Whether through her roles as a TV reporter or the former unofficial first lady of Canada, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has met kings and queens, presidents, first ladies, major celebrities, all of whom, she says, have inspired her to become a passionate advocate for mental health. As a teenager, Sophie suffered from a serious eating disorder and it was only after she went public with her private battle that everything changed. “...When I talked about my eating disorders, it was 20 years ago, and nobody was talking about it. But in the past 5 years, I think there's been an exponential growth curve, and how we talk about mental health, and also massive investments in mental health, because people are realizing that it's a true crisis…”To learn about Sophie and her new book, Closer Together, Knowing Ourselves, Loving Each Other, go to her website, SophieGregoireTrudeau.comBe the first to know of new episodes by subscribing to this show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. We envolved finding food, seeking shelter, not getting eaten. Now we have way more while doing so much less. Yet we NEED to be challenged in order to continue to evolve. We satisfy the drive of life testing our metal stepping out to fulfill our purpose. For the Japeanese style sword, as in life, the veracity of value is in our steel. The process from raw bar to beautiful finished katana is complex. The making of katana takes exertion and sweat. If you are not willing to do the work there won't be a katana. In every phase are truths for us, to understand what shapes us, to live our path., to release what does not serve us, to transform our lives, and live in our significance. We can feel pressured. We can feel like it's all going up in flames. Failure only happens when we drop the work and walk away. All else are the challenges required to live the life we envision. The steps to create a katana also lead us to authenticity and abundance. Trust in the framework. Trust in the process. Trust in yourself. You will create that magnificent, highly functional work of art that is your significant life. Watch live on Facebook. www.facebook.com/transformationtalkradio/

Joining us for today's episode is Garret Kramer. Garret has had a life long association with athletic performance, beginning as a varsity hockey player at his secondary school in Montclair, New Jersey. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in 1984 from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he played collegiate hockey, competing in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. In 1995 Garret founded his organization called Inner Sports, LLC. For over 25 years, he has provided consulting services for athletes, coaches, actors, and business leaders. Today we're bringing you the final episode of the current series and taking a look back at some to the topics we've discussed over the last year, asking how we can put what we've learned into practice. HOW DO WE FEEL ABOUT THE GOOD FAIL NOW THAT WE'RE 3 SERIES IN?  We've discussed a wide range of topics over the last three series and in our current times The Good Fail feels like an important source to draw from. HOW CAN THAT GOOD FAIL TOOL BOX HELP US WITH LIKE THE WORLD BASICALLY ENDING? We've not always taken our own advice on this podcast but unlearning PERFECTION and practicing PERSEVERANCE is a good place to start.  WHAT OTHER TOOLS DO WE HAVE IN OUR BOX? We talk through what we've learned about OWNING IT, RESILIENCE and KNOWING OURSELVES to better help ourselves grow and change more effectively.  DOESN'T THAT SOUND LIKE A LOT OF EFFORT? It's always going to be one step at a time. Finding POSITIVITY and remembering the alchemical process of NEGREDO might help. CAN POSITIVITY REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT A TIME LIKE THIS? Our situation won't change but our perspective on our situation will. While the world seems to be going through it's own NEGREDO process we've also found GRATITUDE a powerful tool to staying present. WHAT CAN WE CONCLUDE ON ALL THIS? We can definitely, 100% succeed at doing The Good Fail during a world wide pandemic by adjusting our EXPECTATIONS, being kind, GENEROUS and FORGIVING to ourselves and others. WHAT'S OUR RECOMMENDATION FOR THIS WEEK? Use the links in our shownotes to revisit all our previous recommendations and subscribe to the Good Fail podcast to listen from the beginning.  SUPPORT THE SHOW You can become an official supporter of the show by joining our Good Fail club on Patreon. The first foundational principle of the Serena system is knowing who we are. None of these methods of achieving optimal physical and psychological well being really work sustainably until we can begin to grasp this concept of self, non-self, or levels of consciousness. Training and practice (like meditation and mindfulness) are essential but they aren’t enough. We have to understand why we are practicing, where we want to go with the practice and, perhaps most importantly, we have to have faith that it will work. So today, we are going to revisit the principle of Knowing Ourselves but rather than using an apartment building or the idea of levels of consciousness, we are going to explore three other frameworks for talking about who we really are: One, Chakras, Two, Personification, and Three, States of Being. In the last two episodes, we covered the first three principles in the Serena system: Knowing Ourselves, Taking Responsibility, and Moving our Awareness. In this episode, we cover the fourth principle: Trust, Train & Test. We have to have faith that an end to suffering is possible, we have to do the training to change the neuronal structure of our brain to support that state, and we have to check to verify that our faith and training are actually making a difference in our lives. These three are all inter-related and in tension with each other so we can cluster them together and as we work on one we can be mindful of the other two. John the Baptist was primarily John "the Witness." He was sent by God to prepare the way for Jesus, to point others to Christ. As we learn from his example, the way we point others to Jesus is by knowing who we are and knowing who he is.
