Project 2025 began not as a campaign slogan, but as a 900‑plus page manual quietly assembled by the conservative Heritage Foundation and allied groups, titled Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise. According to the Heritage Foundation's own description, it is meant to offer the next conservative president a ready‑to‑use blueprint for governing from day one. Former Trump officials helped draft it, and Heritage president Kevin Roberts has called it “a governing agenda and the personnel to carry it out.” At its core, Project 2025 is about reshaping the federal government itself. The plan urges a future administration to revive and expand “Schedule F,” a Trump‑era job classification that would let the president reclassify thousands of career civil servants as political appointees. Brookings Institution analysts note that this would make it far easier to fire existing staff and replace them with ideological loyalists, dramatically increasing White House control over agencies that have traditionally been more independent. The scope is sweeping. On education, Brookings reports that Project 2025 proposes dismantling the U.S. Department of Education, phasing out Title I funding for low‑income schools, and eliminating the Head Start program that serves children in poverty. It calls for rolling back federal civil‑rights protections for LGBTQ+ students and weakening enforcement of Title IX. Supporters frame this as restoring “parental rights” and shrinking “woke bureaucracy.” Critics warn it would leave vulnerable students with fewer protections and widen inequality. Other chapters reach deeply into social policy. The American Civil Liberties Union explains that Project 2025 recommends ending birthright citizenship, expanding mass deportations, and sharply limiting asylum, effectively remaking the immigration system in a more punitive direction. The Center for American Progress points to proposals to raise the Social Security retirement age to 69 and curb union power, including weakening the National Labor Relations Board and banning public‑sector unions, moves that labor advocates say would undercut working‑class economic security. Reproductive rights are another central front. Reproductive Freedom for All summarizes Project 2025 provisions that would restrict access to contraception and emergency contraception, block abortion medication nationwide, and even describe in‑vitro fertilization as something that should become “ethically unthinkable.” The ACLU argues these ideas would amount to a nationwide rollback of reproductive freedom driven by a specific religious vision of family life. Supporters of Project 2025 argue that all of this is needed to “rescue the country from the grip of the administrative state,” in the words of Heritage's introduction. Opponents, including the Stop Project 2025 Task Force in Congress, counter that it is “a manual on how to turn American democracy into a conservative, authoritarian nation” by concentrating power in the presidency and weakening checks and balances. In the months ahead, listeners can expect more concrete tests: confirmation battles over key appointees, court fights over Schedule F and agency authority, and election campaigns where candidates are pressed to say how closely they endorse the blueprint. Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened down 58-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 45,620 on turnover of $18-billion N-T. Premier talks lifetime license ban for fatal drug-impaired driving Premier Cho Jung-tai says motorists who cause death or serious injury while driving under the influence of drugs will face a lifetime license ban under planned amendments to the law. According to the Cabinet, the Ministry of Justice has been instructed to draft amendments imposing harsher (更嚴厲的) criminal penalties for drug-impaired driving as soon as possible. The premier says Cabinet would discuss establishing a legal basis for rapid saliva testing of suspected drug-impaired drivers and those tests could also be used alongside existing urine tests in schools to strengthen anti-drug efforts. The premier also says authorities will step up border inspections targeting vapes and that he's instructed the justice ministry to convene a narcotics review committee to consider reclassifying etomidate from a Category 2 to a Category 1 narcotic. The proposed changes come after the Ministry of Transport earlier this week unveiled a package of stricter administrative penalties that also covered passengers riding with drug-impaired drivers and expanded license revocations. Taipei Zoo to receive two red pandas on Saturday: Officials Taipei Zoo is scheduled to receive two red pandas from Shanghai Zoo tomorrow. The red pandas are coming to Taiwan under an agreement signed at the 2024 Shanghai-Taipei Twin City Forum. Taipei Zoo will be sending white‑handed gibbons to Shanghai Zoo instead of African penguins as originally (起初) stated in the agreement. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan‑an says the red pandas are expected to make their public debut after completing a one-month quarantine period following their arrival. Former Trump advisor John Bolton reportedly reaches plea deal Donald Trump's former national security advisor John Bolton has reportedly agreed to plead guilty to mishandling classified misinformation, stemming from a critical book he wrote about his time in the administration.. Somalia Opposition Clashes in Mogadishu Somalia's opposition supporters and security forces have clashed in Mogadishu for a second day ahead of a planned anti-government demonstration. The United Nations and the United States called for restraint (克制) as the government and opposition blame each other for the violence. Residents reported heavy gunfire and explosions in several neighborhoods. The clashes highlight growing political tensions over elections and the constitution. Gunfire subsides Thursday afternoon after mediation efforts. Opposition figures say the rally protests constitutional violations and efforts by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to extend his tenure. The government rejects those allegations. EU Expands Ocean Monitoring Network The European Union is expanding its ocean monitoring network with underwater drones and satellites as climate change intensifies heat waves and storms. EU Commision President Ursula von der Leyen $107-million US