is most often asked to sign is a shirtless pose from the TV movie, For Ladies Only, in which a struggling actor makes ends meet by stripping. Who, amongst us with a rock hard body doesn't relate? Also joining us is journalist and former White House correspondent Brian Karen. Brian is directing a documentary titled Trump: The First 100 Days. About "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Tale of Three Letters" Linda Lisa Hayter returns to direct A Tale of Three Letters. She will also direct “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back” out in 2025. Martha Williamson and Brandi Harkonen wrote the script. Zak Santiago and Gregory Harrison return as Ramon and Joe. Rhiannon Fish returns as Charley. Ian Collins plays Marlon Carter. This appears to be Ian's 8th Hallmark movie and his 40th acting credit. Outside of Hallmark he is appearing on the sci-fi series “Snowpiercer.” Edward Ruttle plays Barry. Our favorite of Edward's 35 acting credits is his role as Beer Luge Guy in “Hot Tub Time Machine” - his very first credited role. He's previously been on Hallmark in “A Season for Family,” “Just one Kiss,” “When Calls the Heart” and several episodes of “The Good Witch.” Jennifer Juniper Angeli plays Mrs Philpott. This time, we covered the final installment of Science Seal Delivered Summer for 2024, diving into "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: A Tale of Three Letters". Here's a synopsis of the ideas and insights we discussed on our podcast. If you haven't tuned in yet, we'd love for you to join us and become a part of the conversation! What We Liked Norman's Character Development: We absolutely adored seeing Norman step up as the marital mentor to Oliver. His growth throughout the series has been remarkable, and his easy and sincere advice made those scenes shine. Normalization of Therapy: Both of us appreciated how the movie normalized therapy for healthy relationships. The depiction of Shane, Oliver, Rita, and Norman going through therapy sessions made it clear that seeking help is a healthy and necessary step for any relationship. Sweet, Small Moments: Several little moments made us smile—from Norman's adorable comment about the sonogram picture to Shane and Oliver's flirty interaction post-honeymoon. These touches gave the film warmth and humor. What We Wished For Character Consistency: There were a few moments that felt out of character, especially Oliver's unempathetic interaction with Charlie. It seemed like an entirely different writer had come in an...

About "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Traveled" The Vows We Have Made originally premiered on October 17, 2021. Linda-Lisa Hayter directed “The Vows We Have Made.” Hayter currently has 14 directing credits and is known for movies like “Cranberry Christmas,” “Unexpected Grace,” the most recent SSD: “A Tale of Three Letters.” She will also direct the upcoming SSD: “To the Moon and Back.” Hayter was also a 2022 Leo Award Nominee for Best Direction in a Television Movie. The script was written by Martha Williamson. All of our regulars return, including Gregory Harrison as Joe, Zak Santiago as Ramon, Jill Morrison as Hazel. Rhiannon Fish makes her SSD debut as Charley. Fish has 27 acting credits and most recently returned as Charley in “The Tale of Three Letters.” Sherry Miller plays Shane's mom Sharon. Miller has a whopping 98 acting credits and is known for Hallmark projects like “Pride, Prejudice and Mistletoe” and “Family History Mysteries: Buried Past.” She will appear in “Hot Frosty” coming to Netflix this winter starring Lacey Chabert. Jude Wilson plays teenage Owen. He has 23 acting credits and has appeared in Hallmark movies like “In Merry Measure” and “Campfire Christmas.” Carol Burnett, Valerie Harper, and Marion Ross all appear via archived footage. Watch the Trailer for "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made" Our Thoughts on "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made" What We Loved about SSD: "The Vows We Have Made" We were incredibly impressed with this movie. Let's talk about the things that warmed our hearts: Beautifully Written Dialogue: The movie was wonderfully written, with many profound lines like "trust the timing" and poignant themes about holding on and letting go. Humor Amidst Tears: Even though the last 20 minutes were packed with tear-jerking moments, there were great light-hearted instances that provided the perfect balance. Character Development: Seeing characters like Sharon, Shane's mom, evolve was a joy. Her relationship with Oliver was emotionally compelling, especially when she offers to be the mother he deserved. Creative Problem-Solving: Martha Williamson's writing shines as Rita and Norman decide to help Charlie, a young mother. Instead of adopting her baby, they invite her to live with them. It's an unconventional but touching solution. Flashbacks: The flashbacks to previous episodes were not just nostalgic but added depth to the overall narrative, making this feel like a fitting wrap-up to the series. What We Wished For While we loved most of the movie, there were a couple of things we wished were different: Rita, Norman, and Charlie Triangle: The timeline here was a bit confusing. How long have Rita and Norman been trying to have a baby? And the idea of them taking in Charlie and her baby seemed rushed and unconventional. Shane's Sister: Shane's sister, who had a big part in a previous movie, didn't make an appearance, not even a mention.

