The film writers Brian Abrams and Will Sloan return to the podcast for a salute to one of our favourite screen presences, the great American character actor Joe Don Baker, who passed away this month at the age of 89. We discuss the full arc of Joe Don's career, thrust into leading man status in the early seventies playing Tennessee Sheriff Buford Pusser who waged war against the Dixie Mob in 1973's populist smash hit Walking Tall, and the less financially successful followup with the same director (Phil Karlson), the brutal, sweaty noir thriller Framed, to the role that (like it or not) defined him for so many in the culture as a scuzzy cop in 1975's Mitchell (immortalized on one of the funniest episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000) to his comeback in the eighties in the masterful BBC miniseries Edge of Darkness (where he received the most acclaim he ever got as an actor), his several appearances in the Bond series (where he played both a good guy and a bad guy), and his notable supporting role in Scorsese's remake of Cape Fear. Vi ratear/roastar IGN:s tiopoängare genom tiderna!Listan: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) Reviewed by Kristine Steimer November 25, 1998 "The new benchmark for interactive entertainment has arrived. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the fifth official installment in Nintendo's popular action adventure series is finally here, and like its NES predecessor in 1987 it is a game so enjoyable, it has the power to pull videogame players into its imaginative worlds -- and refuse to let go for days. Call us crazy, but when the final version of Zelda 64 arrived in the IGN64 offices, we stopped working, locked ourselves into a room with a big-screen TV and a surround system and played 17 hours straight. After only a few hours of sleep, we were back for more and we couldn't stop until we finished the game. Then, we started over again to find all the secrets. Rarely is there such a perfect mixture of graphics, sound, and gameplay that even the most cynical players will admit that Zelda 64 is poised to shape the action RPG genre for years to come." Pokemon Red Reviewed by Craig Harris June 23, 1999 "Pokemon really is worthy of being one of the Game Boy system's greatest games - it's not just a fad, a craze, or trend. If you don't have this game in your library, pick one up, it doesn't matter if you pick Blue or Red, they're both the same game. You'll just have to make sure you've got a friend with the other version if you want to catch 'em all." Pokemon Blue Reviewed by Craig Harris June 23, 1999 "Pokemon really is worthy of being one of the Game Boy system's greatest games - it's not just a fad, a craze, or trend. Jung July 6, 1999 "This is a high-performance title that does nothing but pure video racing, and does it extremely well. Crammed with exciting gameplay, fast action, options galore, hot sound and graphics, and true multiplayer challenge, Checkered Flag is absolutely terrific!" Joust Reviewed by Robert A. Jung July 6, 1999 "Joust is another unbelievably excellent product from Shadowsoft. Players who never played the arcade title will be captivated by its simple rules, deep strategy, and fast action, while the legions of arcade Joust fans will be in video-gaming heaven!" Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Reviewed by Craig Harris July 21, 1999 "Super Mario Bros. remains one of my top 10 favorite games of all-time, even though it's almost a decade and a half old. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is such a perfect translation, it makes me wonder if it's easy to port NES games to the Game Boy Color. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is the Game Boy Color-specific game to own, hands down, and will be the title that, hopefully, will key a revolution of porting NES games to the handheld system. Buy this game. Now." The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX Reviewed by Adam Cleveland September 17, 1999 "If that's not enough to set your minds on gaming fire, then you seriously need a reality check, because The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening has never been anything but one of the top video games of all time, and its latest, enhanced version is nothing short of perfect. For years to come and then some, it will continue to remain one of my all-time favorite adventures, and unless someone puts a couple of gun barrels to my head, my opinions won't be swayed. If you don't already own Zelda DX, there's no reason from this point on that you shouldn't. So hop in your car and step on the gas, 'cause the best Game Boy game of all time has been for sale for quite some time, and you're missing out on oceans of fun." Soulcalibur Reviewed by Anoop Gantayat September 20, 1999 "Few games come to mind as "required purchases," games that are so good that they have to be a part of your lineup. The original Soul Edge was such a game, and now Soul Calibur has earned a place alongside its brother. It may or may not be the most complicated fighting game out there - I'm not bold enough to make such a statement. I am bold enough, though, to state that I've never had so much fun with a fighting game than I had when playing Soul Calibur." Mario Golf (Game Boy Color) Reviewed by Craig Harris October 5, 1999 "Guys and gals, I don't care if you're not into golf, you must add Mario Golf to your library of Game Boy Color games. This game is the perfect title to complement your collection. It's got tons of variety, pick-up-and-play controls, N64 connectivity... and it's great fun, especially in the later levels. The early challenges from the pros are decidedly easy to get through ¿ you'll see them throw easy, five foot putts to give you the lead. But when you go up against Mario in the Tournaments, watch out. Mario Golf is by far the best portable version of golf, and it even comes close to toppling some of the PC golf offerings as well." Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition Reviewed by Craig Harris October 19, 1999 "There's a reason why Pokemon is so successful, it's an excellent game. The game isn't incredibly deep, but the incentive of catching new creatures for your personal collection is a strong enough force to get you going to the end. The game is super easy to pick up and play, yet it's challenging it its own right. And it's addictive. After playing both Pokemon Red/Blue and then Yellow, I have to say that Pokemon Yellow is the best version to start out on the whole Pokemon craze." Sonic Pocket Adventure Reviewed by Craig Harris December 7, 1999 "I am really, really stunned at how well Sonic Pocket Adventure turned out on the NeoGeo Pocket Color ¿ the system needed a platform game, and Sonic delivers big-time. There are minor slowdown glitches, but not enough to distract from the overall game experience. The cartridge is truly brimming with gaming options that will keep you coming back, especially if you're lucky enough to have access to two systems. SNK really delivers the goods on another company's mascot, and Sonic Pocket Adventure is a cartridge no handheld library should be without. Yes, it has to be said: this game is a system-seller." SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium Reviewed by Craig Harris January 4, 2000 "As far as I'm concerned, this is the perfect handheld fighter, no question about it. The Capcom license gives players a familiar feel as well as introducing newcomers to the SNK library of fighters. The game isn't exactly a challenge right off the bat, but once you move the difficulty setting from Normal to Hard (there's two more after that: Brutal and Gamer), good luck. The computer AI can get downright nasty. And the Olympic mode really puts your Street Fighter abilities to test - let's just see how far you can get. SNK just keeps doing the right stuff with its portable...let's hope the Capcom tradition continues. The Ghouls 'N Ghosts minigame just BEGS to be converted into the full-fledged game. Let's have it, people..." Källa: IGN INDIA

What. Just. Happened??? In arguably one of the most chaotic races of the past year, Max Verstappen pulls out another victory with the help of having the fastest car on the grid. There were not one, not two, but THREE red flags during the race! I could barely keep up with each one happening. With only 12 cars actually making it to the finish line due to one of the most insane red flag restarts we have seen in some time, there was quite a bit to talk about! In this episode, Justin grabs the steering wheel from Sashwat, and drives solo! We'll see you guys sometime before the next race ;) Follow and interact with us on Instagram and Twitter: @f1on1pod Reach out to us: formula1on1pod@gmail.com Hosted by: Justin Lischuk and Sashwat Venkatesh Cover Art: Simi Situ

It's finally over... the 2022 Formula One Season has concluded, and for the 15th time this season, Max Verstappen takes the checkered flag as a race winner! A close call between Charles LeClerc and Sergio Perez to decide P2 in the Drivers' standings, and a whole bunch of midfield battles that led to... nothing? Plus, a discussion of Sebastian Vettel's final race and the impact he's left on the sport. That's a wrap on Mexico! Max secures a record-setting 14th win in a season, and the constructor's battel roars on for the majority of the midfield teams. An otherwise uneventful race included some great overtakes from Daniel Ricciardo, some battles outside of the points, and a much slower than normal Ferrari car! With only two races left in the season, things have really begun to heat up! To say the words that Christian Horner did not get to say, Max Verstappen, you are the world champion! In the most unfortunately anti-climactic way possible, Max Verstappen clinches his second Formula One World Driver's Championship. Unfortunately, circumstances around the weekend prove to cast a gloom over Max's very well deserved title. The show wasn't entirely Max though, as the entire field gave us something to root for in the rain stricken Japanese GP! Keep up with the show on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram @f1on1pod! Justin flies solo in the race review that is the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix. An hour long delay, 6 retirements, two massive constructor overtakes as a result of the race - what more could you ask for! The WDC is yet to be decided, as Max Verstappen had a tough qualifying session, but how did he fare in the race? Checo manages to win his first race since Monaco, what a street circuit merchant! NASCAR reporter Rod Mullins joins "Street Knowledge" to break down the NASCAR Cup Series race in Texas on Sunday, won by Tyler Reddick.
