Years ago, I found myself at a crossroads, grappling with the consequences of impulsive decisions fueled by anger and excess. This personal journey has inspired today's episode, where we explore the timeless story of Queen Vashti and King Xerxes. Through their narrative, we reflect on how unchecked indulgence, particularly in the context of excessive partying, can lead to poor leadership and decisions with far-reaching effects. Riley Clemmons joins us to share the personal story behind her song "Fighting for Me," a testament to overcoming anxiety and embracing love and support. We delve into the power of scripture, sharing life verses that have been pivotal in facing life's challenges. Through these stories and testimonies, we encourage you to nurture your faith and find strength in the sacred words that can guide and anchor your life. Learn more about the host, Jennifer Jackson. Come along as we uncover how Esther, often viewed merely as a beauty queen, played a crucial role in shaping the fate of her people through her courage and strategic use of the opportunities God placed in her path. Against the backdrop of the mighty Persian empire, Esther's narrative is a profound reminder of how God's purposeful timing can work wonders, even in the most adverse situations. In this episode, I also share the ongoing mission of the Simply for Women ministry and the invaluable role of community support. This Christ-centered space is more than just a podcast—it's a sanctuary where women can grow, connect, and transform their lives through scripture and shared experiences. My God, Keep Fighting for Me! "For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.' Deuteronomy 20:4 In life's darkest moments, it's essential to remember that you are never alone. Just like Riley Clemmons' lyrics remind us, there's a love that fights the night for us—a divine love that offers unwavering support and strength when we feel most vulnerable. This love is a constant presence, ready to lift you up when your strength falters. In marriage, careers, family, or ministry, God stands beside you as an unfaltering ally in every battle. “There is no limit to what we can achieve when we dare to keep fighting,” a quote that speaks volumes of truth. Imagine God as the steady lighthouse guiding ships through stormy seas; no matter how fierce the waves crash around you, there's always a guiding light showing you the way. This powerful analogy mirrors God's ceaseless dedication and promise: I will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Psalm 27:1 says, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Amid any situation, believe in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse is a testament to God's empowering presence in our lives, equipping us with endurance when our faith wavers. Even on days when hope seems distant, His unyielding commitment reminds us that we're capable of overcoming any obstacle. You aren't just surviving; you're thriving under God's protective care. Imagine Him weaving protection and resilience into your very being—turning challenges into opportunities for growth. Rest assured that his fight on your behalf is relentless and ever-faithful because He loves you like nobody else ever could. Amen. Romans 8:28 says, “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Amen. Prayer for the Day! I pray that the Lord, in His boundless wisdom and grace, transforms every challenge you face into a stepping stone toward unimaginable growth. May each obstacle become an opportunity for God to demonstrate His mighty power in your life and bring forth a robust faith that withstands all seasons. In Jesus' name. Amen. https://maglife.org --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pastor-divineo/support

On today's episode, we chat with Riley Clemmons! Riley Clemmons is a rising artist from Nashville, TN who has accumulated over half a billion global streams and 85 million YouTube video views since the beginning of her almost decade long career. After spending years refining her craft in writers' rooms, Riley sky-rocketed onto the scene with her 2017 Capitol CMG debut single “Broken Prayers”, which has generated over 56 million global streams since its release. Her 2018 self-titled album debut quickly entered the Billboard Heatseekers chart, debuting at No. 13. Riley released her long awaited third studio album, Church Pew. The 11-track album, co-produced with Jeff Pardo, marks a season a self-discovery for Riley. After experiencing depression and burn out brought on by the pressures of being in the spotlight for so long, Riley spent the better part of a year reflecting and finding what brought her true joy. The resulting body of work follows that journey and demonstrates who she is at her core. Though no stranger to the studio, Church Pew, marks the first time Riley has stepped into the role of Executive Producer. “It feels as though my entire life has been leading up to the creation of this record” shares Riley. “With that said, this album was born from the lowest and toughest point in my life thus far. During an ongoing battle with depression and anxiety and navigating what felt like a true identity crisis, I took a step back from music and creating to live life. I was able to pause long enough to rediscover what I loved and resonated with sonically and lyrically, as I began to allow myself the space to naturally evolve, change, and grow. rileyclemmons.com @rileyclemmons christianmusicguys.com @christianmusicguys --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christianmusicguys/message

"Dear diary, My dad's having an affair! It all started a week ago when I stayed home from school. I was sick and was curled up in my bed, trying to fall asleep. A soft knock on the front door made me sit up, and I wondered who could be knocking at 10 am. Mum was home, and I tiptoed and peeked out the window. A sleek black car was parked in front of our house—a tall woman dressed in a dark trousers and a nice top stood there—she had short dark hair and her skin was nicely tanned—she looked very pretty. “Yes, can I help you?” Mum smiled. “Is Drew home?” she asked, looking at her surroundings. “Drew? As in my husband?” The woman nodded slowly. “I'm looking for him.” She said. “Sorry, he's at work, but if you leave a message and a name I can get him to call you back?” The woman stared at mum for a few seconds. Then she mumbled something and hurried off. I stood at the window a little longer and watched her get into her car and drive off. Slowly, I made my way back to bed, totally confused about this woman. I mean, isn't is odd that she mumbled something and didn't tell my mother her name or why she was looking for dad?" Brendan Burke and Bradden Ford review Riley Clemmons' latest album "Godsend." Join us as we discuss this hit pop album.