About "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Traveled" Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Traveled was directed by Kevin Fair. Martha Williamson wrote the script. Eric Mabius (Oliver O'Toole) Kristin Booth (Shane) Crystal Lowe (Rita) Geoff Gustafson (Norman) Many of our favorite supporting characters return in this movie: Gregory Harrison as Joe O'Toole, Barry Bostwick as Rita's dad Bill, Zak Santiago as Ramon, Carol Burnett as Ardis, Jill Morrison as Hazel, Keb Mo as Gabe. Janet Kidder plays Annaliese. Janet has 72 acting credits which includes "Time for Her to Come Home for Christmas" and "Christmas for Keeps" for Hallmark. She was also in "The Man in the High Castle" and "Star Trek Discovery." Jessica Sipos plays daughter Jessica. Jessica has 24 acting credits. This was her first appearance on Hallmark having previously appeared on UnREAL. For Hallmark she has also been in "Chesapeake Shores," "A Season for Family," and "Betty's Bad Luck in Love." Barbara Wallace plays wedding dress designed Evelyn. Barbara has 48 acting credits as well as 70 stage credits. For Hallmark she has also recently appeared in "To All a Good Night," "The Cases of Mystery Lane," and "The Christmas Contest." Watch the Trailer for "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar" Our Thoughts on "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar" What We Loved There was so much to love about 'To the Altar' that it's hard to know where to start! Firstly, we adored the chemistry between the main characters—particularly the friendship between Norman and Oliver. Those tuxedo scenes? Pure gold. Oliver's tender moment of buttoning up Shane's wedding dress was a beautiful touch. Nice directing from Kevin Fair on that one! Norman's horror-stricken face at his bachelor party when he saw the cake was hilarious. And let's not forget Oliver's freakout about shrimp sauce at the same event! On the emotional front, the portrayal of Annalise and Jessica's reunion struck a chord. Writer Martha Williamson tackled the complicated issues of mental health and homelessness with such grace and nuance; it left us in tears. The connection between Rita's loss and Jessica's reconnection with Annalise was a poignant example of beautifully woven storytelling. And who could overlook Keb Mo's soulful singing? Hearing him perform just elevated our viewing experience. Finally, the proposal scene between Shane and Oliver was everything we hoped for. Seeing Oliver wear the tie was a moment that had us gasping and reaching for tissues. What We Wished For Even in Hallmark heaven, there are a few things that could have used a bit of tweaking. First on our wish list is more closure for Colleen Camp's character, Sonny. Her sudden spelunking accident felt abrupt and left us wanting more context. While we learned from various sources that there were off-screen issues that might have led to this plot choice, the transition was jarring. Speaking of specifics, cave diving or "spelunking" as the cause of death seemed unusually dark for Hallmark standards.

