Hope is something that is missing from American politics. It was not found in the campaign and presidency of Donald Trump and oddly it isn't found among his detractors. In this commentary, Dennis argues that if Trump and Trumpism is to be defeated, his enemies must have hope. TOMORROW… Is shrouded in the unknown masked by uncertainty It holds anticipated joy, ease, and freshness for some While for others Sorrow, difficulty or or mundane For some it brings fear yet for others it offers HOPE… Why? I would submit to you today that tomorrow is best approached by our remembering……
Without Jesus In Our Lives and the Life of Our Country There Is No Person or Institution to “Face Our Difficult Circumstances” With Us MESSAGE SUMMARY: Introduction From: “God Wants Us to Live In His “Hope” and His Word, through Bible Scripture, which Gives us so Much “Hope”: In Psalms 42:5-6a, 43:5, we are told that, in all circumstances, God is our “Hope”: “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God .". Today, followers of Jesus live in a time of both turmoil and uncertainty with issues like Covid-19, cultural dissonance, and civil discourse providing an overarching context that can lead us to fear, doubt in our faith, and feelings of “hopelessness”. These issues of today, that drive our uncertainties and fears, have impacted America profoundly, including Followers of Jesus. However, as Followers of Jesus, we know that none of these issues are taking God by surprise. Yet so many of us are discouraged, downcast, depressed, and fearful. Too many of us have lost “Hope”. Proverbs 13:12 tells us: “Hope deferred makes the heart sick,". Without “Hope”, we are like ships sailing without a harbor. God wants us to have “Hope” in our everchanging world! “Hope” is the anticipation of a good future; “Hope” is having faith and believing that God is working out His purposes in the World and in my life. Here are some of the things we can say about “God's Hope” for us through His: 1) promise of Eternal Life; 2) abiding presence with us; 3) answering of our prayers; and 4) His unchanging promises in His Word. God's Word is powerful when we put it into action in our lives, as we are told in Romans 8:24-25: “For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.". In the times in which we live today, God wants the Followers of Jesus to Have all the “Hope” that He provides. Also, God provides His Peace and Love that solidify our “Hope” in Him: “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me”? Hope in God”! Today's Message: “Facing Difficult Circumstances – Hope for the Suffering and Persecuted Christians in First Century Rome Christians Today”: In our times, today, of Pandemic, civil disobedience, and cultural dissonance, we can both learn a great deal and gain “Hope” in our current situation from the Bible's book of Hebrews. The book of Hebrew's writer wanted to give “Hope” to the persecuted Christians in Rome by pointing out the superiority of Jesus the Christ over all the problems they were facing from their persecution by the Emperor Nero. The writer did not want Christians to deviate and leave their Faith in Jesus because the times were bleak and the difficult circumstances they were facing appeared hopeless. ` In Hebrew's, the writer wanted Roman Christians to understand that if they turned away from Jesus there was no one else with whom they could face their difficult circumstances. The message to us, in these times, is that without Jesus in our lives and in the life of our country there is no one or no institution, to whom we can turn, for help in “facing our difficult circumstances”. To this end, the first two chapters of Hebrews provide a clear picture of who Jesus is in terms of His humanity and Divinity – Jesus is eternal when nothing else is eternal. In Hebrews 1:10-11, we find the culmination of Jesus Divinity along with His humanity that positions His superiority for us: “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.”. Also, the writer of Hebrews, in Hebrews 1:2-4, speaks of “in these last days”, to reference the times after Jesus' birth, death and Resurrection in which God has “acted and spoken” on Earth. God's actions on Earth were in fulfilment, through Jesus, of those promises He made through the Old Testament Prophets. Now, “in these last days”, is the time, in the First Century and today, in which Jesus and God's power and superiority on Earth and in the Universe, are unassailable by any person, institution, force, government entity, or nation: “in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”. This text from Hebrews 1:2-4 points to Jesus as Lord over all creation and humanity. Additionally, Hebrews 1:2-3 points to Jesus as the Son of God the Father and the exact representation of God's Being. Jesus is, also, the Savior of sinners who brought Salvation to Earth and humanity. We see that Jesus is worshiped by the Angels. Hebrews tells us that Jesus speaks