Hugh Dillon is a man of many talents, including acting, writing and rocking -- the latter done with his band, Headstones. The acting writing and producing skills were put to the test this third season on the Paramount+ drama Mayor of Kingstown.  Dillon and his series co-creator Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone; Tulsa King) made it their mission to put their lead, Jeremy Renner, firmly back on his feet again after the actor suffered a horrible accident in January of 2023.  Renner's Mayor "Mike" McLusky spends most episodes racing from crisis to crisis as he tries to settle gang wars that are constantly errupting in his prison town.  Viewers will see McLusky pick up right where he left off at the end of Season 2, with Renner showing no signs of the damage he suffered as a result of being crushed under a  seven ton snow plow.On this episode, Dillon also references his former series, Flashpoint, his years growing up in his own prison town, Kingston, Ont., and his new album with the Headstones.

Sometimes there is no 'Plan B'.On this very special episode we get back into the TV of things as the 3rd Season of 'Mayor of Kingstown' is now rolling out on Paramount Plus. The McLusky family are power brokers tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry.Starring the one and only Jeremy Renner and co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Canada's own Hugh Dillon, this is a character crime drama that is earning it's credibility in the genre along side some of the greats in TV lore.We had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with co-creator and co-star Hugh Dillon to talk about the challenges heading into Season 3, and appreciating the "fun" of being an actor and a storyteller.

Thanks for inviting me to your haunted house, you f**king pricks, I'm gonna be up all night. Season 2 of Mayor of Kingstown has concluded. A show that seems to live below the radar, Mayor of Kingstown became even better in Season 2. While it's not as slick and polished as other similar shows, the messiness of the show actually echoes the messy, flawed nature of the characters, which is what makes it great to watch. The series also leaned more into dark humor this season, to great effect. Jeremy Renner is great in this, and Tobi Bamtefa and Taylor Handley and Hugh Dillon and Dianne Wiest and Aiden Gillen and Michael Beach and Kenny Johnson... they all get moments to shine. Hugh Dillon was sick with worry after hearing of Mayor of Kingstown co-star Jeremy Renner's recent snow plow accident. The crushing mishap put the Avengers star in the hospital with critical injuries. Dillon's fears were put to rest after speaking with Renner.“I knew he was going to be okay because he was just so profane and so funny,” says Dillon. “That's the testament to the kind of person he is because he wants you to not worry.”The bracing prison town series has just returned for a second season on Paramount+. Dillon doesn't just act on the series, he co-created it with his pal and long-time acting coach Taylor Sheridan. The two previously worked together on Sheridan's Yellowstone, where Dillon played Sherriff Donnie Haskell.Dillon based Mayor of Kingstown on his own hometown, Kingston, Ontario. Friends and family members worked in the prisons there and Dillon played hockey with prison guards. He reflects on how a few misdeeds along the way could have made prison life even more familiar to him.He worked over a decade on his dream of making his prison series a reality. He even convinced producers to shoot the first season in a decommissioned prison right in Kingston. (Season Two wrapped on a larger prison field in Pittsburgh.)On the podcast, Dillon also talks about his previous acting work on the CTV-CBS series Flashpoint as well as on other dramas such as The Killing and Durham County. He's racked up close to 50 IMDb acting credits so far – not bad for a guy who has been rocking, recording and touring with his band The Headstones for decades.

Quote of the morning: Add the line 'if you catch my drift' to any phrase and it automatically becomes sexy. 'We're out of milk... If you catch my drift' So much stuff of the show today! We made the budget sexy, talked about the grammar police, got weird with Confused Lyrics, had another epic pregnancy brain moment from Stacie, and Hugh Dillon from The Headstones joined us at the end!

This is not a test! We have "jammed the transmission" and taken over the Decibel Geek Podcast. Consider this the Hostile Hoser Hijack as this week your favorite podcast has been taken hostage by CANADIANS! Consider this episode as a sequel to the previous Radio Sucks - Canadian Edition show but this time broadcast from the pirate studio in the Great White North. Chris and Aaron get to take the week off whether they expected to or not! Your hijacker hosts, Wally Norton and Rich Dillon dig through some of their Canadian Cd's in hope of turning on the Decibel Geek Army to some new sounds from north of the border. Things get rolling with Automan.ca a new Canadian band featuring a familiar name. Front man Darrell "Dwarf" Millar (Killer Dwarfs) has stepped out from behind the drums and exercises his vocals with "Back in the Sun" Wally dedicates his first pick to Aaron Camaro who mentioned Slik Toxic on the last Canadian episode. From the "Doin the Nasty" album comes "Cheap Nicotine". Slik Toxic's vocalist can be now heard fronting his new band Famous Underground with a new album just released not long ago. Slash Puppet is up next, with "When the Whip Comes Down" probably one of the greatest Canadian bands to never get signed back in the day. Up here though, they burned bright with some great tunes and kick ass live  shows. Up next, something almost unheard of on the Decibel Geek show is a ballad. In what Wally describes as the greatest rock ballad ever written, we have Gypsy Rose and "Don't Turn Your Back On Me Now" from the Gene Simmons produced Prey album. "One Way Ticket" is a tune from a great young band out of the Hamilton area, 40 Sons. This tune proves that there is hope for the future as these kids are writing some really melodic, kick ass rock tunes. Fraze Gang, featuring Greg Fraser and Stevie Skreebs of Brighton Rock have just released Fraze Gang 2 and "Saint or Sinner" the lead off track is Wally's pick to kick things into overdrive. With a real Judas Priest feel, the guitar work on this track is truly smoking! Some Decibel Geeks might know of the television police drama Flashpoint. What you may not know is that Hugh Dillon who plays Officer Ed Lane on the show is also the front man for Canadian Punk rockers The Headstones. Rich spins the high octane "Reno" off the Smile and Wave CD. The Decibel Geeks have already been introduced to Carl Dixon and Coney Hatch. This time we turn to Coney's bass player Andy Curran and his solo band Soho 69 with the track "Scatterbrain". Next up Rich chooses the song "Pine Valley" from the obscure Canadian band Mushroom Trail. A bluesy little rocker from a band so obscure that he even stumped his co-host. Closing out this Canadian metal feast, after all the back-bacon and beer. We have a real treat, West Memphis Suicide rocking out a crunchy version of Kiss's "War Machine". This track can be found on the new Kissin' Time - Canada's Tribute to Kiss CD. This Cd was just released on Halloween 2012 with all proceeds going to Sick Kids Hospital here in Toronto.