She has 155 acting credits with six upcoming projects. With Laura Collins (Genie Francis) accepting him into her life and Gregory Harrison playing Gregory, the show continues to surprise viewers. The question remains, however, as to whether or not Cyrus's redemption is genuine on the ABC soap opera. Furthermore, there is much curiosity about what love interest the GH writers might introduce for Cyrus, with characters like Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), and even Heather Webber (Alley Mills) being potential contenders. As the show continues to unravel, fans eagerly anticipate the unfolding of Cyrus's character and his potential romantic relationships. Chandler in North Shore is one of Gregory Harrison's favorite roles. After being passed up for the role of Jack in Big Wednesday, he thought he'd never be cast in a surf movie. Ten years later, after Logan's Run, Trapper John, M.D., and For Ladies Only, Gregory put his main hobby to work on the screen. Another hard working actor has thankfully agreed to share his stories with us after 50 years in the business with 120 acting credits and 14 producer credits; he's a natural. Enjoy. Film Flashback Faceoff Episode 1- North Shore First up is a movie we remember from 1987 called “North Shore” starring Matt Adler, Gregory Harrison and Nia Peeples. Full disclosure, none of us are surfers, but this little surfing movie really spoke to us. Will the young “barneys” find it dated or will they join the “soul surfers” and embrace this charming 80's flick? www.damshow.co destroymail@gmail.com
TV In The Basement : Television's greatest shows and the occasional movie
"Trapper John, M.D." is a medical drama television series that aired from 1979 to 1986, serving as a spin-off from the film "MASH". The show is set roughly two decades after the Korean War and follows the character Dr. John McIntyre, known as "Trapper John," portrayed by Pernell Roberts. Trapper John is now the chief of surgery at San Francisco's Memorial Hospital. The series blends drama and humor to explore the personal and professional lives of its medical staff, particularly focusing on the contrasts and camaraderie between the conservative, experienced Trapper John and his younger, more progressive colleague, Dr. George Alonzo "Gonzo" Gates, played by Gregory Harrison."Trapper John, M.D." was well-received for its nuanced storytelling, addressing various medical and ethical issues, and for its portrayal of the evolving field of medicine.
"North Shore," released in 1987, is a film that encapsulates the essence of surfing culture and the timeless quest for belonging and self-discovery. Set against the stunning backdrop of Hawaii's legendary North Shore, the movie follows the journey of Rick Kane (played by Matt Adler), a young surfer from Arizona, as he navigates the challenging waves and complex social dynamics of the surfing world. The film opens in the arid deserts of Arizona, a stark contrast to the lush landscapes of Hawaii. Rick Kane, fresh from winning a local surfing contest in a wave pool, decides to use his prize money to travel to the North Shore of Oahu, the mecca of surfing. His naivety and landlocked upbringing are immediately apparent upon his arrival, making him an easy target for local surfers who view him as an outsider. One of the film's strengths lies in its portrayal of the clash between local and outsider cultures, a theme still relevant today. The tension between respecting local customs and the universal passion for surfing is a central conflict in the movie. This is exemplified in the interactions between Rick and the local surfers, particularly with the character of Vince (played by Gerry Lopez), a respected surfer who embodies the spirit and skill of the local surfing community. The cinematography of "North Shore" is another highlight, capturing the raw beauty and power of the ocean. The surfing scenes are shot with an authenticity that appeals to both surfers and non-surfers alike. These scenes are not just visually stunning; they are pivotal in advancing the narrative, showcasing Rick's progression from a naive wave pool surfer to a skilled ocean surfer. However, the film is not without its flaws. The script sometimes lapses into clichés, and the acting, particularly in the more dramatic scenes, can feel forced. The character development, especially for the supporting cast, is often surface-level, missing opportunities to delve deeper into their backstories and motivations.Despite these shortcomings, "North Shore" benefits immensely from its supporting characters. Turtle, played by John Philbin, is a standout, providing comic relief and a sense of grounded wisdom. His friendship with Rick serves as a bridge between the outsider and the local community, illustrating the universal language of surfing. Furthermore, the romantic subplot between Rick and Kiani (played by Nia Peeples) adds an extra layer to the story, although it follows a predictable trajectory. The film also touches on the commercialization of surfing, a prescient issue in the surfing community. The character of Chandler, portrayed by Gregory Harrison, embodies the soul surfer who rejects the commercial aspects of the sport. His mentorship of Rick is central to the film's message about the purity of surfing and the importance of respecting the ocean and local traditions."North Shore" culminates