In episodes three and four of For All Mankind season four, respectively titled: ‘The Bear Hug' and ‘House Divided', the Soviets are dealing with a coup that has stripped Gorbachev of his Presidency. As Margo deals with the repercussions of this, she is reunited with the mysterious woman at the park and is finally being put to good use for the Russians. Meanwhile, on Happy Valley, due to increased pressure from his wife on money issues, Miles has taken desperate measures to increase the cashflow by taking on some side work as a space smuggler. Up top, Ed kindles his relationship with Russian Cosmonaut, Sveta, who gets herself into some trouble by accidentally hurting a comrade. And back on earth, Kelly and Aleida team up with Dev to take control of Helios and get the SEEKER Program up and running. Welcome to our series coverage of For All Mankind (on Apple TV+) by Story Archives. Join us week to week as we cover the hit Apple TV Plus show and it's interesting retelling of how history would have unraveled had the space race never ended. For All Mankind is an American science fiction drama television series created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi and produced for Apple TV+. The series dramatizes an alternate history depicting "what would have happened if the global space race had never ended" after the Soviet Union succeeds in the first crewed Moon landing ahead of the United States. The title is inspired by the lunar plaque left on the Moon by the crew of Apollo 11, which reads, in part, "We Came in Peace for All Mankind". On this edition of The Ex Terra Podcast, Tom Patton talks with Global Security Consultant Namrata Goswami concerning US-Russia policy and how it ties into space commerce. This is the first in a series of three podcasts with Ms. Goswami, looking at our relationships with Russia, China and India related to space commerce. "I do not see someone like Elon Musk being able to succeed or innovate in that environment." Namrata Goswami On Sunday, Russia lost its Luna 25 spacecraft when it crashed while attempting to land on the surface of the Moon. The country is consumed with its war in Ukraine, and it has openly stated that it plans to leave the International Space Station partnership in the next few years, and has been collaborating with China on potential joint space exploration. Still, a Russian Cosmonaut will fly to the ISS on the Crew-7 mission scheduled to launch early Friday morning. Affect of US-Russia Policy on Space Commerce So how does US-Russia policy affect space commerce, and is there an analog to Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos in Russia that could spur a commercial space industry in Russia? "Given the fact that Roscosmos likes centralization, do not want to give up power, very much dictates the organization of Russian (space) firms, I do not see someone like Elon Musk being able to succeed or innovate in that environment," Goswami said. According to Goswami, economic pressure including sanctions related to the war are forcing Russia to take more of a supporting role in its relationships with China and India as it relates to space. And India, with its recent signing of The Artemis Accords, which Russia opposed, is seen to be moving closer to the US when it comes to space. All of that and more will be discussed this week, and in the following two podcasts. How does what happens in space affect your everyday life? The Ex Terra podcast is dedicated to introducing you to many of the interesting people involved in the commercial space industry, and taking you behind the scenes with many of the companies making significant contributions to the new space economy. The podcast is available on Anchor, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Audible, Breaker, Overcast, Pocketcasts and Radio Public.

On this episode, Alex shares his thoughts in the wake of the Crew 6 mission where NASA will send two NASA Astronauts, a UAE Astronaut, and Russian Cosmonaut to the International Space Station onboard SpaceX's Crew Dragon vehicle. Human spaceflight has a history tied to defense and war, from the base technology of rockets (V2 Rocket), and the Space Race to the moon between the US and Soviet Russia, and the eventual Apollo-Soyuz docking in the middle of the Cold-War. Even today, while Ukraine and Russia are at war on Earth the human beings on board the ISS work together to survive in Space without the borders we draw in the literal sand for countries and states here on Earth. Questions/Thoughts for this week: Is there hope for humanity in crewed missions like this? Does the continued partnership between Astronauts and Cosmonauts in space serve as an example for peace and how we can work together? What do partnerships with the UAE to develop their Astronaut training mean to humanity? Can Human Space Travel serve as insulation to the fog of war on Earth? What would the alternate universe look like if America never replaced their ability to send Astronauts from US Soil when Russia invaded Ukraine and restricted Soyuz launches to allies? We'd love to know what you think! Email us at todayinspacepodcast@gmail.com These are all questions & thoughts Alex works through in this episode, as Crew 6 looks to launch on March 2, 12:34 AM EST and the life-boat replacement Soyuz has docked to the ISS to replace the previous Soyuz with the micrometeroid-impacted hull. Join us for the last episode of February! Excessive Rumination back in your life!On today's episode I'm joined by a man and photographer I have tremendous respect for, Senior Lecturer on the Press and Editorial Photography course at Falmouth University, David White.Dave was instrumental to me surviving and thriving at University back in the glory days of 2012 - 2015. I have to hold my hands up and say I massively under appreciated Dave, and the other tutors, in terms of the photographic talent they brought to the course. Dave has been a photojournalist for over two decades and in that time has shot an incredible amount of work all over the world, his story on Russian Cosmonauts being a particular highlight. However, it's not just Dave's photographic history I'm interested in talking about, it's his viewpoint as an arts degree lecturer