The Vuelta is over and the world champs is well underway, which means we're nearly at the end of the 2025 racing season! It's really crept up on me, I can't believe it! On one hand, it feels like it's flown by, but on the other - the Spring Classics feel like forever ago.    This month's communique focuses on the World Champs over in Rwanda. It is an absolutely brutal course this year; almost 270kms with over 5000m of climbing. Whoever wins this is going to be a thoroughly deserving winner. Remco's already got himself a rainbow jersey in the TT; can he double up with another road race title?    What about Pog? He looked pretty knackered in the TT at the world champs, didn't he? Still cooked from the Tour or just reaching the end of his rope? I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but there's a big question mark over him ahead of the road race! But just watch him make me look like a cock knob and win by 9 minutes solo now.    There's some strong looking underdogs in the mix too; Del Toro, Healy, Carapaz, McNulty, Pidcock, and loads of other in form hitters that could spring a surprise and overcome the two main favourites. We discuss all the favourites as well as make our predictions.    In this month's PeloChat, Turbo Durbo gives us some insight into the end of a pros season - limping or striving through the last few races. Usually, a rider gets their provisional calendar at the start of the year, and it runs through to the Vuelta. After that, it's a case of “we'll see”. There's still races to go, but so many riders are sick, injured, or just cooked - so pulling together a decent squad to knock out the last few races of the year becomes a tricky task. Riders have to be adaptable throughout the whole season.    Southam's talking tactics dives into UAE's record breaking season - the most wins in 1 season by any team ever. How have they managed this? How does the team manage so many world class riders? How have they won so much but still lost the Giro on the last day, and seemingly piss the Vuelta away by hunting stages? Tom shares his take on UAE's questionable tactics at points throughout the year that still haven't stopped them winning almost everything.    The quiz this month is all about the world's TT. We're coming to the end of June, and in the world of cycling, that can only mean one thing…it's almost time for the Tour! It's all been leading up to this - the biggest bike race of the year. I've got my old mates Tom Southam and Luke Durbridge back on The Race Communique to help me preview this massive race and, oh boy, it's set to be an absolute banger.  Durbo kicks off this month with PeloChat, where he takes us through his TrainingPeaks data from the Tour de Suisse so we can see just how hard the racing is these days. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I am so glad I retired when I did; oh my god, the racing is just so brutal in 2025! Some of these numbers are crazy! And hey, Durbs, we all saw you splitting the bunch up with 70k to go on stage 1, so don't you start complaining about how tough it is out there these days… Before the Tour de Suisse, of course, we had the mini Tour de France - the Critérium du Dauphiné. This is where we saw ‘The Big Three' go toe to toe (to toe) with each other. Remco, Jonas, and - of course - Pogi. It was an amazing race, and Tadej came out looking absolutely dominant, but there was a pretty big question mark over his form after a quite frankly pathetic 4th place after the time trial. We know Jonas is still on the comeback trail from his crash back in Paris Nice, so with another few weeks of solid recovery, I think we're in for an absolutely massive battle this July. After we discussed the warm-up races, we got stuck into our massive Tour de France preview. We discuss everything - the stages, the riders, the moments that are going to define this year's race. An absolutely chaotic looking first 10 days around Northern France with tonnes of opportunity for an aggressive rider to take shed loads of time, an absolutely brutal end to the race in the mountains (stage 18 - holy sh*t!), a new finish circuit around Paris to make sure there's excitement all the way to the line, and heaps more! You're not going to want to miss a single second of this race. Hij is weer voorbij die mooie Giro. En wat hebben we genoten. Skitterende ritten, bizarre tactieken en een winnaar die zo wholesome is dat het bijna eng wordt. Deze Giro gaat de boeken in als die van het falen van UAE, het schitteren van Lidl Trek en de terugkeer van zowel Simon Yates als Wout van Aert. Olav Kooij heeft een vanuit Nederlands oogpunt zeer succesvolle Giro compleet gemaakt. De topsprinter van Visma boekte in de slotrit rondom Rome zijn tweede etappezege. Het was de vierde Nederlandse overwinning van deze Ronde van Italië, nog nooit wonnen Nederlanders zó vaak in één Giro. De grootste jynx die de rode lantaarn ooit heeft afgeleverd is toch wel die van de Giro in 2018. In de hoop dat Dumoulin de ronde van Italie voor het tweede jaar op rij zou winnen, feliciteerden wij de Australier alvast met zijn eindoverwinning. En net als met Kruijswijk een paar jaar eerder sloeg het noodlot toe. Simon Yates stortte in en verloor de Giro op grandioze wijze. Wij waren geen steek verder want Chris Froome toverde een konijn uit een hoed waar wij al lang geen rekening meer mee hielden. Net zoals dat UAE vandaag geen rekening hield met Simon Yates. En dat Carapaz ooit de Giro won omdat Roglic en Nibali elkaar het wit uit de ogen keken was de Ecuadoraan blijkbaar ook vergeten want hij en Del Toro gunden elkaar geen meter en gingen daarna als twee bokkende pubers op hun kamer zitten. Er komen een hele hoop verhalen bij elkaar vandaag. De ene nog ronder dan de ander. Eindstand is, Simon Yates wint de Giro en dat is ongelofelijk mooi...

