Hello to you listening in Parker, Colorado! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Since 17th September I've been virtually retracing my pilgrimage steps on the Camino de Santiago, an annual ritual to remind me what I gained, what I was willing to toss away, and marking my life as BC & AC: Before Camino and After Camino.That cold dark morning I climbed the wet mountain trail to arrive at the Cruz de Ferro - also called the Iron Cross - bearing rocks for 16 friends and family members. Funny to be carrying all that extra weight when our packs are supposed to be pared down to the least we need. But I had promised that I would include my beloveds in this Camino ritual to set down burdens by leaving a rock and a prayer  - even symbolically - leaving behind for them the weight of fears, heartbreak, mistakes, regrets, disappointments. For me it was fear of poverty.  What the Camino gave me then and continues to give me now is a profound sense of community I've found nowhere else. Whether we prayed for ourselves at the Cruz de Ferro or for the state of the world or for something in between I just know that our prayers were heard. And answered; but perhaps not in the way we expected. Why? Because we don't get what we ask for; we get what we dream of. Brauchler backs John Kellner, his 18th JD DA successor, to take AG out now.    The Brauchler/Kellner/Wells campaign attacks AG Weiser as ineffectual when it comes to crimes afflicting Colorado such as car thefts, fentanyl, and road rage. Colorado's most populous judicial district contains Parker, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, most of Aurora, and many more municipalities. Crime is up there and most places. But with regard to road rage, how has Kellner performed?   On 2-26-22, Luke Cranor was a law abiding father of four who was returning with wife and daughters from an evening of mini-golf when he encountered an aggressive driver going east on County Line Road. The lady grew furious at Luke who had passed her prior to them reaching a red light. That's when the lady hit Luke's new truck from behind. https://monsterminigolf.com/denver/   Luke got out of his truck to examine the damage. He looked at the raging woman and watched in horror as she re-initiated further contact, repeatedly ramming his new truck with his family inside. Luke got a video of the woman and her Jeep and the license plate before he got back in his car and called 911.   Then the lady took off, east on County Line, trying to shake Luke Cranor who was following her and alerting various jurisdictions as they passed through. Fortunately and finally, dutiful Douglas County Sheriffs pulled over the lady. After first denying she consumed alcohol, she admitted to margarita drinking at Los Dos Potrillos. After first falsely accusing Luke Cranor of backing into her at that red light on County Line Road, she admitted that was wrong.   DCSD charged the lady via summons and complaint with Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief and Hit & Run. Weeks later, Luke Cranor was shocked to learn John Kellner's DA's Office dismissed the case without even speaking to him. Cranor pushed back to a deputy DA, and when not satisfied, Luke Cranor had a recorded phone call with one of Kellner's senior supervising prosecutors.    Road rage is horrible. Colorado has the third highest rate of any state in the nation according to radio host George Brauchler, former 18th JD DA, and predecessor/mentor of John Kellner. Kiha also coached at USC, St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. A native of Aurora, Colo., Sutta played collegiate soccer at Northern Colorado. A 2003 grad of UNC, Sutta was a standout player. In 2002, she was named Verizon Academic All-District VII and to the NSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-Region First Team. She also was named to the NSCAA All-Central Region Team and All-North Central Conference Team in 1999, 2001 and 2002. In 2013, Sutta was inducted into the Northern Colorado Sports Hall of Fame for her standout soccer career there. She is just one of three soccer players in UNC history to be inducted. People everywhere are busy, and it's no different in Parker, Colorado. As part of an initiative to increase the level of community engagement and participation in local issues, Parker officials sought to provide new and innovative ways for their residents to get involved and provide feedback. The town knew that to increase engagement they needed to think outside the box and offer tools that work for Parker's growing community. In Parker's 2017 citizen survey, the town heard overwhelming resident support for the development of an online community engagement tool. Ninety percent of survey respondents said they were likely to engage in local issues if they could do so online, at a time that was convenient for their schedule. This support, combined with Parker's drive to increase engagement, led Town officials to create their new engagement portal, Let's Talk Parker, using the EngagementHQ platform. With the goal of gaining ideas, feedback and community support, Parker launched some very creative projects, including Fact or Fiction, My Mainstreet, and even a mapping tool for the community to report traffic issues to the Police Department. In this episode I talk with Coach Patrick Nolan from Ponderosa high school in Parker Colorado. Coach Nolan is a strength coach for both a sports performance center and Ponderosa Mustangs. He has got a great program implemented and makes sure that each athlete is developing the way they should be with movement first.  Before his current position he was the head strength and conditioning coach at Glenbrook South H.S. in Glenview, IL. And he was also a sports performance coach at TCBOOST Sports Performance in Northbrook, IL. He received his B.S. in Exercise Science at Florida State University while playing club hockey.  He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA along with having his XPS through EXOS and the FMS cert as well.