Another race around the Temple of Speed that ended in the slowest way possible... Much to talk about at the end of our post-summer break triple header! Major disappointment for McLaren after a 1-2 here last year, and an all Dutch World Champion 4th row to start the race! Spectacular drives from the prancing horses and silver arrows, but not good enough to best the charging bull driven by Max Verstappen! What a first showing from Nyck de Vries, driving two cars this weekend and matchings Williams best ever result so far this season! Keep up with the show on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram @f1on1pod! It's double Dutch delight as Max Verstappen wins his home Grand Prix for the second year running! More of the same for the first of Max Verstappen's home races! A dominant win storming all the way from P14 to P1 and taking his NINTH win of the 2022 season! Death, taxes, and a Ferrari blunder! What a drive from Max Verstappen who claims his 8th race win of the season after starting from 10th on the grid! How have the narratives shifted going into the summer break? Are Ferrari worthy challengers to Red Bull, or should they focus more on the threat from Mercedes? Are Mercedes in a position to steal P2 in the Constructors' Championship from Ferrari? The Let's Go Racing Family was on location for the 4th time this season...with a trip to the Music City. Summer kicked into high gear, as #NASCAR returned to Nashville, TN.Watch as we take you on the grid, down pit road, inside the garage and hauler area, in Victory Lane and finally watching the action on the track unfold from the grandstands. We endured two weather delays (including rain and lightning) - which ultimately pushed the finish of the race into the evening. Johann would NOT be disappointed as he got to see his favorite driver, Chase Elliott take the Guitar and Checkered Flag. The Let's Go Racing Family #NASHCAR experience didn't end there, as we returned to the track later in the week to record our episode on-location, just outside the main grandstands. Later that evening - for the one day only event, we screened the documentary film, ROWDY, about the Candy Man, himself - Kyle Busch. Naturally, when in Nashville, when you go to the movies, you go the Opry Mills and that's where we gave our review of this film. #LetsGoRacingFamilyPodcast #NASCARpodcast #FamilyPodcast #LetsGoRacingFamily #RacingPodcast #RacingThroughLife #RacePicks #6DegreesofNASCAR #IamNASCAR #NASCARKids #NASHCAR #ROWDYAs always, don't forget to send us your questions or comments: Letsgoracingfamily@gmail.comConnect with the Let's Go Racing Family:Subscribe to the Let's Go Racing Family audio PODCAST: https://www.letsgoracing.family/listen Visit the Let's Go Racing Family WEBSITE: https://letsgoracing.family Like Let's Go Racing Family on FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/LetsGoRacingFamily Follow Let's Go Racing Family on X: https://x.com/letsgoracingfamFollow Let's Go Racing Family on INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/letsgoracingfamily/Follow Let's Go Racing Family on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@letsgoracingfamily
What an amazing afternoon at the home of racing, Silverstone Circuit! A new race winner on the grid, and a feel good story for the home hero Lewis Hamilton.