Riley Clemmons was discovered as a 13 year old with such immense talent she turned heads at a young age. Her parents were super supportive and made a point of protecting Riley's heart as she embarked on her musical journey. Popular is an understatement. Over 200 million music streams and 50 million you tube hits she speaks to her generation and they can't get enough of her. She's already been nominated for Female Artist of the Year becoming the youngest nominee ever. Her music is powerful, and comes from her heart She still keeps and old school journal where she writes her ideas after seeing how shining a light on her thoughts, fears, struggles and even the good times keeps the darkness out. It's her fans that keep her going, that maybe even one person may feel less alone through listening to her music. She has a direct link to her fans via social media, and will often reply with a direct message from Riley herself. She knew what it was like to be a fan growing up and wants to help feed the spirit of those who are searching and need to know there is a good God in this world. She's intentional about having Jesus in every part of her life, at church, in her break ups or even in her own mental health struggles. Her impact goes as far as a stranger to even her own family who have benefited from her gifts. Riley Clemmons is pure, has an amazing heart and has her head in the right place to make a massive difference in this world. More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
There are truths in Scripture that make us feel uncomfortable. Sometimes we don't think they make sense. Other times they bump up against a belief we hold that doesn't align with Scripture itself. Riley Clemmons' song "Godsend" sent me to 2 Corinthians, where Paul describes something that seems a little "thorny" on the surface. Join me on the journey this week as we allow Scripture to change how we think -- despite the discomfort. In this week's episode, I discuss: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture - this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises include: Read in context Consult an overview Utilize an outside resource Follow the cross-reference Look up words in the dictionary Read in a variety of translations Historical context Meditate on Scripture The elements of our feature verse reflected in the lyrics - 2 Corinthians 12:7 How God may send painful circumstances to protect us How 2 Corinthians is tricky to read Consulting an overview The Bible Project Overview of 2 Corinthians - YouTube Video "How to Read the Bible Book by Book" by Fee and Stuart - Amazon paid link Reformation Study Bible Introduction to 2 Corinthians - Amazon paid link What those in opposition to Paul value vs. what Paul values Paul's bold speech to the Corinthian believers Paul's argument against the "super-apostles" Considering what the Christian culture of our day values and celebrates and lining it up against Scripture How the thorn in Paul's flesh was a Godsend - 2 Corinthians 2:9 How "we can't receive God's strength until we know our weakness. We can't receive the sufficiency of God's grace until we know our own insufficiency." - David Guzik, BlueLetterBible.org As long as we are operating in our own sufficiency we don't truly believe God's grace is sufficient. We serve a loving God. He helps us in our weakness, He causes everything to work together for our good, He gives us right standing before Him by taking away the sin nature we could never conquer on our own, and so much more. Riley Clemmons sings about this in her song "For The Good," but it all came from Paul's letter to the Romans. Let's read this letter together. Grab a Reader's Bible, and I'll meet you in the letter to the Romans.
