One big shoe left to drop for the Raptors is if they intend to trade away Pascal Siakam in a similar fashion and what they would be looking for in return if they did. After running through some fake trades for Siakam, Blake explains why he is happy the Raptors targeted Immanuel Quickley, who has the potential to end up as the best player in this deal and will see a lot more time on the court in Toronto than he did in New York.RJ Barrett was the 3rd pick in the NBA Draft behind Zion Williamson and Ja Morant. He's still only 23 years old. So why was he talked about recently as a “toxic asset” and how will he fit in with his hometown Toronto Raptors?Dan is looking to find out which opinion of OG Anunoby is the right one. Is he overrated or underrated? Blake Murphy explains that it depends on context and the goals of the team that he's on, making it sound like the Knicks found exactly the right player for their team. Will they make another move before the trade deadline or wait until the offseason to swing for the fences? The Raptors are building their team around Scottie Barnes, and adding Quickley to their offense should afford him more spacing to work with. 0:00 ... Hello and Welcome .... Episode #83 is dedicated to Mikal Bridges and Ross Geiger explains why. 0:37 ... Live commercial read for Bet Online 1:12 ... Bruce's opening comment is on Steve Kerr's complaint that the Warriors lack grit, but Bruce feels the Warriors' biggest issue is the fact that the young guns around the league have caught up to the aging 'Dubs. 2:54 ... World B's opening comment deals with the fact that teams that can't make three-point shots can't win in today's NBA. 5:47 ... Ross' opening comment is on Senator Herbert Kohl, the former Milwaukee owner who saved basketball in Milwaukee by buying the team and then selling it to owners who promised to keep the team in Milwaukee. Ross' life was personally touched by Senator Kohl. 9:20 ... Bruce tells his own Herbert Kohl story about watching a Bucks/Celtics game with the Bucks owner in 2012 and what that was like. 11:57 ... The Knicks and Raptors made a five player deal that was headlined by OG Anunoby becoming a Knick. The crew examined Anunoby's expected impact for New York. 14:27 ... Bruce shares his thoughts on OG and how he's in a contract year and it will be up to his teammates to make sure he gets quality scoring opportunities in order to keep him motivated to play the type of defense he is expected to play. 16:39 ... Ross praises Anunoby's defensive skills and reminds us that he was a member of the 2019 NBA Champion Raptors. 17:26 ... World B shares some numbers from OG's first game for the Knicks and points out that his three point shooting is most effective from the corners. 19:00 ... Ross explains why Anunoby's corner 3's are a great fit with Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle who operate mostly in the paint and at the elbows. 19:50 ... Ross and World B discuss why they feel that Precious Achiewa is a significant addition for the Knicks. 22:40 ... Bruce likes Achiewa's versatility but doesn't feel he will be an effective rim protector at the center position. 24:02 ... Bruce thinks Barrett will face less scrutiny in Toronto from the media, but might face more distractions from family and friends in his hometown. 25:25 ... World B admits that he was down on Barrett and called him "a shooting guard who can't shoot." 27:15 .... Ross changes the topic to Immanuel Quickley and everyone expects him to do well in Canada. Bruce feels that IQ and Coach Thibodeau were never really on the same page, and now that he's in Toronto, he could break out in a way similar to Tyrese Maxey in Philasdelphia. 28:56 ... Ross wonders how badly it hurt World B to see Quickley leave and World explains how he felt. 31:00 ... The second round pick the Raptors received from the Knicks is much more significant because it is really Detroit's pick. Bruce likes the way Toronto is going about its rebuild. 33:56 ... Ross feels like the Raptors have won this trade. World B feels that "any team that acquired Barrett" lost the trade. 35:31 ... Everyone is impressed with the Oklahoma City Thunder who defeated the Celtics on Monday night. Shai Gilgeous Alexander is the leader of this group. SGA was Ross' preseason MVP choice. 39:23 ... Bruce praises the cohesive nature of the Thunder team and points out all of the areas where they are among the league leaders. 41:02 ... World B doesn't feel that OKC needs to make any moves at this time. Everyone discusses the great free throw shooting by the Thunder. 43:02 ... Bruce explains why Chet Holmgren has been such a game changer for OKC. 43:36 ...The Pacers and Bucks hate each other's guts .... isn't it great? 45:13 ... World B praises the historically great stretch that Tyrese Haliburton is currently enjoying. 46:26 .... Bruce reminds us about Giannis Antetokounmpo's continued dominance against Indiana. 47:45 ... Ross loves that Bucks' enemy Haliburton is a Wisconsin native. 48:18 ... Ross' Best Bets for Wednesday include a same game parlay. 49:39 ... In his closing comment, Bruce recaps the wild week the Detroit Pistons just endured. 51:33 ... World B praises Tyrese Haliburton for his continued brilliance including back to back 20 point/20 assist games. 53:38 ... Ross's final thought has to do with the Raptors and whether they should keep dealing, including Pascal Siakam. 54:49 ... Ross says goodbye TRT 55:04

