In this latest episode of WTiN's Textile Innovation podcast, we speak with Shivam Gusain water engineer, dyestuff chemist and LCA analyst, about his work in LCAs and problem solving within the textile industry.Gusain is also the founder of Decypher, a consultancy service for the industry. He delves into problems surrounding decarbonisation and circularity within the textile supply chain, with a sharp focus on textile dyeing and finishing. Additionally, Gusain talks at length about how some innovations can be misrepresented when they are marketed to the industry and public. He does present solutions that he strongly believes could be real game changers in the future, including his financial model, which has recently been launched (8 September). Marc Malusis passionately warned against dyeing your hair, recalling a personal experience where a professional dye job left him with a complex and a very obvious, unnatural shade. He explained that a well-meaning hairstylist convinced him to try it, promising a good result. However, the outcome was an immediate, embarrassing reaction from a colleague who pointed out the "obvious" change. Malusis concluded that the attempt to hide his graying hair was a mistake, and it is better to embrace the natural signs of aging rather than attempt a cover-up that will ultimately make you feel worse.

Cam Jordan is back in the NFL Media podcast studio in Los Angeles, joined by Super Bowl Champion and Thursday Night Football analyst Andrew Whitworth. The two go head-to-head on whether offensive linemen deserve their own individual award, with Whitworth making the case for the big men in the trenches. He also shares a behind-the-scenes story from the night he won Walter Payton Man of the Year, including a last-minute scramble and how a police escort through L.A. traffic got them to the show barely in time. Cam and Whit then break down why they’re not fans of the potential “tush push” ban and explain why the Eagles continue to dominate with it. Whitworth also reflects on his recent induction into the East West Shrine Bowl Hall of Fame and what it means to be selected for enshrinement into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame this June, crediting his roots in Monroe, Louisiana. Plus, he shares the time he almost lost his friendship with Ryan Fitzpatrick… over dyeing his beard! BEST OF TST: The FDA is finally admitting that red and yellow food dyes are poison and should be removed from the food supply while parents and family argue the candy and treats they feed their kids make them happy so what's the big deal. Well, they contribute to hyperactivity, hypersensitivity, cancer, and on a deep spiritual level, alongside other things we call food, interfere with our bodily mechanisms for connecting with the physical and spiritual worlds. One of the greatest conspiracies is the multi-faceted health fraud being perpetrated on the public from the grocery store and doctor's office, to the media and regulatory agencies. Undercover video shows an FDA executive admitting they are paid hundreds of millions to hire rubber stamps sponsored by the very industry being regulated: drugs, food, etc. It is also becoming a trend now for ‘influencers' to make short videos pointing out chemicals, unnecessary colors, and preservatives in processed food. But only a keen observer will notice that most of these videos involve the trashing of one company over another in a bid to drive the viewer to an equally processed product. In other words, a company pays an influencer to expose a competitor while the whole thing seems organic. This has happened with coke and Kraft, and Pfizer and Moderna. Politicians are likewise hired to play hero in a fight against drug companies that finance that representative's campaign, which is then used to support the company when they make it into congress. -FREE ARCHIVE (w. ads)SUBSCRIPTION ARCHIVEX / TWITTER FACEBOOKWEBSITECashApp: $rdgable EMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/tst-radio--5328407/support.

I've been making “rope” with French Knitter and about halfway done. Plan to make a hat and chalk bag. Found tiny carabiners online. Graphito: by Heidemarie Kaizer. Using Purls Before Swine Robusta in colorways Good Jeans (blue) and Toxic (pink). I finished the yoke and divided for the sleeves. I've knit about an inch of the body but I'm going to wash and block the yoke to be sure it fits and the patterning looks good. Ames Beanie: Stephanie Larson. Using Purls Before Swine Hometown Worsted in colorway Seaglass. I was about to start the decreases when I noticed I had crossed one of the cables the wrong way. I need to rip back. Socks: Using Regia 4-fadig by Arne & Carlos in colorway 03760. Finished first sock. Weaving Studio: I got the warping board back from Kim and everyday plan to wind the warp for four tea towels. Too much Thanksgiving preparation so I didn't get anything done. Maybe today?? Kelly's Projects The woven squares blanket is almost finished! All the squares are sewn together and I just have a few more ends to weave in. Debating a crochet border edging. Suint Bath Shetland Project is finished. The two skeins are almost identical. The one that was spun greasy is slightly finer. I think it is easier for a default yarn to be spun thinner when spinning in the grease. But it puffs up when washed and I don't think the skeins are any more different than any two handspun skeins. They could easily be used together in the same project with no problem. Fleece prep: Dyeing and carding the 2018 CVM. I've been putting batches in the crockpot with random dyeing while I do other things out in the yard. I've also been carding intermittently and have quite a few batts through their first round. Got down to the back ribbing on the Maple Vest. I won't have enough yarn. Trying to decide what to do. Pattern repeat on the ribbing gives me limited choices for shortening. Winter Weave Along Going until March 31. Show us your projects in the Ravelry thread. If you aren't on Ravelry consider joining just so you can talk with us about your weaving! Challenge: Between now and January 1 do a kind of weaving that you haven't done before. Possibilities: New to you weave structure, different form of loom, make something you never thought of making before, e.g. decorative braids or shoe laces, use a fiber you haven't used before, use a wet finishing method you haven't used before. End 2024 with a new weaving skill.

