And this is the uptimepodcast where we talk about wind energy engineering, lightning protection and waysto keep your wind turbines running. All right, welcome backto the Uptime Podcast. I'm your co-host, DanBlewett on today's show. First, we'll talk a little bitabout port infrastructure. Over in Europe. It looks like about seven point nine billion dollars is the estimateof some upgrades that might be needed just to handle some of the increased volume of,you know, shipping from offshore wind. We'll talk about spiral welded towertechnology, which could be a major player as far as, you know, construction on sitewithout having to ship these really long towers. We'll talk about the emotion borlooX wave energy prototype, which is now off the Orkney Islandsin testing phase. And the U.S. is actually investing in thatto see if we can get some of this wave power upand running on the West Coast. And lastly, we will talk about Australiabreaking an output, a record with five thousand eighthundred ninety nine megawatts. And some of the while, the plans for this very big energy hub in the southwest side of Australiato potentially create green hydrogen and other fuels for use in heavy industries, power stations, shipping and more. So, Alan, let's start with infrastructure. Obviously, this isthis is was going to be a problem. We've talked about thisjust the need for bigger ships, for installationvehicles, for bigger ports as these things growand there's more demand for it, like this is going to stress everything. So, I mean, I assume youyou just see this as a natural progression for all these countriesjust to to make this work, right? Oh, sure. Can can you. Well, imagine thatif you have an existing port that close in the 60s or 70s,which is probably at least in the United States, waswhat a lot of ports are going to be. All the infrastructureyou have to put in to make them viable, to handle offshore wind,it can be roads, right. Heavy duty roads, a carryheavy things for trucking, all the power requirements, because you maybe putting factories near the ports. So all the on the powerdemand you're going to put there, all the other bits and bobs of buildings. You know, it's just going to be massive amounts of infrastructure, sewer, water lines, the whole thing. I always guess that when they come upwith numbers for infrastructure projects, it's roughly 50 percent ofwhat is actually needed to finish the job. So they probably need twice that thatamount to do it, because it's always so

Recovering and Rediscovering Yourself through Mindful Movement with Darcy Stubbings Nowadays, we have easier access to many vices or the so-called “metaphorical band-aids.” Alcohol, drugs, entertainment, and social media prevent us from feeling our emotions and practicing mindful movement . They give us temporary relief from our needs and pain. Whenever we feel lost, seeking these things is often one of our first solutions. However, allowing ourselves to drown in vices can have a detrimental effect on our lives, health, and relationships. In today’s episode, Darcy Stubbings joins us to discuss his triumph over addiction and finding self-love after years of struggle. He shares his journey to mental wellness and practicing mindful movement. Darcy explains why our society needs to ask more of the “whys” instead of the “whats” of addiction. He delves deeper into self-sabotaging behaviors and narrates why, for him, this year is all about rediscovering himself. If you’re afraid of confronting your problems and are using different ways to numb your emotions, this episode is for you.  Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Gain valuable insights from Darcy’s long journey toward healing after his weed and alcohol addiction. Learn more about self-sabotaging behaviors and why people fall from them. Find out how mindful movement, yoga, and meditation helped Darcy connect with himself and others. Episode Highlights Darcy’s Mental Health Challenges Over the Years Darcy struggled with anxiety, depression, and addiction to marijuana and alcohol. For him, sobriety means a deep loving connection with ourselves and the world. Yoga and meditation taught him the importance of connecting with his innate sacredness. His mental health struggles are the biggest challenges of his life. Darcy numbed and pushed down his feelings for a long time through vices. The surge of “metaphorical band-aids” is a hurdle in our society. They give temporary relief but never solve anything. Forgiving, communicating, and loving ourselves and those around us are essential in healing. Addictions as Band-Aids Society often asks questions about the “whats” of addiction instead of the “whys.” To experience life in its fullness, you have to open yourself to its fullness. Darcy described addiction as a beautiful warm hug and a cry for help. It fills a void that people are not willing to meditate in. Challenging childhoods can lead to heavy addictions. Darcy describes that privileged people also feel the need to numb themselves. For a long time, Darcy defined himself through his athletic abilities. He called this “band-aid” when he was young. However, injuries took them away from him. He was suddenly left to unearth deep-seated insecurities in his life. Addiction is challenging. It makes people think that they have solved the problem, which is never the case. On Self-Sabotaging Behaviors Look at the concept of mindful witness, which can help you avoid falling into destructive behavior. He feels grateful for those who showered him with help and unconditional love when he was struggling. Meditation creates an impartial, forgiving, and