In this episode of Retire With Style, Wade Pfau and Alex Murguia walk through the foundational elements of estate, legacy, and incapacity planning from Chapter 11 of the Retirement Planning Guidebook. They discuss why estate planning is about far more than drafting a will, including how to organize important financial and personal documents, avoid common beneficiary designation mistakes, understand the role of trusts and probate, and prepare powers of attorney and healthcare directives before they are needed. The conversation emphasizes the importance of making life easier for loved ones during emergencies or incapacity, while also highlighting why professional estate planning guidance can help retirees avoid costly and emotionally difficult mistakes. Listen now to learn more! Takeaways Beneficiary designations override your will, making regular reviews critically important after major life changes. Estate planning is not just about distributing assets; it is also about preparing others to manage your affairs during incapacity. Organizing financial accounts, insurance policies, passwords, and important documents can significantly reduce stress for loved ones. Living trusts can help avoid probate and maintain privacy while providing more control over asset distribution. Testamentary trusts may be cheaper to create, but they generally do not avoid probate. Financial powers of attorney should be established before cognitive decline or incapacity becomes an issue. Banks may still create obstacles for powers of attorney, which is why proactive setup and verification are important. Healthcare directives and living wills should be discussed openly with family members, not simply stored away in a folder. Estate planning should include practical details like pet care instructions, funeral wishes, and emergency contacts. DIY estate planning mistakes can unintentionally disinherit family members or undermine years of careful financial planning. A business can be one of the most meaningful things you build in your lifetime. But without the right plan, it can also become one of the most complicated things your family has to untangle. In this episode, Stacy sits down with estate planning attorney Katya Sverdlov to talk about the real-life decisions business owners need to make before a crisis hits. From buy-sell agreements and key person insurance to prenups, trusts, and simply knowing who can access the bank accounts. This conversation is all about protecting your business, your family, your employees, and the legacy you've worked so hard to create. You'll hear them discuss: Why estate planning for business owners has to go beyond personal wills, trusts, and family assets The simple first step every entrepreneur can take: making a clear list of accounts, policies, payroll contacts, and key business information How a buy-sell agreement can protect your heirs, your partners, and the future of the business Why life insurance and disability coverage can be essential tools for business continuity How business ownership can create major complications in marriage, divorce, and inheritance planning Why timing matters when it comes to trusts and asset protection The importance of having honest conversations with your family about your wishes before they are left guessing later Resources Katya Sverdlov on Sverdlov Law | Email: info@sverdlovlaw.com | LinkedIn | Phone: 212-709-8112 Stacy Francis on LinkedIn | X(Twitter) | Email FrancisFinancial.com Reach out to receive a complimentary consultation! Something Happens and We See - David Luff
"Pray without ceasing" 1 Thessalonians 5:17In our lives, prayer acts as the water that carves a path through solid rock. Just as a steady stream can shape a mountain over time, our unwavering prayers can create breakthroughs in ways we might not foresee. Remember the story of Elijah, who sent his servant seven times to look for a sign of rain. On that seventh journey, a small cloud appeared, signaling the end of a long drought. This is a perfect reminder that persistence in prayer can lead to remarkable answers. As we navigate through our spiritual journey, it's essential to track those prayers that feel unanswered. Revisit them with a fresh heart, just as Elijah kept returning to his watchtower. “Persevering Prayer” is crucial; it reminds us that faithfulness in seeking can reap immense reward. As Hudson Taylor said, “When we work, we work; when we pray, God works.” So, I encourage you as Jesus encourages us In Luke 18:1 to always pray and not lose heart. James 5:16-18 says, "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit."Remember, "Prayer is the quiet thread that stitches every moment to God, therefore, tug it gently and the whole day holds together." That's why 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “pray without ceasing.” In other words, it is an endless approach to our communication with God that can strengthens our faith and deepens our connection with Him. Just as a gardener tends to plants, nurturing them until they flourish, our prayers cultivate relationships with God, allowing His plans to blossom in our lives.Tennyson said, “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of," and indeed, every whispered prayer has the potential to change our circumstances and touch others' lives. Picture the water hammering at a rock — persistent, relentless. That's how our prayers can act: continually pressing until the barrier is broken. So, let us commit to enduring in our intercession, believing that visible breakthroughs are on the horizon. Amen. Colossians 4:2 says, "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."Prayer for the Day!Heavenly Father, we thank You for the power of prayer. Grant us the endurance to continue seeking Your presence and the wisdom to recognize Your answers. May our hearts remain steadfast, trusting in Your perfect timing. In Jesus' name. Amen.

WFR Radio 417 What Happens When Something Happens to Your Advisor? by Tony Walker Financial
"And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all." Acts 4:23-33

Stan Erraught in conversation with David Eastaugh The Stars Of Heaven were formed in 1983 by Stephen Ryan (vocals, guitar), Stan Erraught (guitar, formerly of The Peridots), Peter O'Sullivan (bass guitar), and Bernard Walsh (drums). They were strongly influenced by The Byrds and Gram Parsons, even being labelled "Ireland's answer to The Byrds, Gram Parsons and the Velvet Underground all in one package". After a début single on the Hotwire label ("Clothes of Pride") which received airplay from John Peel, they were signed by Rough Trade, who issued the album Sacred Heart Hotel in 1986, which reached number 11 on the UK Independent Chart. Peel's patronage continued throughout their career, with the band recording four sessions for his BBC Radio 1 show, the first of which was included on Sacred Heart Hotel. They also appeared on RTÉ television. They released a further single and EP ("Never Saw You"/The Holyhead EP) which was a top five hit on the independent chart, and in 1988, Rough Trade released their second and final album, Speak Slowly, which peaked at number 6. Speak Slowly included the track Lights Of Tetouan, although this was not released as a single. The song is written by the band's singer, Stephen Ryan, about growing up on the south coast of Spain from where he could see the Moroccan town of Tetouan. Lights Of Tetouan was covered by Everything But the Girl on their 1994 EP Rollercoaster. Along with the original, as this version is a B-side, it is not widely known/available. However, it is available for listening/viewing online. The band split up shortly after the release of Speak Slowly with Ryan going on to form a new band, The Revenants, along with former members of The Would-Be's and Something Happens, who released two albums (Horse of a Different Colour and Septober Nowonder) in 1993 and 1995, respectively.
