Discussing some serious BS from Funcom regarding Secret World Legends, and a giant of TTRPG history is back (to our chagrin)! Intro (0:50) – Our week, in brief. A mysterious signal has been recorded coming from the red planet. The message confounded Orochi scientists. Their analysts broke it down and determined it was of intelligent origin. Orochi management immediately concluded that the discovery was too sensitive for public knowledge and moved to keep it hidden. In secret, the corporation began construction of Trailblazer Alpha, a state-of-the-art Mars research outpost designed to identify the true nature of the message. You are Shane Newehart, an engineer stationed at Trailblazer Alpha and your security clearance means you are completely unaware of the existence of the mysterious signal. Your job is simply to keep the lights on until the transport ship Cyrano arrives bringing with it a new team to take over your duties. Soon you discover strange and unusual setbacks. Crucial systems are malfunctioning, the greenhouse is filled with a strange mist and the rest of your team has yet to return from their EVA mission. Things are starting to fall apart. You begin seeing and hearing things that aren't there. Visions, hallucinations – or is that even what it is? Is this real… or are you slowly descending into madness? Experience true cosmic horror With your only hope of rescue hundreds of thousands of miles away, you will be forced to explore the real-world fears of isolation and paranoia, enhanced with supernatural elements and cosmic horror. Terrifying visions and monstrous apparitions will make you question what is real and what is not as the very fabric of reality threatens to tear at the seams. Explore the darker side of Mars Navigate a functioning Mars base in a game that uses non-fiction elements to immerse players in a believable setting. Overcome obstacles using computers, electrical systems, rovers, solar panels and more, then go beyond the outpost and explore the darker side of Mars. Moons of Madness draws upon the rich lore and mythology of Funcom's Secret World Legends. Both games exist in the same thematic universe, but playing one is not a prerequisite to enjoy the other. On this episode of The AIE Podcast... Mewkow: We have Rusty Reminders Tetsemi: We Love Summer Mkallah: We have carnage on Iokath Mewkow: AIE is on the move in Final Fantasy… Finally Tetsemi: And we have been given carte blanche to ramble! All that and more coming up right now... Podcast Audio Raw Video http://youtu.be/j_7Cy8OCrrs Open Welcome to episode #279 of the the podcast celebrating the Alea Iacta Est gaming community, the die has been podcast. This is Mkallah: To my left is Mewkow: - (Greetings Gamers). And to my right is Tetsemi: (Story? Where's the story?). Due to a schedule snafu, we are chatting among ourselves, but that is okay- it is us, we have tons to say. Ok, we'll be digging into news soon, but first let's talk about our Nerdtacular impressions and what we have been doing in and out of game. Mew- FF14, but more on that later. Nerdtacular souvenirs; con crud. Black Temple: Fun blast from the past but not nearly as painful as Molten Core was. You got to see the beginnings of the tank swap mechanic, but it wasn't quite there. Taunt was about useless as a tank, but it was a DPS paradise with many ‘kill it until it is dead' bosses, or at least boss phases. Tet- Nerdtacular was amazing and needs to happen again! I love going to Snowbird, it's very relaxing (when the thermostat behaves) and really enjoying seeing everyone, attending the panels, and playing games. Doing the live podcast this year was definitely a highlight and we'll do one again, next time the opportunity presents itself. Rogue Class Mount and Order Hall Campaign - Done! May just be my favorite story and order hall so far. Hunter is leveling up, just hit 108 about 1/3 rd of the way through Highmountain (Azusa is complete). Working on his engineering while leveling which has been interesting. I like the story bits and the cool items to make. Really enjoyed the fact I can buy the Beastmaster hidden appearance for gold and it's a bow! Running with a Core Hound and Hati right now for companions, and I love, love, love, that you can just have Volley go off on your auto-attacks. Brings back the flavor of Volley without having to manage it. Played a bit more of Secret World Legends, playing on the Dragon side as a Gunslinger (insert fake Mkallah shock here) and really enjoying the story (hey! I found the story!) in the game. MK- TALK ABOUT STUFF Games- Dammit, Mills (resulted in Castlevania), GnG D&D (now am I the note keeper), Return of Thors Thunder on Woden's Day NT- so many good things, coffee with Skky, Rocker, Diji, OLF and rotating guests in the atrium. Hiking, in the snow, in socially acceptable crocs, Marvel Munchkin with the Hordeling (Darth Amber won her first time out) AIE News NOMADS Just a reminder, if you're interested in checking out Rust, Corley has set up a private server for the AIE community. Check out #survival-exploration channel in the AIE Discord.
