Granny's Peach Tea – Episode 234: Supes, Spoilers, and Special Guest TimGranny's Peach Tea is back with Episode 234, and this one is going full spoiler mode. Ed and Jason dive into their spoiler discussion of The Boys Season 5 finale, which also serves as the series finale. That means no dancing around the big moments, no pretending they “might talk about it,” and definitely no safe little spoiler-free corner for people who somehow clicked on a finale discussion without watching the finale. The guys break down the end of The Boys, the chaos, the carnage, the characters who made it out, the ones who probably deserved worse, and whether the finale stuck the landing or flew straight through a wall like Homelander having a normal Tuesday. Then Tim joins the show as a special guest to talk The Mandalorian and Grogu, because apparently Granny's Peach Tea decided one major geek-culture discussion wasn't enough. The conversation shifts from corrupt superheroes and bloody finales to Star Wars, Din Djarin, Grogu, and the return of one of the galaxy's favorite tiny green merch machines. It's spoilers, Star Wars, The Boys, Tim dropping in, Ed and Jason doing what they do, and probably enough nerd debate to make the internet argue with itself for another week.#TheBoys #TheBoysFinale #StarWars #TheMandalorianAndGrogu #GrannysPeachTea #PopCulturePros

Do You Need Some... serious information about the world we drive in from a professional gearhead? Don't worry, it's a fun romp through the junk we all come up against as thinking people (ie: the geek set). Hitchikers: do you? When and where? Are you protected? ...What about the little girl who begged for a ride to a homeless shelter and then killed the guy who showed some kindness? Cold-weather remote-start: what happens when the bureaucrats (Germans, in this case) think they have the right to tell the manufacturer (Toyota, in this case) to take away the feature you bought to "save the environment"? ...Smells more like a flex than giving a f*ck about the planet - a sign of statism, whether it's VW, Tesla, China or your thermostat and your 'fridge conspiring to steal your wallet. "Life, Liberty and Property" were not meant to be a throwaway - this is what we're about: ceramic insulators (neato vintage tech), burgers on toasted muffins (yummo), "Pattern Recognition" (Gibson), "Hitch" ("Road Games"), and '90s funk-metal from Mind Bomb (Yes, have some.).

Hello Unlimited Leaguers! We are flying off to the Fortress of Solitude. I hope we got Superman a good birthday gift. It is hard to compete with Wonder Woman's flower and Batman's money. What do you get the man who has everything? Batman and Wonder Woman are off to help Clark celebrate his birthday. Things do not go as planned. Superman is locked in the grip of the Black Mercy. It is a plant the keeps the captured person in their most fulfilling fantasies. Kal-el is a farmer on Krypton. His wife, Loana (combo of Lois and Lana), his son Van-El, Krypto, and Brainiac the helper robot make his home complete. Krypton was never destroyed. His father is still a leading scientist. Things are different for Kal-El but his personality, drive, and morals remain the same. But as events in the real-world creep in as earthquakes, Kal-El realizes the fantasy. Batman and Wonder Woman must figure out how to break Clark out. Mongul sent the Black Mercy to stop Superman. With no Superman he wants to take over the Earth. Wonder Woman begins to fight him while Batman tries to break through to Clark. Things are not looking good as only Superman is strong enough to keep Mongul at bay, as we see Wonder Woman getting beat down like we've never seen before! As Batman finally is able to pull the flower off of Supes, he's able to come back to reality just in time, and goes to help fight Mongul. Batman is taken over but breaks free quickly. Wonder Woman puts a stop to the even battle between Superman and Mongul. She throws the Black Mercy on Mongul and takes him out. We dig into standout arcs for Marie, Jordan, Emma, and Sage, the villain's core weakness, and why those Starlight and A-Train beats matter. We also highlight the effects work, tributes woven into the story, and what we expect to carry over into The Boys. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 — Welcome and gut reactions to the finale 00:37 — How Gen V strengthens The Boys without losing its own identity 01:14 — Cipher reveal and why the mystery felt obvious but still worked 03:10 — The villain's plan, limits, and the Homelander ceiling 08:31 — Character arcs: Marie's shift from guilt to healer, power ceilings, and "Odessa" 14:39 — Jordan's dual-performance growth and the breakup that actually lands 16:11 — Effects and fight design that make the powers feel dangerous 18:59 — Emma's healing, leadership, and that meaningful Polarity moment 21:07 — Sam as wild card, where he works and where he doesn't 27:19 — Finale tie-ins: who returns, who levels up, and what it signals for The Boys Key Takeaways Gen V continues to be a smart spinoff that supports The Boys while standing on its own. The mid-season drags when the story strays from Godolkin. Keeping it on campus would have helped. Cipher's reveal is predictable, but the character's obsession is the real weakness and pays off thematically. Marie's arc lands: from self-blame to a confident healer positioned near the top tier of Supes. Jordan's