Fresh off a relentless touring schedule across the United States and Europe, HED PE are ready to conquer Australia once again and, for the first time since 2018, New Zealand.HED P.E. has been a cornerstone in the rock and metal scene, captivating audiences with their unique blend of rock, punk, rasta, gangsta rap, and soul. Many bands three decades into their career would be happy to tread the boards and play for the nostalgia, but not HED P.E. Their most recent and incredibly fifteenth album, Detox, was released in December 2023 and shows a band with no time to sit on their hands and muse about the past. Detox is a crushing return to the G-Punk sound that the band's fans know and adore.HEAVY sat down with frontman Jahred Gomes on the eve of the tour.Jahred described HED P.E's live performances as a journey that incorporates various musical styles, including hardcore, punk, reggae, and hip-hop, and reflected on the positive reception of the album and their recent UK tour. He emphasized the importance of creating new music and touring, despite industry challenges, and acknowledged the band's ability to connect with diverse audiences. He confirmed that a secret record is in the works, which will be announced soon, plus reminisced about the early days of HED P.E. and how they have changed as a band over the course of their career and plenty more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Dan Sindel is truly a “unique” and “one of a kind” artist like no other out there in music land. Dan's songwriting features a multi-layered approach to recording guitars and vocals that integrates myriads of styles and genres into a hard rocking experience streamlined for mass appeal. Unpopular Music for Popular People Vol.1 is Dan's debut (5 song) EP and features the radio friendly tracks; STEPPING STONE, RULE THE WORLD and ALL DUE REPSECT as well as two “6 minute deep cut” tracks; EDGE OF ETERNITY and SAY GOODBYE which would satisfy anyone with a love for classic rock /progressive hard rock/heavy metal with their technical rhythmic changes, orchestrated guitars and solid vocal production. The Los Angeles based singer/songwriter/guitarist takes his musical upbringing of 60's and 70's pop songs and classic rock, 80's-90's metal and all things current and mixes up slightly atypical artists (think: Alice in Chains meet The Byrds or perhaps the aggression of Metallica infused with Blue Oyster Cult, The BEATLES or ELO) to create those unique melodies and harmonies. Dan says, “To me, the best parts of a song are the hooks and melodies, whether vocal or instrumental they have to catch the listener's ear and be extraordinarily memorable.”As a survivor of the legendary 80's LA Heavy Metal scene, Dan has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the rock and metal music world (ACCEPT, SAXON, KING DIAMOND, RACER X, WENDY O. WILLIAMS, ARMORED SAINT, METAL CHURCH, FLOTSAM & JETSAM, GRIM REAPER, HED-PE, MUSHROOMHEAD and HELMET being but a few) but he'd rather not be looked at as “just a metal guy” as he refuses to be typecast and limited by musical genre.“Dan states: “It is the responsibility of a true artist to find his own voice and represent the thoughts and feelings that one has and to share it in a way that hopefully does not simply mirror someone else's work, to capture the spirit and intent of the artists vision is the essence of art itself.”Unpopular Music for Popular People Vol.1 is absolute proof that bringing influences from several different musical genres can co-exist in one finely tuned package and is available on all popular streaming platforms as well as his accompaniment videos on Youtube.APPLE MUSIC: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/dan-sindel/261257155SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/artist/12JOM4gAm4nuaXD8GXLW3xAMAZON: https://www.amazon.com/music/player/artists/B0019DMEM4/dan-sindelYOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@halipinoWWW: http://dansindel.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Hed PE frontman Jahred Gomes reflects on his band's 30-year career, celebrates the release of their latest album, 'Detox,' and even dives into the history of nu-metal.
The name (hed) PE is as synonymous with the nu-metal genre as Korn is. While they may not have gotten to the same popularity heights (hed) PE and their style of music embodies everything we love about the genre. Jahred Gomes formed the band in Huntington Beach, CA in 1994 and found huge success a few years later with songs like "Bartender" and "Blackout." In late 2023 they put out a new album called Detox and it might be their best complete body of work in decades. It's probably been that long since I've talked to Jahred and I'm happy to catch up with the outgoing frontman of Higher Education Planet Earth.
