Bye Bye Birdie Brandon Lee returns from the grave through the power of The Crow to bring vengeance upon the Detroit punks who ruined his Halloween wedding. But can director Alex Proyas (Dark City) deliver a gritty comic book vision on par with Tim Burton's Batman after an on-set tragedy prevented his star from completing this 1994 action flick? And how much help does the undead vigilante receive from ghostbuster Ernie Hudson, skater girl Rochelle Davis, and alt-rockers Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, and The Cure? When someone makes a list of the best 90s movies, this week's movie is usually on the list. I bring you my review of classic, The Crow. The Crow was Brandon Lee's final film. He sadly was accidentally killed on the set of The Crow. He was famously precluded in death by his father Bruce Lee, who also died far too early in life. We still got a masterful performance by Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, who comes back from the dead to avenge his, and his fiancée's, murder. He goes up against some slimy baddies led by the murderous and twisted Michael Wincott as Top Dollar. He gets help from a cop played by Ernie Hudson and his friend Sarah played by Rochelle Davis. The action, the drama, the tension is all accompanied by a edgy, hard-hitting lineup of tracks that enhance it all. Join me to do a deep dive on this dark classic. The Crow also stars David Patrick Kelly, Jon Polito, Bai Ling, Tony Todd, Sofia Shinas, Anna Thomson, Angel David, Laurence Mason, Michael Massee, Bill Raymond, Marco Rodriguez and Kim Sykes. The Crow | Brandon Lee | Ernie Hudson | Michael Wincott | Alex Proyas | [1994] The Crow is a 1994 American supernatural dark fantasy directed by Alex Proyas and written by David J. Schow and John Shirley. It stars Brandon Lee in his final film appearance as Eric Draven, a murdered musician who is resurrected to avenge the deaths of himself and his fiancee. The film is based on James O'Barr's comic of the same name. Michael Wincott, Michael Massee, Ernie Hudson, James O'Barr, Tony Todd, Laurence Mason, Bai Ling, Anna Thompson, Rochelle Davis and Sodia Shinas were the supporting cast for The Crow. Production on The Crow was struck by tragedy when Lee was fatally wounded during filming. As Lee had finished most of his scenes before his death, the film was completed through script rewrites, a stunt double, and digital effects. The Crow is dedicated to Brandon Lee and his fiancee, Eliza Hutton. After Brandon Lee's death caused Paramount Pictures to opt-out of distributing the film, the rights were picked up by Miramax, who oversaw The Crow's completion. The Crow was released to positive reviews, with the Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus praising its tone, visuals, and Brandon Lee's performance. The Crow's success led to a media franchise that includes three sequels and a television series. The sequels, which featured different protagonists and none of the original cast members, would be unable to match the success of the first film, however. The Crow was a sleeper hit at the box office, it opened at number one in the United States in 1,573 theaters with $11,774,332 and averaging $7,485 per theater. Some industry sources believed that Miramax overstated the weekend gross by as much as $1 million. The Crow ultimately grossed $50,693,129 in the United States and Canada, and $43 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $93.7 million against its budget of $23 million. It ranked at number 24 for all films released in the US in 1994, the 24th highest-grossing film worldwide for 1994, and number 10 for R-rated films released that year. Overseas in Europe, the film grossed £1,245,403 in the United Kingdom (where it was 18-rated), and sold 4,604,115 tickets in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. In South Korea, it sold 83,126 tickets in Seoul City. #TheCrow #BrandonLee #RIPBrandonLee #ErnieHudson #AlexProyas #DavidJSchow #JohnShirley #MichaelWincott #MichaelMassee #ErnieHudson #JamesOBarr #TonyTodd #LaurenceMason #BaiLing #AnnaThompson #RochelleDavis #SodiaShinas #TheCrow1994 #ParamountPictures #Miramax #CultClassic #MovieByte #MovieBytePodcast ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/moviebytepod...