Vinnie knows Tom Thibodeau, and he says Anunoby is a perfect player for Thibs' system. After talking about the trade, and maybe a little bit about the College Football Playoff and the end of the Cowboys-Lions NFL game, Vinnie gets some help from Producer John in handing out New Year's resolutions to some of the most interesting teams in the NBA this season. What should the Pistons be looking for after a disastrous 2023 season? How can the Lakers be bad on offense when they have LeBron James and Anthony Davis? Is there finally reason for optimism in Chicago? Can the Nuggets repeat? Is it time to believe in the Clippers? Is it too much for the Mavericks to depend on a 19-year old rookie to be the backbone of their defense? We go through all of these questions and attempt to answer them in a fun episode that bounces around the NBA.Check out the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

It's a NEW YEAR! There's lots of promise, excitement and a renewed sense of faith as yours truly has big plans for the upcoming year when it comes to the podcast, as I deliver the very first one on the first day of 2024. On deck: (3:03) A new year has arrived as I'm excited about where the podcast is going and what it will have to offer in 2024. You'll have to keep your fingers on the pulse and stay tuned to find out what to expect here as I've got a lot coming up the pike, especially during this first quarter of the year. So you won't want to miss out on this news. (5:13) With just one week to go in the regular season, the Baltimore Ravens are showing the rest of the NFL that they could be the team to beat when it's all said and done. They destroyed the Miami Dolphins in a 56-19 drubbing yesterday at home. Is this team on the fast track to winning a Super Bowl? On the flip side, I'll discuss how the Dolphins have fallen pretty far from being a top team in the league, but now have to fight tooth and nail to win a division come Sunday vs. the Bills. There was some big time controversy in Dallas on Saturday night as it looked like the Lions were going to walk out of AT&T Stadium with a big road win. Instead, a terrible call by the officials on the winning two-point conversion ended up being incomplete after a few tries as the Cowboys sweat out a one point win. What has happened to the Philadelphia Eagles? They were defeated by the Arizona Cardinals in what turned out to be a death knell for the Eagles. Can they rebound in time to have a long playoff run? I'll discuss my beloved Steelers chances to see if they can get one of the final playoff spots in the AFC. I'll go over all that went down in Week 17, unpack all of the playoff possibilities as we head into the final weekend of the NFL regular season. (42:32) College football will have their last four game playoff as Alabama will face Michigan in the first game, where the nightcap will see Texas-Washington square off. I'll preview both games and who may possibly meet in the National Championship next Monday night in Houston. (49:26) Break up the Detroit Pistons. They finally break a lengthy 28 game losing streak against the Raptors on Saturday night. Is it possible that they can avoid the worst NBA record during an 82 game regular season in history? There was a surprise trade as the Knicks & Raptors exchanged players with OG Anunoby going to NY and RJ Barrett & Immanuel Quickley moving North of the Border. I'll take a peek on what else has transpired in the Association over the weekend. (56:22) Every January 1st, the NHL showcases the Winter Classic which'll be played in Seattle with the Vegas Golden Knights coming to T-Mobile Park. Is there a lot of interest from the casual or good sports fan? The Rangers have been hot in the Metropolitan Division as they're the first team to get to 50 points so far this season. (58:12) The Atlanta Braves continue to procure talent this offseason, doing their best to keep pace with what the Dodgers have done to this point. They've acquired former Red Sox ace Chris Sale for INF Vaughn Grissom. Is this a huge risk with the oft-injured Sale over the past few years? Welcome to THE Sports Law Podcast! We keep you informed on everything at the intersection of sports and the law. Dan (@SportsLawLust), and Zach (@ZacharySBryson) dissect some of the major developments in the Sports Law world over the past week. First, the duo discuss the NFL's recently announced investigation of the Cincinnati Bengals and their apparent violation of the NFL's Injury report, and the possibility disgruntled bettors have at successfully suing the Bengals for their bets placed "before" Joe Burrow was hurt. After examining these allegations, the two then discuss a class action lawsuit which has been filed in the wake of the inaugural Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix--and whether the lawsuit is likely to succeed. Next, the apparent "sign stealing" involving Connor Stalions and Michigan's Football program has had surprising new developments, signaling more troubling news for the Michigan Football program. Dan and Zach then cover some of the updates in the Raptors and Knicks trade secret case, and whether or not the case is likely to stay in federal court, or if the NBA Constitution requires that the dispute be arbitrated by Adam Silver. --- Have a topic you want to write about?
