Dr. Barry Corey, President of Biola University, discusses what kindness is according to the Bible and what it can look like on a practical level. Barry shares how his dad modeled a life of being receivable to others, and he also talks about the importance of having a firm center (theological convictions) with soft edges (kindness). “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”Psalm 23:1-6 KJVToday is my birthday just say a word of prayer for me, and let us learn to be good to each other!!

Tenderness, gentleness, and compassion pervading our very being and other beings. He is learning to suspend judgement and somehow has found in his heart the ability to call Putin his brother. Cultivating Compassion: The Daily Practice Of Love And Kindness—Metta is a Pali word that means "loving-kindness" or "positive energy." which is a traditional Buddhist concept that involves acting with compassion towards all sentient beings while also being aware of the natural world. It's also a way to avoid samsara and rebirth and develop perfect love for all others. Metta is sometimes translated as "universal friendliness" to emphasize the impersonal nature of the affection generated, free from any desire or expectation of return. Happiness Is the Path

Sermons Archive RSS Ephesians 4:25 - 32 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. 26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil. 28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.Titus 3:1-7 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle showing all humility to all men. 3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.Hebrews 12:14-15 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;James 1:19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers,For they shall be called sons of God.Proverbs 12:18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword,Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.Matthew 18:32-34 “Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.

As we look at how we process reality, we have to talk about the mechanisms that we have to put in place to help us recover, who we truly are. Three aspects of the mechanisms that we need to use are love, kindness, and awareness. Those three things are linked to how we produce, and how we discover our true self.
Love, kindness and awareness, the three essential aspects of finding authentic self

What happens when a simple act of chalk doodling turns into a full-fledged mission to spread joy during difficult times? Meet my guest, the delightful Laurie Olesen, who used her talent for chalk artistry to brighten up driveways and in turn, lives during the pandemic. A whimsical mushroom, uplifting messages for a hospital-ridden boy, a birthday cake for a party-cancelled little girl - her chalk art repertoire is as diverse as it is heartwarming. The community's response to Laurie's call for more driveways to spread her art was undeniably overwhelming, earning Laurie the affectionate nickname, the Epic Chalk Lady.As we journey through the ups and downs of her chalk art adventure, we discover the artistic evolution that turned a hobby into a full-time endeavor. Beyond chalk art, she also ventured into rock painting and gnome hunting. Laurie's resilience amid the chalk shortage of 2021 and her discovery of artist's chalk, which allowed for more intricate designs, are testament to her dedication. Her story would be incomplete without the mention of Laurie's husband, whose support for her creative escapades speaks volumes about the power of love and understanding. Finally, as we wrap this episode, we take a moment to reflect on the transformative power of kindness. With over 400 chalk drawings to her credit, all done for free, Laurie exemplifies generosity and selflessness in its purest form. Let her story serve as a reminder of the profound impact of rooting for others and encouraging them to believe in themselves. Tune in to this heartwarming episode, and you'll leave inspired to spread a little more kindness in your corner of the world. As always, if you have your own story of kindness you would like to share, or just want to connect, you can do that here.Support the show

Love, Kindness, Forgiveness, Compassion Do not take this moment for granted to be just like Christ. Are we displaying the fruit of the Spirit? Let us take a look at how we are treating people. Psalm 15:1-2 “LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.” I John3:11-18 “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tasha-mack9/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tasha-mack9/support

“To the world you may be one person; But to one person you may be the world.” ~ Dr. Seuss. We never really know the difference we can make in another person's life by simply pausing long enough to listen. We also never know how we might be spurred to action once we recognize there is a need to be met. On this episode, I visit with Stephanie Smith (who I lovingly call Aunt Steph). Stephanie is a wife, mom of triplets, career woman & animal lover that calls Montgomery, Alabama home. She is also one of my dearest friends & greatest cheerleaders. We unpack how one decision my mom, Pam, made many years ago led to a beautiful friendship that has richly blessed our entire family. It's a story that began due to hardship, and there have been many life lessons learned along the way. While we never wish hardship on those we love, if it hadn't been for that hardship early on in my Aunt Steph's life- the story shared on this episode wouldn't exist. The story continues to unfold decades later- filled to the brim with endless amounts of support, love & kindness. I'm forever changed because of it & grateful I get to be part of it. I pray this episode encourages you to slow down, love harder, be kind, laugh more, give the gift of time to those who matter most, make memories & share those stories. I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel like I lost at least an hour of sleep last night, maybe more! I just tried to make coffee without water in the coffee maker. I was taking my pills and cautiously tried to remember which ones were chewable and which ones weren't. I'm going to need clear and straightforward instructions this morning, and then I'm going to need a nap! Thankfully, we're in Micah 6:8 today. It doesn't get more clear and more straightforward than that verse! Micah answers the question for us, "What is good, and what does the Lord require of you?" Cut through all the confusion, Micah! We've all had a rough night! Please give it to us in simple language we can understand! And then Micah delivers. In this one straightforward verse, we find more than a picture of what it means to be faithful; we find the image of Jesus, the one who has faithfully loved us. Today, of all days, we need simple and straightforward. We need Micah 6:8. And then we need a nap.