with the authority of God. Also, beginning in Hebrews 1:10, the writer points out that that Jesus is superior in eternal attributes. In Hebrews 2:1-3, Followers of Jesus are warned not to let their faith in Jesus drift away: “Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,". Today, we “live in difficult circumstances”; and we should draw both strength and caution from Hebrews in that we live “in the last days” like the persecuted Roman Christians. Therefore, we should live our lives pointing to Jesus and not letting the ”difficult circumstances” cause our faith in Jesus drift away – Jesus' eternal superiority, as the Son of God, makes Him the only real way that we can “live in difficult circumstances”. God is our Sovereign Lord, and Jesus is God's final answer. Therefore, we can draw confidence from Hebrews 13:5b-6: “for he {Jesus} has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you' So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'”. Remember, Jesus is the light that shines in the darkness as we “live in difficult circumstances”. As we live, today, “in these last days”, we should not look to any other person, institution, force, government entity, or nation, other than Jesus. Jesus is our only source of protection and the way out of our “difficult circumstances” which are manifested by the Pandemic, civil disobedience, and cultural dissonance. Once again, Jesus is the only “way, and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FORGIVEN. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Hebrews 1:10-14; Hebrews 1:2-7; John 14:6;Psalms 2:8; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:15-16; Colossians 2:9; John 10:30; John 14:9; Psalms 2:7; 2 Samuel 7:14; Deuteronomy 32:43; Psalms 104:4; Psalms 45:6-7; Psalms 8:1-9; Isiah 34:1-17; Psalms 110:1; Hebrews 2:1-3; Hebrews 4:16; Hebrews 13:6. Welcome to Blended! This is a brand new show for Let's Talk Supply Chain and it's going to be a little bit different to what you've heard before. We talk a lot about the challenges facing our industry as a whole – changing technology, network complexity, surprises like COVID-19 – but what we don't talk as much about is the people. The people that really drive our industry forward. And specifically, the under-represented people in our industry. I've been flying the flag for women in supply chain for a few years now, through the podcast and some of my other endeavors, but Blended is going to go much further than that. Because it's not just women who are a minority – we need to be thinking about the LGBTQIA community, people of color, those with disabilities, whether they're visible or hidden. As minorities, we need to join together to support each other and be each other's allies - to ensure we ALL have a seat at the table to make our industry the absolute best it can be. Today in Episode 1, ‘What's in a Name,' we're going to be talking all about the language we use when discussing minorities – what do these words mean to us, and to others; are there right or wrong words to use, and what are the subtexts of those words; and what does diversity, inclusion and identity mean to us. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: [03.29] Introductions to our Blended panelists. Prakash M Radhakrishnan – Courier Operations at Toll and award-winning YouTube producer with a focus on disability and mental health. Holly Qualman – VP of Marketing and Client Solutions America for Apex Logistics and adopted Korean-American woman, flying the flag for multi-racial unity. Matthew Hernandez – General Manger for North America at Xenata and representative of both the LatinX and LGBTQIA communities. Hope White – Founder and CEO of HD White Logistics, Founder of Hope White Consulting and Logistically Speaking Online and proud black woman. Greg White – Founder of Blue Ridge Global, host of Supply Chain Now and father of daughters, with native American heritage. [11.23] The word ‘minority' and its connotations. “It's time to think about the world on a global scale.” Greg. Is it a beneficial or derogatory term? Does it perpetuate the feeling of being ‘other' or ‘less than,' since its technical definition is less than half the whole? How does the insistence on labelling people affect mental health and self-esteem? How does being a minority affect your goals and ambitions – are they personal to you, or are they developed so you can conform to a societal norm? Are we designed to keep each other at arm's length; is the tendency towards segregation a result of evolution – how do we push the reset button on human nature? Are labels necessary at all, or are we all just people? “It's another stage of evolution – before we develop the language for it, we need to understand how we got here.” Matthew. [33.20] What words should we be using specifically for the disability community? “There's no rulebook – and the disability community feel the same.” Prakash [36.10] The impact of