When Rugby League player Jaime Chapman was growing up, she didn’t have any NRLW players to look up to. In fact, her dad helped her make her own Sevens team full of young girls, just so she could keep playing footy. Fast forward to 2020, and Jaime made her NRLW debut with the Dragons and hasn’t looked back since. Chappo's gone on to play in two NRLW grand-finals, represent the Indigenous All-Stars and make 8 state of Origin appearances, including in 2024 when she scored THAT 85m solo try. For the first 20 years of her career, Haz Burbidge-Smith was an avid BMX rider – winning multiple world and Australian Championships, with her focus set on fulfilling her Olympic dream. But then she discovered her true passion – Mountain Bike Riding - and hasn’t looked back since. But in 2024, Haz suffered what she thought was a broken hand, which later turned out to be a broken hand, neck and wrist. Lucky to be where she is, Haz has since been on an incredible journey to get back on the bike and return to the competitive slopestyle scene. Haz opens up about choosing a sport for fulfilment rather than societal expectations, learning to embrace her fear to take on gnarly tricks, and her emotional journey back on the bike just 6 MONTHS after surgery. Shyla Heal debuted in the WNBL at just 14 years old. In the decade since her debut, she’s gone on to play for five clubs in the Australian Women’s Basketball League, including the championship-winning Townsville Fire in 2023. But one of the biggest moments of Shyla’s career came when she was drafted by the Chicago Sky in the 2021 WNBA Draft. Shyla played just four games before being traded and waived from the roster in the most brutal of ways. But now she’s using it as motivation to one day return to the World’s Best Women’s Basketball league. Lizzie Welborn’s story begins quite differently to other female athletes. Growing up, she wasn’t sporty and sport wasn’t a big part of her childhood. That was until age 10 when she started surf lifesaving. From there, her competitive spark was lit, and by age 16 she was competing in the professional Australian Ironwoman Series, making her one of the youngest athletes in history to qualify.