in the final surfing competition, a well-executed sequence that blends real surfing footage with the film's narrative. This climax not only serves as a test of Rick's skills but also as a resolution to the cultural tensions depicted throughout the movie. The competition scenes are gripping and well-choreographed, keeping viewers engaged until the very end.In terms of cultural impact, "North Shore" has become a cult classic among surfers. It captures a particular moment in surfing history, just before the sport exploded into mainstream consciousness. The film's depiction of surfing culture, with its emphasis on respect, skill, and connection to nature, resonates with many in the surfing community. In conclusion, "North Shore" is a film that, despite its flaws, remains an important cultural artifact within the surfing world. Its depiction of the surfing lifestyle, combined with the beautiful cinematography and engaging surfing sequences, makes it a must-watch for enthusiasts of the sport. While it may not delve deeply into character development or avoid certain clichés, its core message about respect, passion, and self-discovery transcends these limitations, making it a memorable and influential film in the genre of sports cinema. Please follow the Podcast and join our community at https://linktr.ee/borntowatchpodcast If you are looking to start a podcast and want a host or get guests to pipe in remotely, look no further than Riverside.fmClick the link below https://riverside.fm/?utm_campaign=campaign_1&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=rewardful&via=matthew

Paging Steven Spielberg! Actor Gregory Harrison's real-life story as the first moral conscientious objector needs to be told. And boy did he tell us here. I'm left in awe, mortified, inspired, and grateful, to name but a few adjectives I'm feeling. A gifted storyteller as well as thespian, singer, songwriter, and producer, I've known Gregory for years, we've sat down a number of times, but he's always more provocative, informative, fascinating, and passionate than the time before. Trapper John MD, Falcon Crest, Razorback, Logan's Run, Sisters, One Tree Hill, Gregory starred with moi in The M Word, well he was starring, I was mostly standing. Starting out as the leading man of a feature film, Gregory backed his way into starring on television, on Broadway, and back again. Of late, Gregory starred in The Lion in Winter at The Laguna Playhouse, great story how that came to be, is two years in on General Hospital, his first soap, I have no idea how he does it, yet Gregory managed to demystify it, he's recurring on Chesapeake Shores, just shot a couple more episodes of 9-1-1, and the independent feature, Jimmy & Carolyn, which Gregory feels is his best work yet. That's saying a lot. He starred in The Family Man and is a family man himself, married 41 years, to the same woman, the proud and loving father of 4, and grandpa to three. A Vietnam vet, an outspoken activist, and a spiritual soul, whose personal standards for his own humanity are seemingly beyond mortal, Gregory's beyond lovely and crazy easy on the eyes. This, like him, is all wins. Can't wait for more. On this episode, I talk a lot. Like, way more than other episodes. I don't know why. I guess that's my new format. I just click the record button and see what happens. It's anything goes when my mind get's rolling and the words start pouring out of my mouth. That's what the bucket's for. The bucket is what I call the fancy recording apparatus I've set up to capture the flow. It's quite futuristic. Speaking of which, has anyone ever seen that Logan's Run television show with Gregory Harrison? I guess I kinda remembered it existed but never saw it. In any event, I just watched an episode. It's so weird to think the movie was so popular that it spawned a TV show. That was before Star Wars, right? I'm going to check. It was. It came out a year before Star Wars.Support the show

Stuart Pankin on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson There are no accidents and no mistakes. A cancellation led to a speedy opportunity, that I'm so grateful to have had. Five-time nominated and CableAce Award winner for HBO's, Not Necessarily The News, Stuart Pankin, originally scheduled for August, jumped in tonight, and what an absolute joy! We talked about the early days, how this constantly working actor never had to have a day job, with one short exception, funny story here. From Columbia University to theatre from off off off, to repertory, Shakespeare in the Park, how fellow sword carrier, Kevin Kline changed his stars, to Lincoln Center… landing in the land of LA with a bit of TV work, some unemployment, and then a handful of years later, the game-changer, anchor and player on the award-winning, Not Necessarily The News. Over 300 television appearances and loads of movies followed. We talked his co-starring role in Fatal Attraction opposite Michael Douglas, Hollywood Knights with Robert Wuh, Striptease with Demi Moore, Arachnophobia, and Honey We Shrunk Ourselves with Rick Moranis, Curb with Larry David, Trapper John with Gregory Harrison, and his current VOD, Deep In The Forest, and the soon to drop, Our Almost Completely True Story, great stories, all! I love when artists I adore are just as wonderful humans, Stuart Pankin is all that, and a truckload of Cheetos. What fun!