two-actor portrayal reads as one cohesive character with real growth and independence. Emma's journey embraces the "cracks with gold" idea and includes a touching tribute beat with Polarity. The show dials back gross-out for purposeful impact while keeping visceral, readable action. Starlight and A-Train moments are not cameos for fun. They set the board for The Boys in a clear way. Quotes "It actually makes me more excited for The Boys now." "My only real negative for the season is the middle slowed down. They should have stayed at Godolkin." "She's not a murderer. She's a healer. Maybe one of the best." "The effects sell the powers. If we had these in real life, they'd be terrifying." "A-Train showing up with Starlight was a fist-pump moment." MONSTER PARTY BRINGS YOU THE ONLY KRYPTO YOU CAN TRUST! JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, salute what is arguably the most famous superhero of all time. Join us as we pry open the doors of The Fortress of Solitude to examine the meta-human miracle that is... THE LEGACY OF SUPERMAN! Created in 1933 as a villain by the ill-fated team of writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, Superman made his heroic debut in Action Comics #1 in 1938. Since then, the orphan from the planet Krypton has been the subject of numerous pop culture interpretations, including serials, cartoons, live-action TV series, and major motion pictures. Although these vehicles have been hit and miss, the release of the most recent 2025 film, SUPERMAN, written and directed by JAMES GUNN, sees Superman come full circle back to the tone of his earlier comic book roots. In this episode, MONSTER PARTY dissects what has made Superman retain his universal appeal. Concentrating primarily on his depictions in films and television, we tackle some of the pros and cons of this pop culture icon. How did the Superman radio show lead to the early Kirk Alyn Superman serials of the 40's? What has animation contributed to the Superman mythology? Was the 1950's TV show starring George Reeves an effective portrayal of Supes? What are some of the problems that have plagued various feature film productions? Does the new Superman film stand up to the praise and criticism? And is it possible to make a truly decent superhero interesting? Joining us for this yellow sun-powered yap fest is a man who has had the honor of creating Superman stories for D.C. Comics. He's a friend of the show and a celebrated artist and writer who has lent his talents to such projects as BLACK TERROR, BATMAN: THRILLKILLER, SUPERMAN AND BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE WORLD'S FINEST, THE PSYCHO, GIANTKILLER, JLA: SEVEN CASKETS, and his own groundbreaking series, THE NOCTURNALS. Please welcome back, Krypton's favorite son... DAN BRERETON! LOOK! UP IN THE SKY! IS IT A BIRD? IS IT A PLANE? IS IT AN INCREDIBLY HIGH JUMPING LEPUS? NO... IT'S MONSTER PARTY!
James Gunn's new SUPERMAN begins from the assumption that audiences already have a working knowledge of the Man of Steel's origin story, his super-skill set, and his romance with Lois Lane. Gunn's film benefits greatly from being able to skip past the basics, but it wouldn't have been possible without Richard Donner's franchise-launching blockbuster SUPERMAN, which codified those basics for the big screen. So this week we're spinning the planet backwards to 1978 and revisiting filmgoers' first introduction to The Last Son Of Krypton — who we don't properly meet until nearly an hour in because, as it turns out, there are about four different movies tucked inside SUPERMAN. We're joined by writer, podcaster, and Supes superfan Chris Klimek to discuss how it all holds together from a modern perspective, and whether Christopher Reeve's definitive performance is enough to overcome all the film's flaws, or just most of them. Then in Feedback, the SINNERS conversation lives on, with a listener detailing its many connections to another film that we considered for that pairing. Please share your thoughts about either and all versions of SUPERMAN, or anything else in the world of film, by sending an email or voice memo to comments@nextpictureshow.net, or leaving a short voicemail at (773) 234-9730. “I'm not messing around. I'm doing important stuff.” We watched “Superman” (2025) with our friend and resident Supes expert, Billy Roach, and we welcome our newest Kryptonian overlord. In a growing list of Supermen, David Corenswet has proven himself to be quite possibly the dorkiest entry, and gosh darn it, it's so endearing! We're not going to waste too much time answering the trolls' review bombing this movie - instead, we're going to celebrate what we liked about it. Not the least of which is the chemistry between the leads - Corenswet's Superman and, yes, Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor. Okay, Rachel Brosnahan is doing some fine work as well, but we're really digging Nicky and Corny's performances as these iconic characters. It's gotta be tough to bring anything new to Superman and Lex Luthor after so many iterations, but these two brought it - and let's be honest, they're not too tough to look at either. Nicky's baby blues are worth the price of admission! We don't forget about this press tour, in which our two boys are publicizing their aforementioned chemistry and landing the crucial disposable income of the gay male moviegoing audience.
