The Soil Sisters welcome one of their former coaches and teachers, Dr. Nelson Coulter, to the podcast to discuss his experience in Texas public schools. This discussion takes a ground-level look at changing school food systems and what becomes possible when communities prioritize health. Dr. Coulter explains the steps and bureaucracy involved in formally leaving the National School Lunch Program, the budget tradeoffs required, and why small districts can oftentimes innovate faster. The conversation covers what changed after the shift—less food waste, steadier energy and performance throughout the day, improved athletic practices, reduced after-school overeating at home, and better behavioral self-regulation—along with ideas for making healthier student meals feasible in all school districts. Dr. Coulter also shares how permaculture and regenerative practices shape his family's ranch life, food production, and self-sufficiency. Young Geraldine longs to have adventures as thrilling as those in the Book of Tales, the book her papa reads to her and her brother Button at night. More than that, she wants to be brave—a seemingly impossible task in a world where ravens throw black shadows over the earth and wolves prowl barren lands in search of their prey. But Geraldine is a mouse. The weakest of ground things. Why was she, who wants so much to be brave, created by God to be small and quivering?Karin Kaufman grew up devouring murder mysteries, especially of the cozy kind. Give her a mystery, a comfy couch, and her sweet rescue dog Dakota Grace at her side, and she's in heaven. She's the author of the Smithwell Fairies Cozy Mystery Series and the Juniper Grove Cozy Mystery Series. When Karin is feeling whimsical, which is pretty much all the time, she writes children's books. She's the author of the Geraldine Woolkins Series, adventure tales for middle-grade readers and read-aloud families. Her passion is to delight and entertains children through stories of faith, peril, and hope. If you, or someone you love, struggles with depression and no matter what you do, there always seems to be a cloud hanging over you, this podcast may encourage you that there IS hope and help! My guest on this episode, Theresa Fiege, has dealt with clinical depression for a very long time. Theresa shares how she learned to cope and live life on the ‘up' side thanks to God, a good therapist and medication. I asked Theresa to share what's helped her in our show notes and she wrote this note to help you:=> First and foremost, dial 988 if you are thinking of hurting/killing yourself. It will connect you to a live person who can help you. You should also talk to your primary care physician about what is going on. => Stay close to God. I use the YouVersion Bible App. There are so many plans for mental health. Filling my mind with God's Word has helped so when I am feeling discouraged or down, I can turn to the verses I've memorized to help. Psalm 42:5-6 is helpful to remind me that God has never failed me and He will not ever.=> Christian music is a great help. I love the song ""Breakdown"" by Andrew Ripp. The line, ""If you couldn't feel further from redemption, you're the closest you've ever been, ROCK BOTTOM IS A FIRM FOUNDATION"" God sees me where I am and He understands me. Music helps.Direct questions & comments to: podcast@wearethebridge.orgDenise Harper's new book, “Treasured Inside - Devotions With Denise,” is available at Amazon, Apple, Target, and more. You may think that sex trafficking only happens in third-world countries. It certainly doesn't happen here! The truth is, human trafficking is happening right here in our local communities. It's heartbreaking. It's ugly. And it's hard to imagine what we could do to make a difference.Yolanda answered the call God placed on her life to do something about it. That's how Zoe Ministries was birthed. Answering the call. This story may not be suitable for younger ones to hear (in case you're listening with little ones in the room), but this story must be heard because you and I CAN do something to help save the ones who have been trapped and lied to over and over. There is hope for the hopeless, and maybe, just maybe, God is asking us to help provide hope and healing to those who desperately need to know that their identity is in Jesus.Show Notes:Yolanda (Schlabach) Montgomery, ED.D.Zoe Ministries, Founder and Executive DirectorFor more information on Zoe Ministries & Hannah's House:zoe-delaware.orgPolaris (holds the HT hotline number): polarisproject.orgHOTLINE NUMBER TO REPORT HT: 888-373-7888Shared Hope for each state's report card: https://sharedhope.orgDirect questions & comments to: podcast@wearethebridge.orgDenise Harper's new book, “Treasured Inside - Devotions With Denise,” is available at Amazon, Apple, Target, and more. Do you ever wonder how people of the same Enneagram type can look so different? This is due to a variety of things: Levels of health or alignment with The Gospel (refer to episode 12); our Enneagram Wings; and our subtype. In this episode host Kim Willey and Certified Enneagram Coach, Ben Sorrells will be discussing WINGS. Each Enneagram type has two adjacent wings that we use to influence our personality and behavior.Wings are the personality types on either side of the main type. One of those adjacent wings is more dominant than the other. We can choose the healthy side of our wings to help enhance our main type and guard against blindspots we may not see.Would you like to have YOUR question answered and maybe even featured on a future episode? Mandi shared her story with us several years ago (Episode 19). It was one of the first times she had publicly revealed her heartbreaking story of being trafficked from a very young age and how her life had continued to spiral out of control until she found Jesus.Courageous to step forward and speak out, God has opened one door after the other to give her a platform for her bravery and boldness to help others find help, hope and healing. This part of her story - what God has done through her in the last few years - is the stuff only God could do.It's Genesis 50:20 written on the pages and lived out in the life of Mandi Mendoza. To God be the glory!!Show Notes:Esperanza Events & ConsultingEmail: esperanzaevents.consulting@gmail.comWeb: https://www.esperanzaeventsconsulting.comSocial Media: https://www.facebook.com/share/1E376ntiC4/?mibextid=wwXIfrDelaware Anti Trafficking Action Council (Mandi is the Current Chair of the Council)Email: DATAC@delaware.govSocial Media: https://www.facebook.com/share/15gNUfr2ji/?mibextid=wwXIfrGreat resources through National Center on Sexual Exploitation https://endsexualexploitation.orgAlso great resources through Safe House Projecthttps://www.safehouseproject.orgDirect questions & comments to: podcast@wearethebridge.orgDenise Harper's new book, “Treasured Inside - Devotions With Denise,” is available at Amazon, Apple, Target, and more.