upbringing. Why the way that we're raised is so vital – prejudice is learnt, or tackled, at an early age. Why we need to support everyone to succeed, and make sure that those at a disadvantage get equal if not greater support. The danger in not taking on board peoples experiences and viewpoints because of preconceptions. How the use of incorrect labels muddies the water and creates confusion. Assumption is ignorance: the importance of being able to continue to interpret and learn. [44.12] What words should we be using specifically for the LGBTQIA community and people of color? Why it's important to take the time to listen. How some words have traditionally been used to separate minorities and make them ‘an other.' Why education is so important. [55.28] The importance of identity. “It's not what you're called, it's what you answer to.” Hope Why we all need to be in charge of our own identities. How descriptors have changed over time and the impact that those changes have had. Why it's OK to ask, as long as you're asking for the right reason. Why we need to pay attention to the nuances of individual identities. The responsibility of minorities to educate others. The importance of open and honest conversations, that come from a place of empathy and understanding. [69.09] Today's buzzwords: diversity and inclusion. So many of us minorities have to jump through so many hoops just to get a small slither of the pie.” Hope What do these words mean to us? Can you have one without the other? How the meaning of diversity and inclusion can be influenced by how we're raised, or what we're exposed to on a long-term basis. Why diversity and inclusion also need to include processes to build the foundations for education and understanding and promoting acceptance. Often in the corporate world, we know there's a problem, but we very seldom have the opportunity to talk about it openly.” Matthew [80.16] Our summaries of ‘what's in a name.' Keep an open mind – Holly Everyone has a story – Hope Don't be scared to ask the question – Prakash Take some time to self-reflect – Matthew Seek first to understand – Greg
God Wants Us to Live In His “Hope” and His Word, through Bible Scripture, which Gives us so Much “Hope” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Special Feature -- God Answers Our Prayers If We Ask: God stands ready to answer our prayers, but He only answers after we ask, as we are Told in James 4:2: “You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.". God’s answers our prayers with “Yes”; “No” or “Wait”. God’s answer to our prayer, irrespective of His answer, very well may not be at the speed which our technology-driven culture of impatience has as a driving attribute. However, God is Sovereign in everything, including His answers to our prayers. God answers prayer in His time. Today’s Message – God Gives Us “Hope” In His Unchanging Promises In His Word: In Psalms 42:5-6a, 43:5, we are told that, in all circumstances, God is our “Hope”: “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Here are some of the things we can say about “God’s Hope” for us through His: 1) promise of Eternal Life; 2) abiding presence with us; 3) answering of our prayers; and 4) His unchanging promises in His Word. God has given us His Word, which contains hundreds of God’s promises, and His promises are filled with “Hope”. We can be assured that the Bible, with God’s promises, is God’s Word based on 2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”. Bible Scripture, God’s Word, is powerful when we put it into action in our lives, as we are told in Romans 8:24-25: “For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.". Therefore, the Bible’s Scriptures give us “Hope” because they provide us with God’s promises like God’s promise of Eternal Life. We are told, in Romans 8:38-39, that nothing can separate us from God’s Word and, therefore, can separate us from God’s promises of “Hope”: “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”. The Bible provides many promises from God for our “Hope”; but, ultimately, God promises, in Philippians 4:13, give us the strength for all that is necessary to achieve our “Hope” in Him: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.". In 1 Peter 1:3-5, the Apostle Peter tells us that God has given us “Hope” through being reborn in a new life as a Follower of Jesus: “. . . he{God} has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”. In the times in which we live today, God wants the Followers of Jesus to Have all the “Hope” that He provides. Also, God provides His Peace and Love that solidify our “Hope” in Him: “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me”? Hope in God”! TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD’S EYES. