Op 14 maart werden wij hartelijk ontvangen bij het woonzorgcentrum Vogelzang in Herentals. Wij werden deskundig rondgeleid door adjunct-directeur Stien. Zij vertelde ons over de werking en de lopende projecten van het woonzorgcentrum. Daarnaast gingen wij ook in gesprek met administratief medewerker Laura, schoonmaakster Ann, ergotherapeut Marie en logistiek medewerker Geert. Zij vertelden ons over hun taken en over hun liefde voor de job. Wij mochten ook kennis maken met bewoners Nicole en Lutgarde. Een mooie dag!

Door een afgelaste wereldbeker veldrijden en verstoorde ontknoping van de Track Champions League is er voor Jeroen Vanbelleghem, Jan Hermsen, Bobbie Traksel en Sander Valentijn minder om op terug te kijken. Daarom kijken we vooral vooruit. De mannen bespreken in het nieuws de implicaties van de val van Evenepoel voor volgend seizoen, de toekomst van Pidcock en de cross-campagne van Van Aert. Ook worden de aankomende crossen in Namen en Herentals doorgenomen en vertelt Jeroen waarom je beide races niet wilt missen. Wielrennen zou geen wielrennen zijn als er in komkommertijd niet een flinke bom barst. Zo ook deze week. Hoofdrolspeler en figuranten zijn renner Cian Uijtdebroeks en ploegen Jumbo-Visma en BORA-hansgrohe. In welke volgorde is niet helemaal duidelijk. Dat en meer in een nieuwe WielerFlits Podcast!Sinds afgelopen zaterdag beheerst de ‘transfer' van Cian Uijtdebroeks het wielernieuws. Jumbo-Visma kondigde hem aan, nog binnen anderhalf uur gevolgd door een statement van BORA-hansgrohe dat daar niets van aan is. Ook de manager van de Belg bemoeide zich ermee en zo was er een nieuwe wielersoap geboren. Maxim en Youri duiken dieper in de materie en zodoende borrelen er her en der haarscheurtjes op. Wie is de grootste winnaar van deze affaire?In de vorige aflevering behandelden we al de mountainbike-ambities van Mathieu van der Poel. Daar is een nieuwe episode bijgekomen, nadat hij vorige week de media te woord stond. Hoe groot is de kans dat Van der Poel nu gaat mountainbiken op de Olympische Spelen? Waar dat twee weken geleden buiten kijf leek te staan, heeft de Nederlander nu zelf zijn twijfels geuit. Een hels dilemma, zo blijkt. Maar heeft hij de Tour de France nu wel écht nodig voor de Spelen?Voor het veldrijden zijn ook specialisten Niels en Zeger aangehaakt. Ze bespreken met z'n vieren de jammerlijke vaststelling rondom de Wereldbeker van Val di Sole van afgelopen zondag. Ook is er goed nieuws: de terugkeer van Wout van Aert in Essen van afgelopen weekend en de aanstaande rentree van Mathieu van der Poel in Herentals komende zaterdag. De cross kan weer rekenen op de twee grootheden. Wat betekent dit voor het strijdtoneel? Dat en meer in een fonkelnieuwe aflevering van de WielerFlits Podcast!

Het jaar is bijna voorbij en we zijn nog een controverse rijker. Cian Uijtdebroeks liet zijn contract ontbinden en maakt de overstap naar het toekomstige Visma | Lease a Bike. Maar niet iedereen denkt daar zo over. Jeroen Vanbelleghem, Bobbie Traksel en Thijs van Amerongen bespreken deze transfer. Uiteraard heeft Jeroen het juridische kader weer uitgeplozen, maar de mannen bespreken ook of het überhaupt een goede match zou zijn. Verder in het nieuws aandacht voor de sportvrouw en –man van het jaar en de ‘modepolitie' laat zich horen over nieuwe tenues. In een ruim crosskwartiertje is er aandacht voor de terugkeer van WvA in het veld. Hoewel de tegenstand nog niet enorm was, was dit toch indrukwekkend. Of kan Joris Nieuwenhuis, de winnaar van de Wereldbeker in Val di Sole, hem en de rest van de grote drie het vuur aan de schenen leggen? Ze schrijft en tekent ondermeer Karel en Kaatje, vooral voor peuters en kleuters. Ze heeft ook een reeks over Rik en Sam, en een reeks over verschillende beroepen. Ze woont in Herentals samen met haar man en hun twee dochters Roos en Fien. Ze vertelt tijdens ons gesprek hoe haar lezen eigenlijk begon op de Boekenbeurs in Antwerpen. Over de man die haar leerde lezen, en het is iemand die je niet zou verwachten. Ik vraag of ze het boekenvirus aan haar dochters heeft doorgegeven. Of ze niet soms de behoefte voelt om zelf een roman te schrijven. Het gaat het ontstaan van haar figuurtje Karel en haar bijzondere sollicitatie bij de uitgeverij. Over hoe er altijd iets van jezelf in je werk zit. En we worden hier geconfronteerd met een schrijfster die zoveel boeken geschreven heeft dat ze letterlijk de tel kwijt is: ze weet niet hoeveel boeken ze al gemaakt heeft. Opvallend nieuws in het mysterie naar de moord op juf Mieke uit Herentals. Een 37-jarige man, een ex-leerling van het slachtoffer, heeft zich aangegeven bij de politie. Hij bekent dat hij de moord heeft gepleegd. De dader is Gunter U, een zonderling met een sterk religieus profiel. In deze extra podcast van De Stemmen van Assisen leggen Nieuwsblad-reporters Marc Klifman en Cedric Lagast uit wat we al over hem weten, en wat zijn link was met juf Mieke. De wending komt er twee weken na onze podcast over de zaak, waarin Michel, de partner van juf Mieke, een ultieme oproep deed aan de dader om zich aan te geven. De dader kwam ook onder druk te staan, omdat hem gevraagd was om een DNA-staal af te geven.

Met 101 messteken werd juf Mieke (59) uit Herentals om het leven gebracht. Een enorm brutale moord, op een vrouw die zeer geliefd was en geen vijanden had. Ondanks een zeer uitgebreid DNA-onderzoek is de moordenaar anderhalf jaar later nog altijd niet gevonden. En dus doet haar man Michel via deze podcast een oproep. Aan iedereen die eventueel nog kan helpen. En aan de moordenaar: "Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat je dit kan blijven meenemen, dag in dag uit. Alstublieft, vertel wat er gebeurd is."

Noah talks about the 4th round of the X2O Trofee in Herentals with Issam and Twan. Talking points of the day: The new parcours, puncture of van der poel but ofcourse also the win of Van Aert and the dissapointing preformance of Iserbyt. As always we also talk about the Womens race where world champion Alvarado finally was able to take another win after her injury. But how did she do that? and where did brand make the mistake? Noah and Twan discuss the Ethias cross in Essen which took place on 22/12/2020. In the mens race it was Van der Poel who claimed his third victory of the season, in front of a strong Quinten hermans, and man of the moment Pidcock in third. Also some attention for some riders who finish in the top 10 less frequently like Cleppe and Turner. The main story of the womens race was the comeback of Marriane Vos, who took the win straight away infront of some surprising names as Clauzel, Van der Heide and Kay.