dollars will fund this effort. Oceans are vital ecosystems covering about 70% of planet Earth, hosting complex webs of life that generate oxygen and absorb (吸收) greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. The EU aims to lead global ocean research and protection. Funds will support oceanic technology incubators and the United Nations' Global Ocean Observing System. By 2035, the EU hopes to cover 35% of Earth's maritime monitoring network. That was the I.C.R.T. Namibia sits on the south-west coast of Africa. Below Angola, above South Africa, with Botswana to the east.Portuguese explorers first reached the coast here in the 1480s. No natural harbour, brutal surf, cold Atlantic fog, the Namib Desert running straight into the sea, little access to fresh water. They planted crosses to mark their claims, turned around and went home again, never to return.Today that coast is known as the Skeleton Coast because of shipwrecks and whale bones.Three hundred years later, having decided there was too much tropical disease in Gambia, the British looked at Namibia as a possible penal colony. They decided it was too inhumane. It was Germans and Finns who eventually settled on the coast another hundred years on.Namibia is about three and a half times the size of the UK, and yet its population is only 3 million. It is big and empty. Most of it is desert.I've got more endless expanse shots than I know what to do with. Here is just one of them. Plus a short vid shot from a hot air balloon which gives you an idea of the sheer endlessness of the place.Even in the capital city, Windhoek, there is just so much space. The only two places in the world that are less densely populated are Greenland and Mongolia. Namibia beats even Australia and Mauritania, which is mostly Sahara desert.Demographically, the country is roughly 87% black, 6% white and 5% mixed race, with the Ovambo people to the north making up about half the population. I saw a few Asians while I was there too.A country of extremesThere are still bushmen and other ancient hunter-gatherer people living as they have lived for centuries, yet other parts of the country are extremely modern. There are shopping centres to rival our own, good roads (the best in Africa, I was told), great restaurants, commercial farms and more. About half the population is urban. The national language is English, adopted after the country gained independence from South Africa in 1990, but I found that people, black and white, would as often speak amongst themselves in Afrikaans and, up north, Ovambo. On the coast German is widely spoken. (The country was a German colony from the 1880s until World War I, when South Africa, then British, invaded. Hence it has great beer.)The controlling political force is the South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO), which has governed since independence in 1990. SWAPO is nominally social democratic, but there are still strong liberation-era left-wing instincts, as evidenced by streets in the capital renamed after independence: Fidel Castro Street, Robert Mugabe Avenue and so on.All being said, Namibia functions well.It is a stable democracy with rule of law, an independent judiciary (the government sometimes loses cases), relatively free markets and low crime by African (and European) standards. Immigration law is tight too. Having seen the problems stemming from mass immigration into South Africa, Namibia has taken a more controlled approach.Indeed I heard repeated frustrations from mining companies trying to obtain visas for geologists and mining engineers where the local expertise either does not exist or is employed elsewhere.Official unemployment is 37%, but I heard from several different sources that the real number is above 50%. 50%! Very sad.Nominal GDP per capita sits around US$5,000, roughly double that adjusted for purchasing power, which puts it above most of sub-Saharan Africa. The World Bank classifies Namibia as a lower-middle-income country, alongside countries such as Albania, Argentina and Belize. But these numbers are misleading. The country has vast wealth through its natural resources and related industries: uranium, copper, diamonds, fishing and tourism. Spread that revenue across just 3 million people and the averages look impressive. There is also serious rural poverty.Namibia combines first-world infrastructure with third-world unemployment. The currency is pegged to the South African rand, not one I would have chosen. Official inflation sits in the 2-3% range.About 88% of the country's sovereign debt is held domestically, and there appears to be healthy demand for its bonds. The country has also recently begun a sovereign wealth fund, which is reportedly growing at an impressive 16% since 2022. The central bank has recently also implemented a gold acquisition programme. Kudos. The country has high institutional savings and one the larger stock exchanges in sub-Saharan Africa.Food is cheap, protein in particular. The country has an enormous cattle herd, almost as large as its population. Recent outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in neighbouring countries are therefore a cause for concern, as you can imagine. (Not my bag, but I reckon there is an opportunity exporting Namibian biltong to the UK, where it is expensive. I brought back loads). Other goods, however, can be expensive because the country relies heavily on imports. If you live in a third world country such as the UK, I urge you to own gold or silver. The pound will be further devalued, as will the euro and dollar. The bullion dealer I use and recommend is The Pure Gold Company. They deliver to the UK, the US, Canada and Europe. More here. The main industries - tourism and natural resourcesPorts are expanding. The railways are not great, though I hear they will be improved. The roads, however, are excellent, as I said. Namibia is also the world's third-largest uranium producer after Kazakhstan and Canada. Chinese interests hold majority stakes in the country's three largest uranium mines, not to mention other metals.Oil and gas have recently been discovered offshore. Shell plc is one of the pioneers. As for gold, Namibia only really became a meaningful gold player after independence, since when roughly 15 million ounces have been discovered, much of it alongside copper. Among the larger players is B2 Gold (BTO.TO), which is well known in the country. Large