in 2020 and what that looks like. We talk mental health in students, the value of an arts degree, rights of passage and 'the fourth year'.You can, and absolutely should, check out Dave's work at www.nospin.com and if you've got any interest in the Press and Editorial course, for you or someone else, go to https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/press-editorial-photography for more info. Well our guest Helen Sharman, Britain’s first astronaut, actually did that! Helen joins the podcast to help navigate the challenges of remote working – a rising trend in the workplace and one that can come with the of isolation...and you can’t get more remote or isolated than space. We also explore her incredible journey and achievement back in 1991. Can you imagine the responses you would have got from your loved ones or your colleagues if you told them you were applying to join a team of Russian Cosmonauts to work on MIR Space Station!? She pursued this dream which is a huge testament to Helen’s character – she is a truly inspirational leader that the United Kingdom should be so proud of – it was a pleasure to keep this story alive, and I hope you feel the same way too. The fact that we’re sleep deprived is then met with a whole slew of people who say, ‘Well, so we need to sleep more. This is the solution.’ But there are other things that we could be doing, like seeing if we can cut down on our actual NEED for sleep, so we can do more of the things we’d like to do more of.”“What I would encourage people to do, if they’re zooming out on the problem or question of sleep, is to think about quality of life, what makes life great, and maybe take a page from the actuarial tables – which adjust for things like disability, years spent with crippling diseases and so on. And surely being unconscious has to be the most debilitating of all states. And if we’re spending a third of our lives in this state, could this be different? And should we put some effort into looking into this?”– Michael Quote:“Multicellularity was a technological singularity. Photosynthesis and Glycolysis was a technological singularity. Written language, and before that even, spoken language, was a technological singularity. So it’s good to keep that in perspective.” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This week a Russian Cosmonaut returns after over a year in space, some colourful GameBoys came out, and youths fix up old computers.  We go in depth with some of our gripes about Gaston from Beauty and the Beast and speculate on the nature of the curse that affects the castle. Due to some audio glitches we had to cut parts of that conversation, but we were surprisingly able to refer to many Disney villains as 'pieces of shit' over and over. All was not lost. This week stuck in the 90s is brought to you by that little triangular gap in your windshield that the wipers don’t reach. Superman takes on Lex Luthor's crappy cro-magnon clone of the Man of Steel while adding the power of the sun. So he's made of the thing that gives Supes his power on Earth? Bad design, Lex. Oh also, Superman owns a net specifically made to store nuclear missiles. Did he buy that? Wow, this film...wow. What a train wreck. Superman IV is very easily one of the worst executed films of all time. The writing is awful, the action is awful, the acting is awful, the set design, costumes, sound, editing and even the film credits are awful. At no point in the production process did anyone stop and say, "Guys, this is not it! Start over!" Its preposterous! So it's an awful pile of garbage....and one of the most enjoyable pieces of crap we've ever watched. It is so much damn fun. The lunacy is constant from the very beginning and never lets off until the end. It's a laugh riot from start to finish. For God's sake, please go watch this film, even if you have seen it recently. It's hilarious. It's fantastic! Some highlights: Russian Cosmonaut gets hit by space junk (his head comes off), Jeremy spoke in class today, Jon Cryer's "Ooh noa", Superman's sudden telekinesis powers, the giant statue of Superman that looks terrible,  The great travesty of this film is that if they had left the deleted scenes in the final cut, we wouldn't be talking about The Room, Troll 2, and Birdemic. There would only be Superman IV at the top of heap for worst movie ever made. So if you have a copy on DVD be sure to watch them. They infinitely make the film so much worse which already seems impossible. This is likely making the Year 3, Year in Review list for multiple hosts of Stinker Madness. Look at these star ratings! It's unbeatable. We truly loved it and had such a blast watching it. We wish every movie we watched was Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Good Good Good Good Vibrations! I think the Beach Boys were on to something. Apparently it wasn’t the Beach Boys but instead Whole Body Vibration Training (WBVT) was invented to keep Russian Cosmonauts shredded while orbiting the earth. Since then it has been refined and experimented with and now a standard in training facilities around the globe. I was on the blower with Jeff Handler @jeffhandler (Former Strength Coach of masters Champion Mike Weir) sport-rx.com and was having such a great conversation I decided to set up the pics and put it on wax!  WBVT consists of standing on a platform that vibrates in a way designed to stimulate your hormonal, cardiovascular, lymphatic, and nervous systems simultaneously. The reflexive muscle contraction has been proven to provoke: Increased lymphatic drainage Increased bone mass and mineral density Increased flexibility and mobility Metabolic alterations in bone, stomach, bowel, prostate, kidney, and bladder Enhances knee neuromuscular control Immediate improvement in blood circulation Pain reduction Improved proprioception and balance Multiple Sclerosis Deterrent Increased secretion of serotonin and norepinephrine   So that is exactly what this episode is all about. Vibration training and how you can use it and we also cover the limitations and considerations when embarking on a vibration training regime. @PowerplateUSA @mytpi @performbetter #CoachGlassNextLevel #DreamBig #OverDeliver #BeUndeniable Coach Glass
