The Knicks worst defensive performance was on full display last night as they dropped their third game in a row and have now gone 0-3 on their first road trip. The Chicago Bulls controlled most of this game, only going down in the early first minutes. What we saw after that could very well be described as an assault in Chicago. The Bulls got whatever they wanted, destroying NY's defense with constant ball movement and attacking that couldn't be stopped. Mike Brown called out the Knicks defense after the game calling it non-existent. Which is appropriate when describing Josh Hart last night as he couldn't be seen doing anything on the court and was benched in the 4th quarter after an extremely rough outing... JALEN BRUNSON WENT OFF! We saw vintage Brunson in NY's final preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets. Jalen Brunson dropped 31 points on the top of the Hornets head while Mikal Bridges continued his dominance during preseason play. The Knicks bench helped out a lot with McBride & Shamet finally finding the range from 3 and playing incredible defense. But it was the play from the Knicks young players Mohamed Diawara and Trey Jemison III that really stole the show and gave Knick fans a glimpse into the future... The Knicks won Game 2 on the road with another 20-point comeback as Celtics' shooting went cold, a "double punch" according to Gio. Knicks are undefeated on the road in the playoffs but have home losses heading back to MSG. Jerry's update included Kevin Harlan's call, Josh Hart on doing "little things," Mitchell Robinson feeling like a threat, and Charles Barkley wanting a night game for the Knicks on Saturday. We also heard MSG fan chants about Boston. Elsewhere, the Thunder scored 149 to even their series with the Nuggets, the Yankees won in the 10th after being no-hit into the seventh, and Juan Soto hit two homers in the Mets' win. Gio recounted his near miss at playing in the Creators Classic. The hour ended with Knicks fan calls.

Vincent Goodwill is joined by James Edwards III, who writes for The Athletic about the New York Knicks and who previously worked the Detroit Pistons beat. The guys talk Knicks, Pistons, NBA Hall of Fame and Seattle's basketball future. (06:55) - NBA inducts superfans into the Hall of Fame(16:35) - Seattle shows why it's ready to bring back the Sonics(20:15) - Knicks building around Jalen Brunson(48:15) - Can Cade Cunningham make the leap? On this episode of the Good Word with Goodwill, Yahoo Sports senior NBA reporter Vincent Goodwill is joined by James Edwards III, who writes for The Athletic about the New York Knicks and who previously worked the Detroit Pistons beat. The guys start by talking about the Detroit Lions (who beat the Cowboys yesterday) and the Detroit Tigers (who didn't make it to the ALCS) before wondering why the NBA is inducting Jack Nicholson, Spike Lee and Billy Crystal into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The Los Angeles Clippers, at the behest of owner Steve Ballmer, once again played a preseason game in Seattle and showed how much support for the NBA exists in that city. James tells stories about his time in Seattle and Vinnie talks about how adding Seattle and Las Vegas to the NBA could reshape the conferences. With James here, the guys deep-dive into the very interesting New York Knicks. James explains what he doesn't love about the trades for Karl Anthony-Towns and Mikal Bridges, why he considers Tom Thibodeau to be one of the three best coached in the NBA and the guys discuss whether building a championship team around a player as short as Jalen Brunson might not be a great idea. Finally, James has left the Pistons beat behind but he still has plenty of thoughts on the organization and its young players, including making the case for Cade Cunningham to be an all-star this season. We made it through January, the first of the three ‘death months' according to Gio. Boomer will be back tomorrow from Vegas, so today it's Gio and Jerry. We talked about The Athletic article about the Jets that came out yesterday during the show. Assistant Jets GM Rex Hogan was let go yesterday which really makes it seem like they think he could be one of the leaks to the media. Sources in the article are calling Joe Douglas the ‘assistant GM' and Aaron Rodgers the actual GM of the team. Jerry said this is a ‘prove it' season for the Jets. C-Lo is here for his first update of the day but first Gio wonders if Al will have a good time at the actual Super Bowl game. Kevin Durant got a tribute video in his return to Brooklyn. The Knicks go for their ninth win tonight at MSG against the Pacers. Brandon Tierney said of Robert Saleh, ‘why is he still the coach?' Shaun Morash said, ‘this guy sucks'. In the final segment of the hour, new Panthers head coach Dave Canales wrote a book with his wife a few years back detailing his porn and alcohol addiction.
The fellas are back to talk a little NBA and a little NFL. From the final count on the Head Coaching hires, to the legacy of Mahomes, to how far the Villanova Wildcats can go, we discuss it all and more. Enjoy and hit ya free throws!
