La Vuelta n'aura pas été jusqu'à son terme. Raccourci pour cause de manifestations, le troisième Grand Tour de la saison n'aura pas été jusqu'au bout mais aura vu Jonas Vingegaard l'emporter, remportant ainsi un deuxième grand tour dans sa carrière. La concurrence n'a jamais semblé être assez forte pour remettre en cause sa victoire finale. Joaõ Almeida a pu rivaliser sur quelques étapes, mais le Danois a dominé de la tête et des épaules le grand tour d'Espagne.  Pendant ce temps-là, Pogacar s'amusait au Canada, en pleine balade sur le Grand Prix de Québec et de Montréal, aidant même un coéquipier à l'emporter sur ce dernier GP. Depois de dias de fuga, Jonas Vingegaard decidiu mostrar novamente quem manda na Vuelta a España. Ele venceu sua segunda etapa na competição e abriu vantagem para os rivais. Met een solo aankomst van Jonas Vingegaard kwam er een einde aan de eerste week van de Vuelta. Mart, Jip, Maarten en Maxim zijn onder de indruk van het rijden van de Deense kopman van Visma - Lease a bike, die al twee etappes pakte en de gedoodverfde kandidaat voor de eindoverwinning blijft. Wel moet er dan nog afgerekend worden met klassementsleider Torstein Traeen. De Noor verkocht zijn huid duur en wist het rood tot aan de rustdag te behouden, ook doordat hij lekker in het wiel van de renners van Visma-Lease a bike kon zitten.  Minder gelukkig was Hugo Almeida. De Portugees verloor 24 seconden op Vingegaard en sneerde na afloop dat hij vooral steun van zijn ploeggenoten had gemist. Maxim denkt dat het niet gezellig is aan tafel bij UAE. Jip ziet dat er geen plan is bij UAE om de Vuelta te winnen. Vine en Ayuso rijden voor eigen kansen en zijn er niet als het nodig is om Almeida te ondersteunen. Het verschil met de situatie bij Visma-Lease a bike is enorm. Daar draait alles erom om Vingegaard aan de eindoverwinning te helpen. Mart constateert de Almeida vaak weinig alert is en ook zondag weer te ver naar achteren zat. Maarten vindt het niet chique dat de Portugees de vuile was op straat gooit, maar dat er vuile was is, dat staat wel vast.  Señor 69  Vrijdag kwam Matthew Riccitello als 69e over de finish. Wie is deze Amerikaan? Hij is pas 23 en staat hij dertiende in het algemeen klassement en tweede in het jongerenklassement. Een zeer getalenteerde klimmer, noemt Jip hem. Hij won in 2023 al bijna de Tour de l'avenir, ware het niet dat ene Del Torro hem uit het geel reed. Mart weet dat hij uit de zoon is van de Amerikaanse triatlon legende Jimmy Riccitello.  En we blikken vooruit op week twee. De week van de Angliru en nog veel meer zware beklimmingen. Komende week gaat het klassement gemaakt worden. Dat wordt smullen, maar wat rest er dan nog voor week drie, vraag Jip zich af.
