It's really great to have Simone Smith share some of her journey with us. Simone is from Echuca in regional Victoria, Australia. Simone carries a God given vision for her country town. She paints a picture of how God called her to be part of his mission force. Something she didn't expect to happen as a younger person. Simone draws out the significance of God shifting her from what she calls egocentric prayers to catching God's heart for the lost in prayer. Being a young mother of four, Simone tells us how God has helped even her younger kids be actively part of praying and obeying his Word. This was a powerful insight for Simone who is now starting to see other young mums around her show hunger to pray, read and obey scripture. From being dissatisfied and frustrated in her ‘Christian bubble', Simone highlights the breakthroughs that Bible knowledge coupled with obedience has made.  Simone also speaks about the power of practical obedience in demonstrating care towards others who need help. Answering the question within the Discovery Bible Study of ‘who can we help' being the key. Learning to be generous by reaching out and showing tangible love is seeing lives open up all around her.  Be spurred on this week to what Simone calls a ‘riskier life' of uncomfortable yet more fruitful obedience to Jesus.

Ferris Bueller WAS a show. The iconic John Hughes classic about high school rebellion from 1986 was reimagined as a sitcom in 1990. Matthew Broderick was replaced by Charlie Schlatter who, much like the Ferris of the film, often breaks the 4th wall to address the audience—only this Ferris is also explicitly aware of the existence of the film, for which he has an apparent disdain. This show also features Jennifer Aniston in her 2nd time at bat. IT'S A THROWBACK OF ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE EPISODES - This one was a juicy one!! Who said that the stigmas placed on me will define who I am? Who said that I (or you) must walk, talk, & behave in the stigmas that have been handed down for generations? Not me? In today's episode, I walk you through 5 strategies of how to dismantle generational stigmas. I share how to P.O.U.N.D. those stigmas, while also bringing yourself to the carpet. What makes a marriage last? We can talk about the research, but in the end, it's where the rubber meets the road that matters most. For today's show, we have a special episode with some very special guests. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary by talking to 40 famous couples who all have long-standing marriages. So that we not only get a glimpse into the private lives of well-known people, which is interesting in and of itself, but we also get a sense of the special sauce that has helped them, each of them, stay together and connected over many, many years. There's also a moment in this interview that was perhaps, one of my most challenging as a host, when I asked the tough question that I was afraid might have actually taken my guest down for the count. Fortunately, as you'll hear, he's okay and his wife stepped in with a masterful answer to an important question. Neil Sattin: Their names are Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue, and as I mentioned, they have now been married for more than 40 years. Marlo Thomas is an award-winning actress, best-selling author and activist, who has won four Emmys, a Golden Globe, a Grammy and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, among other awards. She's also the Outreach Director for Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Phil Donahue is a writer, producer and journalist whose daytime talk show, The Donahue Show, was honored with 20 Emmy awards. He's also been inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame and is a recipient of a George Foster Peabody Award. Together, they are the authors of the best-selling book, What Makes a Marriage Last, where as I mentioned, they have interviewed 40 celebrated couples about their relationships and the specific things that help them stay connected through the good times and the challenging times. Neil Sattin: It's a series of fascinating interviews with people like President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, LL Cool J and Simone Smith, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Elton John and David Furnish, Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan, Sting and Trudie Styler, Deepak and Rita Chopra, Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner. I'm not going to list them all here, but just know that each interview offers some interesting insights that just might help you take your relationship-ing skills to the next level.