compassionate perspective on our behaviors. Darcy lists critical questions that society has to ask about addiction, trauma, and pain. Discover remarkable psychological techniques and meditations to help you avoid falling into self-sabotaging behaviors. Listen to the full episode to learn more! Mindful Movement Practicing mindful movement allows Darcy to connect with his body and enable him to make wise decisions. Don’t focus on how you look. It’s more important to know how you feel when you move. Feeling our bodies is a vital step to healing. Learning Koshas through yoga helped Darcy realize we are all connected, which is contrary to Western teachings. Everything within and around us is one. Overcoming Trauma and Darcy’s Focus for This Year Darcy used to speak to himself negatively. This brought him pain for a long time. Tune in and hear his recommendations on books about trauma and overcoming it. We can impose our insecurities on the next generation. To avoid this, we should compassionately embark on our conscious journey. Trauma is more than an event. It is also the effect on our nervous system and behavioral patterns. It’s vital to give unconditional love and compassion to anyone who is struggling. We should avoid judging and casting them to the edge of society. This year, Darcy will focus on rediscovering himself. He aims to explore and compassionately inquire into why he felt the need to numb. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode [13:31] “The challenge with addiction is that it initially feels like you have solved the problem. And as I'm sure you know, that's not the case.” [22:55] “The difference between running away from something that was numbing and creating these shackles in your life compared to being super stoked about stepping into a new life without those things. I feel it's that ability to develop that compassionate inquiry within.” [30:40] “And I really enjoyed learning about the Koshas through yoga because it just made sense to me that we aren't separated like we're taught in our Western biomedical model. Everything within me and everything around me is one.” [33:20] “We impose our own insecurities and our own deficiencies on the next generation unless we compassionately and lovingly embark on our own conscious journey.” [35:19] “It must start with the simplicity of unconditional love for anyone who is going through a tough time. Not judging, not like casting them to the edge of society, or putting them in jails--- which is quite often the end result of someone who's going through heavy addiction. It's extending a loving hand and just saying as a society: how can we include all people in this prosperity, not just the ones that have the easiest path?” About Darcy Darcy Stubbings is a physiotherapist and a meditation coach. After a long battle with weed and alcohol addiction, Darcy is now committed to sobriety and lending his voice, which he gained from mindful movement and meditation, to help people overcome their vices. “I think one of the things about the creative professions in general is built into them inherently is problem solving. If you want to become, say a biologist, really what you're doing as a biologist is you're discovering things that already exist. As a creative you're inventing things that don't exist.” Creative director and entrepreneur Jonathan Deiss has had a very unique career. After being accepted to Ivy League schools to study architecture, eventually graduating with a Master’s Degree from UCLA, Jonathan headed down the path to deign buildings. However, it was what become known as Web 1.0/2.0 that attracted him more, to work in burgeoning world of websites and digital design. Jonathan realized, “Education isn't just about what you're learning. It's also about learning to learn.” Over the years Jonathan rose up the ranks of advertising agencies like Tribal DDB, Dailey & Associates, Trailer Park, TBWA Chiat Day, The Ant Farm, mOcean, Real Pie, Mojo, Publicis, Leo Burnett and Sapient. He has overseen accounts for Activision, Clearwire, Wells Fargo, Epson, ESPN, Warner Brothers, Disney, Kia, Mutual of Omaha, Disney, Paramount, Fox, and Sony to name a few. He’s done a lot of TV, film and video game marketing as well as traditional marketing. He then went “client side” and helmed creative for Beachbody globally and was responsible for all creative department business including, not only all design direction, but also department budgeting and administration, talent acquisition and retention, and product development. When talking about all of the projects he has worked on and projects he has overseen, Jonathan points out, “You have to learn the discipline of learning in order to succeed in life. One of the ways that I've succeeded is by having a hunger for figuring things out. And the only way you get hungry about figuring things out is if you train yourself over the course of your life from childhood, to have an interest in discovery to have curiosity, to be interested in new things, new ideas, new information.” That curiosity led to Jonathan creating two new ventures, two projects that could not be more different from each other. TheThrillStudio.com is the home 3D printed orcs, dragons and wizards. Micowilderness.com is the home to spiders that are as large as your hand. When we talked it was hard not to chuckle at the idea of spiders but Jonathan said something very wise, “Whether or not you're going to be a great professional in whatever industry you choose is going to be more based on your work ethic, your, your intelligence, your ability to problem solve and your attitude.” And he is right.
