Key Center is a public day school that serves special education students with significant intellectual disabilities. Since 1999, more than $11 billion in lottery proceeds has been contributed to Virginia's K-12 public schools for programs like school breakfast, early reading intervention, and career and technical education.

    Wegmans in DC near Teneleytown in Ward 3 is now open after a 5 year wait. Located just behind the historic old Fannie Mae building, there is liquor, beer and wine, and over 70,000 grocery items! In Wegmans style there is a nod to a few local brands like Capital City Mambo Sauce. There are several specialty departments including a sushi, pizza and hoagie station and the bakery (pro tip the cheesecake is amazing). Open from 6 AM to midnight and with 750 parking spots it is a breeze to get in and out. Also opening on the Fannie Mae campus are residential buildings right next door and several new restaurants coming soon, including a Tatte and Taco Bamba.

He has agreed to terms to be the next manager of DC United, and will join up with the club soon. DC United fired their coach back in April. For the second straight season, Juan Soto is going to he All-Star Game. Washington Nationals outfielder was named a reserve outfielder for the National League.     Major League Soccer announced that Washington, D.C. will host the 2023 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target on July 19 at Audi Field, home of D.C. United. The announcement comes just a few days after DC lost the bid to host a World Cup game in 2026. Happening at Nats Park rumors continue to swirl about who will be the new team owners, Axios is reporting beside Monumental owner, Ted Leonsis, private equity billionaire Joshua Harris current owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils. Harris has ties to DC, he grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and went to The Field School. The weekend of June 17, Nationals retired Ryan Zimmerman's number 11. The ceremony included speeches from past players, Mark Lerner, Manager Davey Martinez and GM Mike Rizzo. Tommy got a chance to catch up with Ryan and Heather Zimmerman on life after professional baseball just a few days before the ceremony in his Walk A Mile podcast.

    Fireworks are happening on the National Mall starting at 9:09 pm on July 4th. While the Mall is the best place to see the fireworks, it is very crowded and hard to get to with street closures. There are some awesome spots to view the fireworks, not on the Mall. On the grounds of the National Cathedral, there is an overlook to view the National Monument. The DCist got to the bottom of it “We were actually testing our Giant Voice System on Monday evening,” says Anastazia Clouting, a spokesperson for Anacostia-Bolling. Next question is what is a Giant Voice System. Tis the Mystics Season. Home opener is set for April 27, and we talked about Alysha Clark, Forward for the Mystics. Clark was a guest on Tommy's podcast “Walk A Mile.” Helix is Happening. Amazon got the sign-off for the construction of their HQ Helix from Arlington County last week. Construction to start soon with completion by 2025. World Cup in DC but Baltimore. DC and Baltimore are teaming up for a bid to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The two cities would merge their bids to hold games at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore and a Fan Fest on the National Mall in DC.

    Wendy Rieger was our guest the first week of our reboot. This conversation is something we've quoted ever since. We're sharing the full, unedited, interview to honor our dear friend Wendy Rieger. She brought the light and energy of the sun into Kelly's basement studio that cold February morning. We learned this week Rieger has entered hospice care after an almost year-long battle with brain cancer. Wendy's life is one of no regrets. She openly shared details with us about her view of living, dating, her love for nature, and her 30+ career as a TV journalist in DC. Always with an amazing sense of humor and great advice, Tommy and Kelly agree that this is their favorite interview they have done in their 12 years of broadcasting.
