Magnus Asberg started coming to Chamonix from the age of 13 - first on a school trip, then making the 24-hour journey by bus every year. He grew up on skis, but being an avid skater, transferred his passion onto the snow. 40 years later, Magnus has gone from snowboarding to No-Boarding – riding the Chamonix slopes on a surfboard style snowboard – no fuss, no muss! In this week's podcast, the Swedish born DJ and music producer talks to me about how Chamonix has changed over the last few decades – how he moved from ski stores to clothing lines to nightclubs, and from Sweden to Chamonix to the UK - but how his passion of snowboarding has always brought him back to the Alpine town. Now, with a documentary in the works, he tells me his search is for snow this winter so he can complete the project – but if not, he says, there's always Petanque! I'm back with another episode of #BringThePain and on this one I dedicate the entire show to the late #Avicii. He was an amazing artist as your about to hear and I hope you enjoy the list I put together for you. Tim had an amazing talent that lead him to making so many different songs with artists you would have never thought of. He did this because of his love for music and it inspired him to create something we ask loved and enjoyed. Since I didn't see any tributes being done I said to myself this cannot happen. So I took things into my hands and delivered this episode. I couldn't use my usual equipment because of limitations of my recording program so I'm sorry if my crazy voice gets loud. That being said, the music and the tone I tried to set is there and I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for your support and please share, like and follow so we can all enjoy his music together. #Ooohyeah

I met Swedish DJ and electronic music producer Kasbo (aka Carl Garsbo) right after a post-show meet-and-greet. I was nervous to hang out after the show, but Kasbo assured me the only thing I was keeping him away from was sleep. He describes his music as "dance music that makes you want to cry" and memorable quotes like that had me looking forward to this chat. This year, Kasbo has released his debut full length record, Places We Don't Know, on Counter Records (indie electronic superstar duo ODESZA's record label) and he's touring North America on his first headlining tour. Pretty cool accomplishments for a guy who's barely the drinking age in the US, right? What's it like signing a fan's butt? Which music performer hero does Kasbo want to sign his own buttocks? What was it like working with famous actor Keiynan Lonsdale on a song? What music makes Kasbo want to dance and cry? Which one of his songs is about being ok with being sad and alone for the rest of his life? What were the big lessons when working with all the different vocalists on the record? How do ODESZA mentor young Kasbo? What kind of escape world is Kasbo trying to create? You'll have to listen to find out! Tracks played on the radio edit of the show... 1) Kasbo, Places We Don't Know (2018) "Lay It On Me" (feat Keiynan Lonsdale) 2) Kasbo, Places We Don't Know (2018) "Snow In Gothenberg" 3) Kasbo, Places We Don't Know (2018) "Aldrig Mer" (feat TENDER) 4) Kasbo, Places We Don't Know (2018) "Stay With Me" 5) Kasbo, Places We Don't Know (2018) "Bara Du" NO songs CANCON

Episode 045: Just En Just En, a Swedish DJ an producer from Göteberg, has a taste for the bleak and mystical like many creatives from the Scandinavian region. His Sputnik EP was a treat to listen to and was a strong contributing factor to inviting him on for a Bomphcast. When one thinks "techno", one's mind tends to drift towards the action in Western Europe. However, there are many other regions which are starting to make a big impact on the genre. Scenes like those in eastern Europe, such as Georgia and Ukraine have made headlines recently. The Nordic scene is one which is starting to make waves. Scandinavia: a boundary-pushing techno region Scandinavian techno is very much a scene that has developed in the past few years and has produced boundary-pushing music. The unique Nordic landscape and lifestyle have a direct influence on the sounds that we hear and love. Sweden has a scene that breaths fresh life into a genre which is focused on sounds of the future. After listening to some of his mixes and hearing that the aesthetic of his production style was maintained in his mixes, we got excited about presenting his sounds to you. An emphasis on authenticity His mix contains only music made by Swedes (except for a Rødhåd) remix and "definitely has a dark and winter vibe, something that is understandable when the daylight hours are so short, and people rarely see the actual sun". So ahead of you and including some of Just En's own productions, is a truely authentic sound from the far north and the embodiment of a polar opposite state of the climate. Enter into the world of Just En.

Kai-zen Podcast - Regular top guest DJ's playing Deep House, Tech & Techno. Tracklist unavailable at time of broadcast. Swedish DJ/producer Mattias Fridell has been actively involved in the techno scene since the 1990s, inspired early on by EDM and the developing techno movement in Sweden. In 2000 Fridell's first record, cut with Alexander Johansson, was released and it garnered the duo a reputation as two of the more promising producers to look out for. Their music was subsequently played by some of the highest profile DJs as well as noted by Calle Dernulf—a radio guru in Sweden who has been pushing techno and house music to the masses. From there Fridell and Johansson they released their music on a succession of classic and legendary labels such as Audio Assault, ARMS and XXX Records. When Johansson decided to take a six year break from electronic dance music, Mattias Fridell kept right on going. For nearly a decade he's released quality techno and other forms of electronic dance music, working along the way with a growing number of respected labels and artists. In 2010 Fridell teamed up with techno icon Glenn Wilson to create throbbing music and also launch the label project Tonal Path. He's also collaborated with other producers from around the world and succeeded in re-introducing his old collaborator Alexander Johansson to the techno scene—they're now as strong as ever in their partnership. While constantly implementing new ideas and retaining his signature sound, Mattias is always inspired to work several directions within dance music's deep maze of rabbit holes. From starting out in the '90s delivering the sound of authentic Swedish techno, his musical journey took him through a variety of musical twists. Along the way he's salvaged everything from hard techno to classic Detroit-inspired beats, down to a minimalistic approach as well as the work that defines his sound today: the dark, deep, industrial tones and rich, deep dubby flavourswith lots of erosion and a smattering of dirt. Working against the trends, but assimilating slices he likes along the way, Fridell will carry on producing his unique, innovative vibes.
