The Lake Bodom murders is one of the most infamous unsolved homicide cases in Finnish criminal history.On 5 June 1960, at Lake Bodom in Espoo, Uusimaa, Maila Björklund and Anja Mäki (both 15) and Seppo Boisman (18) were killed by stabbing and blunt-force trauma to their heads while sleeping inside a tent. The fourth, Nils Gustafsson, then aged 18, was found outside the tent with broken facial bones and stab wounds. Despite extensive investigations, the perpetrator was never identified and various theories on the killer's identity have been presented over the years. Dr. Nils Gustafsson, Senior Lecturer of Strategic Communication at Lund University, discusses the run-up to the 2022 Swedish Elections and then findings from his research. First, we chat about the main political issues that Swedes are voting on, as well as how political parties and party leaders are digital campaigning on social media. Then, Dr. Gustafsson shares findings from three of his research projects. In June of 1960, a scenic campsite overlooking Finland's Lake Bodom was the scene of a vicious multiple murder. Maila Bjorklund, Seppo Boisman, and Anja Maki were murdered as they slept in their tent. Their friend Nils Gustafsson survived, but with head injuries so severe that he lost all memory of the attack. They were hacked to death while they slept in their tent, in an attack so frenzied and horrifying, it is said to have inspired the famous Friday the 13th movies. Join me as we explore this unsolved case and delve into the mysteries that surround the Slaughter at Lake Bodom… Lake Bodom is a little over 12 miles from the Finnish capital of Helsinki, near the town of Espoo. And on the night of June 4, 1960, it's where two teenage couples — Nils Gustafsson, 18; Irmeli Björklund, 15; Seppo Boisman, 18; and Tuulikki Mäki, 15 — set up tents to camp out and enjoy the pristine wilderness. It was only a year since the murders that happened in the Tulilahti camping area, so the parents of the girls weren't exactly thrilled to let their daughters go on the trip, but they let them go last minute. They rode their motorcycles to the lake's bay and set up camp. They then pitched their tent near the local beach, where they spent the rest of the evening drinking, talking, and barbecuing before retiring for the night around midnight. The boys claim to have woken up a few hours after falling asleep and went fishing for a short while and returned to sleep.  But between the hours of 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., the teenagers were attacked.

In 1960, three young people, Maila Bjorklund, Anja Tuulikki Maki, and Seppo Boisman were murdered in Finland while they were camping. A fourth person, Nils Gustafsson, who was with the group was injured but survived, and later became a suspect. This is one of Finland's most infamous unsolved murder cases. It rocked the country at the time it occurred and some people are still wary, to this day, about camping because of the stories that have been told over the years. On the morning of June 5, 1960, a grim discovery was made along the shoreline of Lake Bodom in Espoo, Finland. Four local teens on a camping trip were found brutally bludgeoned and stabbed inside their tent, with three of them having succumbed to their injuries. The survivor, Nils Gustafsson, suffered a broken jaw and multiple facial fractures, leaving him with almost no memory of the incident. Yet, before long, the suspicion mounted, and many came to believe Gustafsson was actually the killer. But did he really do it? Or was the real perpetrator one of several other shady men who came under police scrutiny in the aftermath of the crime? Either way, the case remains unsolved, and the murderer never saw justice. Join host Ryan Kraus for a psychological exploration of evidence found at the scene in an attempt to finally uncover the truth of this baffling mystery.

Över hela världen blir både diktaturer och demokratiaktivister allt skickligare på internetkrigföring.Men hur vet man vem som är vem när striden förs via anonyma hackergrupper?Hör röster från Burma Iran och Sverige om kampen om demokratin på nätet.Internets stora betydelse för demokratirörelser runt om i världen har vi berättat om tidigare inte minst i samband med den arabiska våren. Sedan dess har mycket hänt. Tillexempel har anonyma hackergrupper kommit att spelar stor roll i länder där kampen mellan opposition och diktatur står och väger. Det tittar vi närmare på i dagens Konflkt. Vi ska även tala om hur anonymt hat och hotande på nätet kan påverka det demokratiska samtalet också här i Sverige.Vi börjar i Burma, landet som så länge verkade vara en orubblig militärdiktatur, men där en ganska snabb demokratiseringsprocess rullade igång för några år sedan och som ledde fram till att demokratikämpen Aung San suu kyi kunde vinna parlametsvalet i höstas.Mycket av det som föregick valet hade utspelat sig på nätet i en kamp mellan militärregimen och demokratiaktivister. Den här kampen blev både hård, ojust och tillslut även blodig och anonyma hackare kom att spela en överraskande roll.Reportage av frilansjournalisten Carolina Jemsby.Gäst är Marcin de Kaminski som ansvarar för området mänskliga rättigheter och internet på SIDA. Han också tidigare nätaktivist och har jobbat med att utbilda mr-aktivister i digital säkerhet. Hur hänger det här ihop?Konflikts Axel Winqvist ringde till Amir Rashidi, en exiliranier i New York som arbetar med säkerhet och yttrandefrihet på internet för International Campaign for Human rights in Iran.Även här i en öppen stabil demokrati ser vi problemet att anonyma avsändare motarbetar förutsättningarna för ett hälsosamt offentligt samtal på nätet. Hat- och hotkommentarer drabbar både debattörer, journalister, politiker och privatpersoner hårt.Konflikts Marie Nilsson Boij har träffat Robin Harms Oredsson som är utvecklare på den idéella organisationen Betahaus som jobbar med att utveckla demokratiprojekt digitalt och han menar att näthatet blivit ett så stort problem att det nästan är omöjligt att sätta upp ett debattforum. Medverkar gör även Anna- Klara Bratt, chefredaktör på den feministiska tidskriften Feministiskt Perspektiv. Hon menar att det nu gått så långt att näthatet utgör ett hot mot vår demokrati. Därefter samtal med Nils Gustafsson, statsvetare vid Lunds universitet som skrivit sin doktorsavhandling om sociala mediers roll för svensk demokrati. Vad ser han i sin forskning?
