For me personally the reason to invite him, once again a clockstone of the Chemnitz House scene. Welcome with me DJ SpuT or rather "Schallplatten Unterhalter Thorsten". A man and DJ who expresses just that with his cool and friendly manner. For which I think there is no better sound than Real House Music. PUBLIC VERSION. Legendary writer David J. Schow (THE CROW, LEATHERFACE: TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE III, CRITTERS 3 & 4, THE HILLS RUN RED, and SO MUCH more) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen for an incredibly candid conversation about his prolific career. From writing a newspaper article about people overdoing their tans leading to David writing articles for various Men's magazines… to his prolific arsenal of incredible one-of-a-kind short stories that created "Splatterpunk" and captured the attention of a young wunderkind at New Line Cinema named Mike Deluca… to being invited in to pitch story ideas for the 1989 TV series FREDDY'S NIGHTMARES where he landed a gig writing what would become the Season 1 finale (“Safe Sex”)… to what his exact involvement actually was with NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5: THE DREAM CHILD… to why violence and carnage are not enough to make up a good horror story… to one of the craziest horror convention cosplays you'll ever hear about (it even has a “happily ever after” aspect)… to his painful experience writing for the reboot of THE OUTER LIMITS (the original series is his favorite show of all time)… to the trials and tribulations of being a screenwriter and having to publicly wear any creative changes that were made to your script during the production process without your input or knowledge… to the true story of how the MPAA screwed over the release of LEATHERFACE: TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE III… to why David has the odd credit of “teleplay by” on Dave Parker's THE HILLS RUN RED (2009) and why the guys believe that the “Babyface” character could have been ranked among the great slasher icons if the film had received the multiple sequels it deserved… to David's extremely personal stories from the making of THE CROW and his honest reflections on the powerful and everlasting legacy of the universally beloved film - including the reason why he's only ever watched it twice… Schow is living proof that hard work, tenacity, and originality can indeed pay off and shine through the dark times. After all, “it can't rain all the time.” Dr Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a returning patient who's just completed her very first short film and looking for some advice as she starts submitting it to festivals, David reveals what became of the De Laurentiis mechanical “King Kong” created for the 1976 remake, and Adam shares the embarrassing story of the first time he tried smoking weed in this brutally honest, extended length, special episode that's so damn good you're going to want to listen to it twice! Live in Los Angeles? Come see Joe's Lynch's 2017 hit MAYHEM on the big screen at the Landmark Nuart Theater in West Los Angeles on September 1st! The evening will include a Q&A with Joe and members of the film's crew hosted by Adam Green. Want to hear the full version of this episode? Casey Schow is the head of communications and PR @ Neighbor, a peer-to-peer storage marketplace. Before Neighbor, he cut his teeth and built great "career capital" at NuSkin, as a PR Manager that managed global reputation results. Back to Neighbor, over the course of 4 years Neighbor has achieved rapid-scale growth: Commercial square footage on its platform grow nearly 25x, received series B funding of $53 million, expanded nationally to nearly every major city in the US, are disrupting the $40B storage industry, while creating passive income for Americans. Finally, Neighbor has been named a "World Changing Idea" by Fast Company & was a finalist in Eric Schmidt's "American Dream Ideas" challenge, as a co improving middle-class income. This conversation was very educational! We dive deep into...how peer-to-peer storage is a key contributor to the rise of a "different work-from-home", the unique PR storytelling perspective of Neighbor, unlocking new sources of "Supply", and the LOW cost barrier that unlocks storage for almost every American. This episode is particularly valuable for FOUNDERS early in their journey who are curious to hear WHY you would consider PR to grow & engage a customer base, or entrepreneurs with an ambition to launch a highly disruptive marketplace and where to start! Have a hoot with this one! You can like & subscribe if you like to, but ultimately we'd PREFER to hear your thoughts: so tell us what you think of the episode & leave a review! In this episode of the Mass Construction Show I speak with Mark Schow of Elevated Design. We discuss why he started the firm, and he explains his take on nuclear energy to indulge my own interest. Then we cover some really interesting topics related to renewable energy such as electrification, heat pumps, battery storage, and cogen. Mark makes a really good point about why legislation is probably necessary to encourage energy efficiency and sustainable solutions. Remember please, rate, review, share, and enjoy the show! Bug-eyed monster lovers rejoice! This week Craig dives deep into the pool of primordial goo that is the Outer Limits episode “Tourist Attraction.” TOL historian David J. Schow joins in to regale us with his bottomless sea of knowledge, plus Dr. Reba Wissner gives us the lowdown on the episode's original music score. The whole affair is slimy... yet strangely satisfying. Get your David J. MONSTER PARTY SEDUCES THE INNOCENT! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, celebrate HALLOWEEN with a salute to those funny books that weren't always so funny. We're talking about the petrifying pulp periodicals, better known as... HORROR COMICS!!! In this episode, we provide an abbreviated history of horror comics, including the intense persecution they suffered. With E.C. books like TALES FROM THE CRYPT, THE HAUNT OF FEAR, and VAULT OF HORROR, horror comics went from being bestsellers, to the targets of moral crusaders. They were blamed for almost every societal woe imaginable. Sex! Drugs! Juvenile delinquency! Let's face it, Archie Andrews had it easy. Eventually, things lightened up for horror comics, and they slowly shed the tarnish of controversy. WARREN PUBLISHING bucked the restrictive Comics Code, with magazines like CREEPY, EERIE, and VAMPIRELLA. And with mainstream comics that included TOMB OF DRACULA, WEREWOLF BY NIGHT, SWAMP THING, and WEIRD WAR TALES, horror characters soon managed to straddle the line between monster and superhero. Although we're all still waiting for that Spider-man/Renfield team-up. Joining us for this cauldron of comic creepiness is an award-winning author, commentator, screenwriter, comic book writer, and friend of the show. MONSTER PARTY is tickled blood red to welcome back... DAVID J. SCHOW! (THE CROW, LEATHERFACE: THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE III, THE OUTER LIMITS COMPANION, THE OUTER LIMITS AT 50, CREEPSHOW, JOHN CARPENTER'S TALES FOR A HALLOWEEN NIGHT, JOHN CARPENTER'S TALES OF SCIENCE FICTION: THE STANDOFF, AND SOOOO MUCH MORE!) HAPPY HALLOWEEN! AND LISTEN TO THIS TERRIFYING EPISODE, BEFORE YOUR MOTHER BURNS IT!