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21). God's answers our prayers with “Yes”; “No” or “Wait”. We Have “Hope” in Today’s World of Fear, Doubt, and Feelings of “Hopelessness” Through God’s Abiding Presence With Us and In Us MESSAGE SUMMARY: Special Feature: God is our “Hope” in this ever changing and threatening world. “Hope” is the anticipation of a good future; “Hope” is having faith and believing that God is working out His purposes in the World and in my life. Here are some of the things we can say about “God’s Hope” for us through His: 1) promise of Eternal Life; 2) abiding presence with us; 3) answering of our prayers; and 4) unchanging promises. Initially, our focus is on “God’s Hope” that He has given us for “Eternal Life”. We are all going to die, but God’s Grace and promise to the Followers of Jesus for “Eternal Life” places an entirely different perspective on dying, God not only has given us “Eternal Life”, through His Grace to the followers of Jesus; but God wants us to know and have “Hope” in the certain knowledge of our “Eternal Life”. In addition to the Gospel’s messages of “Hope” directly from Jesus, Romans provides more assurances of our basis for “Hope from God”, as in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”. Also, Paul’s expression of “God’s Hope” is profoundly expressed in Romans 8:38-39: “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.". In Philippians 1:21-24, Paul again expresses his “Hope” in an earthly life lived in Christ for service to the Kingdom of God but also his “Hope” in his death for his “Eternal Life” with Jesus: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.”. Today’s Message -- God Gives Us “Hope” In His Abiding Presence With Us and In Us: In Psalms 42:5-6a, we are told that, in all circumstances, God is our “Hope”: “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.” Today, followers of Jesus live in a time of both turmoil and uncertainty with issues like Covid-19, cultural dissonance, and civil discourse providing an overarching context that can lead us to fear, doubt in our faith, and feelings of “hopelessness”. Do you believe that the Lord’s presence is with you as a Follower of Jesus? With God’s abiding presence in our lives, we have “Hope” because we know that we are not alone! Whatever we are facing, the Lord is with us! God gives us His abiding presence because: 1) our positional presence is In Christ – God looks at us through His Son, Jesus. In John 5:24-25, Jesus tells us that we have been transferred to the Kingdom of Life: “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live."; 2) the presence of the Holy Spirit, God Himself, in our lives, as Jesus tells us in John 14:16-17 as He is headed for the dross: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”; 3) our abiding presence in the Promises of Jesus, as is referenced in Hebrews 13:5b-6: “for he {Jesus} has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear, what can man do to me?’”; and 4) “Hope” in God’s abiding presence when we practice the presence of God, which is our living with an awareness that God is with us every moment of the day through our walking, living, and being in communion with God at all times -- in our awareness of God’s abiding presence with us, God takes us away from the despair inherent in life’s uncertainties and into His “Hope”. In 1 Peter 3:15, we are told: “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”. Sadly, too many do not have “God’s Hope” today because of their life’s circumstances and issues, which they deem as overwhelming. Let us remember and take with us Psalms 42:5-6a: “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”. God wants us to have “Hope” in Him through His assurance of His abiding presence in our lives – God’s “Hope” for us. TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! (Luke 11:13). We All Need “Hope” in Today's World of Fear, Doubt in Our Faith, and Feelings of “Hopelessness”; and God Is this “Hope” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Special Feature – Our Peace and the World's Peace: There are five different ways that “Peace” is used in the Bible: 1) attribute of God; 2) a fruit of the Holy Spirit: 3) state of mind – condition of one's heart; 4) absence of conflict – between peoples or countries; and 5) and a “right relationship with God” through Jesus. Jesus does always bring His Followers a personal “Peace” through our Salvation, by God's Grace, as God's “Peace that passes all understanding”. However, Jesus tells us that His ways are not always our ways; and Jesus does not always bring “Peace” to and in the world. The world has tribulation; but Jesus has overcome the world. However, Jesus tells us, in Luke 12:49-56, that He, also, brings “division”. Today, like in the time period of Luke's Gospel, we need to pay attention to God's signs in the world. If we are serious about being a Follower of Jesus today, we need to listen to Jesus in Luke 12:49-56. Jesus begins His sermon, to many thousands starting in Luke 12:49, with His “fire of persecution”: “I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! In