We had to do a Nu Metal episode. One hosts lived and breathed it during his teens, a real Jinco Wallet Chain nerd. Another host dabbled in the scene, sometimes to just check on his friend and make sure he wasn't too far gone. A third host was drafted into the No Limit army at the time and was too busy fighting on battles on the Sun Coasts and missed the entire movement back home. In addition to discussing Toxcity track by track you'll find discussions on Miami Vice, Fargo, Iron Maiden, The Curse, Hed PE, Slipknot, Korn, RIck Rubin, and pizza. Spoilers: this episode has one host give his lowest ranking ever. Recs, Current Events, general music chat, and SOAD history in the first hour. Track by Track starts at the 1 hour mark. Another Monday, another new episode of Slashers Podcast! Today for our Patreon Pick, Doug, Jason and Ade talk about Cam's choice, Strangeland from 1998. Written and starring Twisted Sister's Dee Snyder as the titular, tatted and pierced “Captain Howdy.” The film also stars a baby Linda Cardellini and Amy Smart, and follows a modern primitive psychopath who stalks young teens in chatrooms, kidnaps them, and tortures them with body modification. Robert Englund also makes an appearance, so it's worth a watch if you still haven't seen it. Listen to why we think this is a time capsule for the beginnings of the “strange land” that is known as the internet. Also, walk with Jason and Ade down memory lane about the once wild, wild west of AOL and the explanation of ASL. Find out why Ade and Doug enjoy this one and why Jason can take it or leave it. Bonus! The Strangeland soundtrack is available to listen to on Spotify, and features music from Sevendust, Megadeth, Anthrax, Snot, (Hed)PE, Nashville Pussy and more. Wes Geer's substance use as a teen ended up getting him kicked out of both high school and his home; by 18, he was living in his car and working at Domino's. Eventually, he was able to get a better job and continue playing in local bands, which led to the creation of Hed PE at the age of 21. For eight years, the band toured the world, but Geer's feelings of loneliness made him turn back to alcohol. He began to drink excessively and progressed to harder substances like meth: at the time, he accredited the high from the substance as the reason for his songwriting success. The severity of Geer's addiction intensified, and after nine years with the band, he quit. After leaving the band, he reached the point where he felt his life was imploding and he decided to seek help.Though he relapsed after three years of sobriety, Geer immediately went back to working his steps, and after 10 days of prayer and meditation, he received an offer to be the touring guitarist of the band Korn.It was after touring with the band that he formulated a way to give back and to do so through music, and in 2012, he founded Rock to Recovery – a music therapy program that helps people heal and transform their lives through the powerful experience of writing, playing and performing as a group. Now, more than 15 years sober and with Rock to Recovery in its 10th year, he is the host of the top-rated Rock to Recovery Radio show, and a highly sought-after speaker on the topics of personal growth, spirituality, addiction, mental health, harm reduction and music therapy.

Wes Geer is a professional guitar player, songwriter, recording artist, and producer, who signed his first record deal to Jive Records with the band he founded, (Hed) P.E.. Wes toured the world for nearly a decade, and the band sold over 1 million records worldwide. Their music was on high rotation on MTV, radio stations, as well as having numerous placements in popular feature films, TV, and video games. What many didn't know at the time was while he was leading his band to their first-ever record deal, Wes was a full-blown drug addict, using alcohol, methamphetamines and other drugs, daily, for years. No matter the efforts to quell his addiction and control it, things continually got worse. After nearly a decade of touring the world, with the biggest names in rock, Wes' life was imploding, and he finally left in 2003, for a ‘lifestyle change' that ultimately ended him up in rehab in 2004.In 2010, Wes decided he wanted to get back into music and started praying and meditating on what that would look like. Not long after, and only because he was sober, Geer was offered the gig as a guitarist with the rock band Korn. He traveled the world, performing in more than 40 countries with the multi-platinum stars, as well as appeared on numerous live televised and studio recording sessions. Geer was then moved to give back, wanting to create something that could help people who struggled the same way he had. He then founded Rock to Recovery (R2R), a non-profit organization created in late 2012 with the purpose of providing those in various types of treatment and recovery programs the cathartic, uplifting, healing experience of connectivity through music. Our guest this episode is the incredible Anthony "Tiny Bubz" Biuso. This was such a fun conversation and Tiny is not a shy fella. He's been gigging since he was a young kid, first in orchestral organizations and then at 16 in a rock band with folks much older than he was. He later moved to LA and has gone on to play with a number of notable bands. Thanks for listening! Apparently Adam has a really punchable face. The lyrics of Californication are just the Wikipedia article on California. It's hard to say whether Jepson's Malört tastes like it was made in a bath tub, or made to clean a bathtub. Ryan no-call-no-showed Adam and Gabe's nü metal band. Gary from Playground King: man or myth? Better ingredients, better children. How long are you gonna listen to Hed PE? Until the day I die and get buried in a Juggalo casket.