parts of the country remain un- or under-explored. And I think that is where a lot of the big opportuities lie. There also appear to be rare earth deposits in some abundance. Kendrik Resources (KEN.L) recently made some progress here. Solar, wind and hydrogen projects are also attracting investment tooChinese money helped build the SWAPO headquarters, and they are investing significantly in mines in the country. Of note is that the USA recently spent heavily developing their embassy. It is big. Former Trump attorney John Giordano is now ambassador, a surprisingly high -profile appointment for such a low-profile country. One theory I heard repeatedly was that, given deteriorating US relations with South Africa, Washington increasingly sees Namibia as strategically important in terms of Atlantic access, energy routes and influence in the south Atlantic. Not quite the Panama Canal or Strait of Hormuz, but it could be something of a chokepoint. Namibia feels like a country at the cusp of something. It has space, resources, energy, political stability and strategic importance.Next week I want to look in more detail at Namibia as an investment destination, particularly its mining sector, where some very interesting things may be developing. My thanks go to to Rowland Brown and Chanel Marais of Cirrus Capital for bringing me to Namibia and for organizing what was a brilliant and instructuve conference.Thank you for reading the Flying Frisby.Until next time,Dominic This is a public episode. A former advisor to Donald Trump says he's under more pressure than Iran. The US and Iran will sit down for talks in less than 48 hours in Pakistan, as the ceasefire between the two nations continues to look shaky. The Strait of Hormuz is reportedly back open, but Iran says any ships that pass through will need to communicate with its army. Iran's claimed victory, saying its regime will seek compensation for every single loss inflicted. Former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton told Mike Hosking the US President needs to open the strait with military force if ships can't pass through. He says if the US isn't able to prove it can open the strait, then who knows what will happen if Iran closes it again. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Saffran unpack the seismic shifts reshaping global geopolitics and society in late March 2026. Former Trump loyalist and decorated veteran Joe Kent dramatically resigns as U.S. National Counterterrorism Chief, publicly blasting the administration's war with Iran as unnecessary and driven by external pressures. Meanwhile, the U.S.–Iran conflict enters a dangerous new phase with ongoing strikes, Houthi involvement, and mounting diplomatic maneuvers. Trade tensions flare as Malaysia becomes the first nation to cancel its reciprocal tariff deal with the Trump administration following a landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling. Across Asia, the war's fallout triggers severe fuel shortages, forcing countries like the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam into emergency measures, rationing, and energy austerity reminiscent of the pandemic. Closer to home in Europe, a heartbreaking story unfolds as 25-year-old Spanish woman Noelia Castillo dies by legal euthanasia on March 26 after a protracted court battle with her family, reigniting debates over assisted dying, personal autonomy, and state responsibility. I'm opposed to this war. The Trump administration did not consult the American public or try to persuade Congress before authorizing the strikes on Iran. I don't think the administration is prepared for what the strikes might unleash. But I wanted to try to understand President Trump's decisions from the perspective of somebody much friendlier to his foreign policy. Nadia Schadlow is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and served as a deputy national security adviser during Trump's first term. She led the drafting and publication of the 2017 National Security Strategy of the United States. In this conversation, Schadlow gives the conservative case for war with Iran, and for attacking without first building support in Congress or with the public. And I ask her how she squares Trump the candidate, who ran on a promise of not starting new wars, with the Trump of today, who's deposed two heads of state since the start of 2026, and now says he won't rule out boots on the ground in Iran. Is there a consistent worldview here? Or did Trump change? In this extremely enraged episode of Follow the Money, we ask the only question that actually matters in Trump's second crime spree through history: who is getting rich off of Trump chaos and the world's misery? Russian mafia expert Olga Lautman of Trump Tyranny Tracker and Andrea Chalupa of Gaslit Nation together trace a financial pipeline of blood money that runs from the Kremlin, through Qatar, through crypto, straight into Trump World and its favorite oligarch bagmen. While Ukrainian kids are protesting, begging the world not to look away as Russia bombs their playgrounds and kindergartens, Trump's MAGA lackeys, like Matt Gaetz protege Rep. Anna Luna, are in Florida huddling with Putin's money man and messenger, Kirill Dmitriev, sketching out yet another fake "peace plan" that is nothing but a genocide plan for Ukraine and a launchpad for a larger war with Europe. In a blatant crime of access journalism that would make Michael Wolff jealous, Axios published Kremlin/MAGA disinformation by calling it a "peace proposal." In reality, it's a Kremlin bribe: sell off Ukraine's land, launder the theft through "diplomacy," and cash out in crypto for Trump and his longtime real estate buddy-turned-Kremlin fixer Steve Witkoff, and their sons. Their plan is for Ukraine to give up Donbas and Crimea, which suffers under Soviet-style repression, disarm Ukraine' military, and expect the world to recognize stolen land as Russian. In exchange, Trump, Witkoff, and their sons would allegedly get crypto via Qatar and a chance to turn genocide into an investment opportunity. All of this is happening while Russia openly kidnaps Ukrainian children, erases their identities, and feeds them into a military pipeline of Putin's forever war, while half of Europe anxiously prepares for war with Moscow. Follow the money, and you see the gaslighting of Trump once again being bribed to call the Kremlin's foreign policy his own.