Simon Yates heeft afgerekend met zijn trauma uit 2018. Toen verloor hij de Giro op de Finestre, nu slaat hij daar juist genadeloos toe. Het kan alle kanten op deze Giro. Roglic, das war einmahl. Ayuso, mentale problemen. Landa, die ligt al lang en breed thuis op de bank. Maar gelukkig zijn er genoeg mensen wieder da. Carapaz, Simon Yates en Egan Bernal doen het jaar 2019 glimmen van trots. Gelukkig hebben we ook nog een jonge stier die overal doorheen stuift. De eerste twee weken zo soepel als een hoepel, de afgelopen twee dagen meer hangen dan wurgen. Maar als de streep in zicht komt laat hij zien dat 'ie nog altijd een factor van belang is. Del Toro wint de rit, en misschien wel de Giro...

Rozetruidrager Isaac del Toro won vandaag weliswaar de rit, maar we zagen ook waarom de Giro winnen een hele lastige opgave voor hem gaat worden. Martijn is benieuwd naar wat er achter de zonnebril van Ayuso te zien is en volgens Jip kan Carapaz weleens aan het langst eind trekken deze Giro: de zware rit van zaterdag is op zijn lijf geschreven. We weten het zondag, andiamo!

De beslissing in de Tour zit er aan te komen. Zo ver is Nice niet meer, gelukkig valt er in de laatste week nog een hoop te beleven. Caracas wint terwijl de grote mannen ook nog eens uit hun slof schieten. En donderdag wint Vriend van de Show Victor Campenaerts in een skitterende sprint van Vercher en Kwiat. Etapa de transición hoy con final difícil, ideal para cazadores de etapas desde una escapada, y así ocurrió! Un grupo grande de más de 40 ciclistas se fugaron y en la penúltima subida del día, Richard Carapaz atacó, alcanzó a varios ciclistas que ya iban por delante y llegó en solitario el la línea de meta en Superdevoluy, atribuyéndose la victoria de etapa.  En el grupo de los favoritos, que llegó con varios minutos de retraso sobre los escapados, Remco Evenepoel pudo ganar unos segundos sobre Pogaçar y sobre todo Jonás Vingegaard.

Podio del Tour definido. Claramente Pogacar, Vingegaard y Remco dieron estocada decisiva. -Girmay, Tadej, con 3 etapas y dominando 3 clasificaciones, son las 2 figuras del evento.La suerte de Roglic un caso de: ¿mala suerte o exagerada presión?. Det har været en Tour-åbning ud over det sædvanlige. Første gang det store franske etapeløb starter i Italien, vinder to forskellige franskmænd de to første etaper, hvilket ikke er sket siden 1961. Jonas Vingegaard besvarede alle Pogacars italienske angreb og er indtil videre i kontrol, trods en bøvlet optakt. Bøvlet blev det for alvor for Casper P, der på dagens sprinteretape styrtede og brækkede kravebenet. Til gengæld er der jubel i Ecuador, da Richard Carapaz sikrede sydamerikanerne den første gule trøje i nationens historie. Første Tour-etapesejr i Eritreas historie blev det også til, da Biniam Girmay overraskende vandt den første sprinteretape efter et styrt i finalen.