Matthew week 74 Matthew 11:28 ESV 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:29-30 ESV 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 12:1-2 ESV At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.” Genesis 2:2-3 ESV Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. 3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. Exodus 20:8-11 ESV 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Exodus 31:12-17 ESV 12 And the Lord said to Moses, 13 “You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you. 14 You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death. 16 Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant forever.17 It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.'” Deuteronomy 23:24-25 ESV 24 “If you go into your neighbor's vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes, as many as you wish, but you shall not put any in your bag. 25 If you go into your neighbor's standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor's standing grain. 1.Carrying 2. What does the Bible say about dyeing hair? Is it a sin to dye your hair? Should Christians have their hair dyed?
Felicia Lo spent most of her college years wearing a lot of black. The bright, happy color combinations that she loved as a child—lime green and hot pink, pink and yellow—didn't fit other people's idea of what colors went together, so she avoided wearing colors altogether. It took years to begin introducing color into her wardrobe again. As handdyeing began its groundswell in the early 2000s, Felicia began experimenting with dyeing fiber and then yarn. As it turned out, fiber artists across the world thought that her color sense was not only acceptable but irresistible. What began as a casual project in 2005 has grown into a company with a dozen staff members, hundreds of colorways, and a roster of yarn and fiber bases. Yet despite the company's larger scale, each skein or braid of fiber is still prepared, colored, rinsed, and packaged by hand. Maintaining consistency in their very handmade product has meant transforming SweetGeorgia from her initial solo project into a team effort, with staff members collaborating on new colors and initiatives. Felicia published her book Dyeing to Spin & Knit in 2017, with techniques for fiber artists to choose colors, apply them effectively, and use their handdyed creations. That same year, she founded the School of SweetGeorgia to offer online classes and community, first in handdyeing and later in knitting, spinning, weaving, and other fiber arts. Although her fiber-arts practices stretch from spinning to crochet, tapestry, machine knitting, and weaving, Felicia always has a knitting project on the needles . . . and these days, it's almost certainly not black. More of our conversation with Felicia, including what's on her needles and her suggestions on how to choose yarn colors for a knitting project how to choose the right yarn structure for a knitted project, is available in the library (https://farmfiberknits.com/library/CxLIBUXRRtOoXdNqgvPh_Q) for subscribers to Farm & Fiber Knits. However, over the past decade, Kurt has also been a passionate advocate for men's health and suicide prevention. Recognized by his signature beard, Kurt has decided to use this distinctive feature for a meaningful purpose. Every dollar contributed during his October campaign serves as a vote to determine the colors he will dye his beard with throughout the entire month of November, often referred to as "Movember." This creative initiative transforms Kurt into a walking advertisement for critical men's health issues. Kurt's achievements have gained him recognition on an international salon blog, where he was showcased alongside men from various parts of the world. When she married her husband, "polyester kid" Anita Luvera Mayer received an extraordinary wedding gift from her mother-in-law: a loom and weaving lessons. A weaving store owner, Marcelle Mayer gave the same gift to each of her daughters-in-law. The others didn't take to it, but for Anita it was the beginning of a whole new life. Although she preferred making simple cloth to complex patterns, weaving opened the doors to meeting other fiber artists, teaching across North America, and learning to make her own clothes, beginning with a "pukey green dress" that she wore for years and kept as a teaching tool. Exploring new techniques and refining her approach, she championed the revolutionary idea that women—all women—should like what they see when they look in the mirror. Anita Luvera Mayer is an inspiration . . . and a delight. This episode was originally released in 2021.
