Speaker Bio: Kathleen is a self-described storyteller, who believes that everyone has a purpose and a dream and always has had a passion for learning about other people's stories. At a young age, Kathleen's love for travel, music, adventure, and curiosity about people was evident. She would run around her neighborhood with an old tape recorder of her mom's, eager to interview anyone in site, and would spend hours listening to their conversations. Throughout elementary school, her heroes were Anderson Cooper and Lisa Ling who she watched every morning from school on their news show. Kathleen has spent her career speaking with brilliant scientists and engineers across the globe, connecting them to impactful teams. She offers strategic insight to her leadership teams to support long-term growth development and business plans. But if you ask Kathleen what she is the proudest of throughout her career, it would always be the trusted partnerships and collaboration she has built with her people. Reflect and Strengthen: What effort do I make to turn obstacles into opportunities? How can I choose my attitude when faced with challenges? How often am I willing to be vulnerable and uncomfortable to grow? Host: To Rob Maloney, life is about connection and learning through sharing perspectives that sharpen our empathy and empower communities where everyone can thrive together. He's driven to rethink, reshape, and overcome broken notions of differences, disabilities, and fixed limitations while reteaching growth mindset, emotional intelligence, and ownership for the difference that everyday people make with Heart & Hard Work. In spite of and because of all obstacles, his alignment with life's purpose forged a trilingual "learn-it-all" world traveler with 2 master's degrees working at Microsoft, host of the "Heart & Hard Work" podcast, and on November 20th, 2022 he put an exclamation mark to the belief in the power of Heart and Hard Work by finishing his first ever Ironman Triathlon. In this episode of the Impostor Syndrome Files, we talk about the power of pushing through our fears and doing the things that scare us. Many of us stay in our comfort zones and avoid taking risks because we're unsure of the outcome or we don't have a perfect plan yet. But doing that is not neutral. It leads to regret and missed opportunities. My guest this week, Kathleen Taylor, shares how her curiosity and willingness to connect with others has led her in meaningful new directions. We also talk about how we can all get more comfortable not knowing. In this episode, Gail, Catherine and Kathleen discuss the reality that life often does not follow a straight line and derailments can lead to new paths. Kathleen shares her passion for helping adults to continue developing and learning in ways that can be transformative. Kathleen still has a tremendous urge to do things that make a difference—from teaching working professionals in a doctoral program to facilitating workshops for peer tutors at San Quentin prison. Key Take-Aways : Kathleen believes that— We have choices about who we are and who we can be. When we recognize the power of our own minds, and exercise our voices, we can bring about profound changes in our own lives and the world around us. One has no choice but to think about aging—Your mind may say you are a spring chicken, but your body is likely to say otherwise. Keeping doing keeps you going.
