Women are amazing — their bodies can literally grow new people! But for a woman who wants to be a mother but experiences fertility troubles, it can feel like her body is at war with her heart. Science offers a whole host of "assisted reproductive technologies" in these cases, but not all of them are life-affirming choices. And there are many options that are ethical and effective but not widely advertised. In this episode, pro-life speaker and author Stephanie Gray Connors will take us through the pro-life positions on In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and other a range of other medical options for fertility and women's health. Gray provides tools to help determine whether a fertility treatment is ethically problematic, and how to engage loved ones in discussing this intriguing but sometimes emotional topic. Why does the Catholic Church teach against In-Vitro Fertilization? If the Catholic Church is pro-life, why is IVF a problem? Join Bishop Strickland and Dr. Trasancos as they sit down with Stephanie Gray Connors to discuss her new book, "Conceived by Science: Thinking Carefully and Compassionately about Infertility and IVF." Stephanie explains this emotional issue in a clear and charitable way, and also offers her perspective on how we can effectively share the Church's teaching with others. In 1999, I was with Center for Bio Ethical Reform (CBR) leading the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP). We were invited to take the display to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC by UBC Students for Life. Upon are arrival in Vancouver, UBC demanded CBR pay $10K for “security fees.” Instead of paying the fee, we sued the university. Despite that setback we still were able to train students in pro-life apologetics. That is when I met the student leader for UBC Students for Life, Stephanie Gray. After college, Stephanie co-founded the Canadian Centre for Bio Ethical Reform and began traveling North America with our GAP displays. Cameron has been involved in equipping pro-life individuals and groups from around the world, most notably campus, community, and national pro-life organizations in Canada, the USA, and England. He has been the keynote speaker at dozens of galas and banquets, featured as a speaker at LifeCanada's 2019 National Pro-Life Conference and the Virtual Catholic Apologetics Conference in 2020. Growing up in a pro-life family, he was launched into action after being exposed to the reality of abortion in 2009, where involved in hosting a debate between CCBR's then Executive Director, Stephanie Gray Connors, and Dr. Eike Kluge, a philosophy professor from the University of Victoria. After watching a graphic video of abortion itself, Cameron realized that this act was happening over 100,000 times every year in Canada, and that he needed to do everything that he could to end such age-based discrimination.
