Ken and Betsey review over five years of Beach Talks as Ken posts the podcast's 400th episode. Three friends check in to celebrate -  Darcy McKenzie, Osahon Obazuaye, and Ken Fong. Betsey, a Chicago resident, shares some of her experience this month spending three delightful weeks in Tuscon - the Arizona Desert. Ken and Betsey then compare notes on the new administration's first two weeks in power. It's been a firehose of headlines, including those controversial cabinet appointments, an avalanche of executive orders, bizarre explanations (for Southern California fires and then those terrible plane crashes), targeted attacks on D.E.I., inflationary tariffs, trade wars, and plans to absorb Canada, Mexico, Panama, Greenland, and now Gaza under America's domain. Elon Musk takes the axe to congressionally mandated programs. Oh - don't forget - it's now “The Gulf of America” and “Mt. McKinley.” Predictions of the imposition of the feared Project 2025 (which the then-candidate for President claimed he knew nothing about) turn out to be way understated. Turns out, it was a detailed script for these first two weeks. The President and his supporters said they would “drain the swamp,” but it looks more like Steve Bannon's colorful prediction - that on Day One, Trump would “flood the zone with sh*t.” Ken and Betsey commit to keep this podcast and their Beach Talks going - we need each other now more than ever.Become a Patron | Ken's Substack PageSupport the show

In today's episode, Liz explains the latest theory about why President Joe Biden didn't pardon himself. Is he going to take the fall for Hunter and the rest of the rotten Bidens? Then, Liz explains why deporting illegal aliens is the Christian thing to do, no matter what leftists say. Liz also reveals the brilliance of President Donald Trump's “shock and awe” campaign and why the GOP's reaction to it shows that he is 100% in control of the Republican Party. And Trump has had a whirlwind of a first week — but do you know why he changed the name from Denali to Mt. McKinley? Why is he so concerned with the Gulf of America? Is he serious about retaking the Panama Canal and buying Greenland? Well, yes, Trump is, and it all has to do with Russia and China. He defied all odds, and with his never give-up attitude, became the first cancer survivor to climb the highest elevation on all the 7 summits: Mt Everest, Mt McKinley, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, Cartensz Pyramid, Elbrus, and Vinson. He also, trekked the North and South Poles and finished the Hawaii Ironman, all with one functioning lung. VK0EK Expedition to Heard Island - 2016

Gavin Marshall, VK2BAX Born in Nelson New Zealand I re-ignited my interest in the outdoors approx. 15 years ago trekking in the Tararua Ranges north of Wellington, New Zealand. And from that simple beginning I've been pursuing outdoor adventure opportunities when and wherever I can.Several years as a volunteer in the Wellington Search and Rescue organisation, a period as the National SAR Treasurer and also time training a wilderness search dog ensured I maximised my time in the outdoors. In January 2009 I moved to Sydney with my wife and son where I renewed my involvement with the local Search and Rescue organisation. I'm currently a member of the NSW Bush Walkers Rescue Squad and Vertical Rescue team. In 2011 two close friends and I attempted an independent climb of Mt McKinley in Alaska. After a week of holding out in camp 3 for weather on the summit to clear we were forced to descend. I'm not someone to take defeat easily and that descent became the trigger for me to set a personal goal of climbing the 7 summits. To date I've reached the summit of - * Mt Kosciusko, Australia (2,228m) * Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa (6,895m) * Mt Aconcagua, South America (6,982m) * Mt Elbrus, Europe (5,642m) In May 2014 I made a return to Mt McKinley. Once again I was knocked back by the weather. I reached high camp at 17,200 feet before once again being forced to descend. 2014 has been a busy year for me, 10 months off work to travel and continue chasing my 7 summits goal along with a period of volunteer work in Kampala, Uganda. I'm now back in Sydney, using my skills as an Accountant and Project Manager to install ERP business solutions. As fate would have it I have secured a role on a project based in Port Moresby - Papua New Guinea. I'm sure there's an adventure to be had somewhere in the mountains of PNG! I hold amateur radio licence VK2BAX. Source: https://vk0ek.org/the-team/

we talked about payback, and stuffAlso, since the Call of Cthulhu game was not recorded I will type out a summary below.see, right below!  The year is 1931, and our heroes were mountain climbers in a race to the summit of Mt McKinley. There were three teams: Blank and Sunsweet, IBeforeE and StrikingYak, and Oatgan and myself. There was prize money involved, because the United States government needed heroes to inspire people during the Great Depression.  The night before climbing, they discovered a local team of three brothers had set out before them and already had a day's head start, not to be outdone by outsiders. There were two main paths up the mountain: the difficult climb and the easier climb. Oatgan and I decided on the more difficult climb while everyone else took the easy path.  Minutes into our climb, we encountered one of the brothers. He was crazed and snowblind, attacking anything that moved, including us. He was taken down with a rifle shot, and we were unfazed - hey, we rolled well. The rest of the climb before we reached the cloud line was mostly uneventful, except for Blank and Sunsweet finding a dead body. It was the second brother, his head being attached by a thread and one arm completely missing. IBeforeE and StrikingYak decided this would be a great opportunity to get ahead of Blank and Sunsweet. The real fun started at the overhang and Wickersham's Wall. We all encountered VERTIGINOUS HORRORS!! Nine foot worms the size of tree trunks that scale mountains with nightmarish speed were now on the hunt. I took one out by digging my axe into it, jumping off the mountain, and letting go of the axe while praying my partner Oatgan had anchored the rope. At Wickersham's Wall the climbers were met with a Vertiginous Horror, and then a second, and then a third... The teams split up in an effort to not get eaten or knocked off the mountain.  As we are all nearing the top, Oatgan and I encounter the beginnings of a storm. I succumb to the elements and collapse, forcing Oatgan to carry my unconscious body to the nearest shelter, which was a nearby cave with a totally-not-suspicious blue light emanating from it. On the other side of the mountain, IBeforeE and StrikingYak find dozens of the Vertiginous Horrors and IBeforeE gets the idea to cause an avalanche and anchor himself to try and clear the way. Somehow, this works and they find their way to a totally-not-suspicious cave.   Inside the cave, shit happens.-Yak kills me with a grenade, while Oatgan sneaks away- Blank and Sunsweet enter the cave last, and discover Niel and Yak covered in my gore- Oatgan, after sneaking back, shoots IBeforeE and blows his head clean off, and reaches the summit first- The last brother is found at the summit, his wrists slit and his body frozen.- I forget why, but Blank stabs Sunsweet in the throat- Yak uses IBeforeE's corpse like a sled and rides down the mountain and makes it to the bottom first, claiming prize money and fame. I did not prepare for this, but fuck it I can roll with it.- Blank and Oatgan partner up because they are the last two people left on the mountain, so they investigate the mysterious blue light inside the cave.  Inside the cave, they find the walls and ceiling absolutely covered with the vertiginous horrors and in the center of the room is an obsidian obelisk above a pool of what looks like motor oil. They decide to dive into the pool, and come out on the other side. In front of them is an alien world populated entirely by the vertiginous horrors. Out of place stars and the planet Earth are in the night sky, and there appears to be no discernible way to get back to the mountain.Hope you enjoyed the read and sorry you couldn't listen. This was definitely the most fun session yet!