this passage, “fire” does not mean the Holy Spirit; “fire” means the “fire of persecution” – which is “when the Gospel is preached without compromise”. This “fire” is the hostility that occurs when the world hears the Gospel preached without compromise and rejects Jesus and His Gospel. Today's Message – We Are All in Need of “Hope” Today, and God Is our “Hope”: In Psalms 42:5-6a, we are told that, in all circumstances, God is our “Hope”: “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Welcome to Blended! This is a brand new show for Let’s Talk Supply Chain and it’s going to be a little bit different to what you’ve heard before. We talk a lot about the challenges facing our industry as a whole – changing technology, network complexity, surprises like COVID-19 – but what we don’t talk as much about is the people. The people that really drive our industry forward. And specifically, the under-represented people in our industry. I’ve been flying the flag for women in supply chain for a few years now, through the podcast and some of my other endeavors, but Blended is going to go much further than that. Because it’s not just women who are a minority – we need to be thinking about the LGBTQIA community, people of color, those with disabilities, whether they’re visible or hidden. As minorities, we need to join together to support each other and be each other’s allies - to ensure we ALL have a seat at the table to make our industry the absolute best it can be. Today in Episode 1, ‘What’s in a Name,’ we’re going to be talking all about the language we use when discussing minorities – what do these words mean to us, and to others; are there right or wrong words to use, and what are the subtexts of those words; and what does diversity, inclusion and identity mean to us. [11.23] The word ‘minority’ and its connotations. “It’s time to think about the world on a global scale.” Greg. Is it a beneficial or derogatory term? Does it perpetuate the feeling of being ‘other’ or ‘less than,’ since its technical definition is less than half the whole? How does the insistence on labelling people affect mental health and self-esteem? How does being a minority affect your goals and ambitions – are they personal to you, or are they developed so you can conform to a societal norm? Are we designed to keep each other at arm’s length; is the tendency towards segregation a result of evolution – how do we push the reset button on human nature? Are labels necessary at all, or are we all just people? “It’s another stage of evolution – before we develop the language for it, we need to understand how we got here.” Matthew. [33.20] What words should we be using specifically for the disability community? “There’s no rulebook – and the disability community feel the same.” Prakash [36.10] The impact of upbringing. Why the way that we’re raised is so vital – prejudice is learnt, or tackled, at an early age. Why it’s important to take the time to listen. How some words have traditionally been used to separate minorities and make them ‘an other.’ Why education is so important. [55.28] The importance of identity. “It’s not what you’re called, it's what you answer to.” Hope Why we all need to be in charge of our own identities. How descriptors have changed over time and the impact that those changes have had. Why it’s OK to ask, as long as you’re asking for the right reason. Why we need to pay attention to the nuances of individual identities. The responsibility of minorities to educate others. The importance of open and honest conversations, that come from a place of empathy and understanding. [69.09] Today’s buzzwords: diversity and inclusion. So many of us minorities have to jump through so many hoops just to get a small slither of the pie.” Hope What do these words mean to us? Can you have one without the other? How the meaning of diversity and inclusion can be influenced by how we’re raised, or what we’re exposed to on a long-term basis. Why diversity and inclusion also need to include processes to build the foundations for education and understanding and promoting acceptance. Often in the corporate world, we know there’s a problem, but we very seldom have the opportunity to talk about it openly.” Matthew [80.16] Our summaries of ‘what’s in a name.’ Keep an open mind – Holly Everyone has a story – Hope Don’t be scared to ask the question – Prakash Take some time to self-reflect – Matthew Seek first to understand – Greg Check out our other podcasts HERE.

It's the one question that has all the answers! "Wonderful Question Loaded with Hope" Why do you look for the living amoung the dead? He's not here. He is risen!" Lk 24:5 A person's wisdom is revealed in the questions he tries to answer. Wise people ponder the deep, perplexing questions; foolish people have no questions at all. One of the greatest questions ever posed was asked that the day at the empty tomb. Let's be wise this morning and ponder it as well!
